Well since everyone else has a ipod I think i'll get a Zune. It's just so colorful and you can put your own wallpaper and album art. The ipod just has boring white background...I want something new!

Damn, I like Zune 30 better than Zune 80. but I got a Zune 80, because i though it has Video Output (witch it does), but it doesn't support PAL. So I cant Watch Movies on my TV from my Zune.

Microsoft: Never met a feature it didn't like. I'll stick with my iPod Nano, thank you very much. It's 1/8 the size, works perfectly, and does the exact same thing: plays music.

I'm glad MS did this. It will push Apple to move faster on their new iPod. The new iPod will have a touch activated click wheel and the entire face will be a screen. It's rumored to be wifi/wimax. By the end of 2007, the iPod will be basically a wireless hand held video phone with internet access (think .mobi), video, music communication.

Things are going to get really cool fast kids.

no sh*t sherlock obviously not. but the highlighted letters that come up as you fast scroll to help you navigate as you scroll.... apple. not microsoft. the ipod is five years old last month and microsoft has just managed to copy it and all reports and reviews so far tell the same story its just not as good. just as vista will be. years in the making to create something thats not even out yet and is already years behind.

Are you mad that Ford started making cars after Benz and Daimler did? Oh wait, I think Ford stole the idea of a metal box with a motor and four wheels. Maybe Microsoft sees that the iPod interface is something to imitate but try and BUILD upon. Not everything is going to be completely different.

The interface is slick looking. If it wasn't thicker, wider and heavier than an iPod I would get the Zune.

I dont like apple ipod, simply cause they own too much, monopoly is never good, but the buttons on the zune are a turn off, the ipod has a better scroll wheel design

It isn't a monopoly because people easily have the ability to buy another product. If you don't like the iPod, you can buy an iRiver, Creative, Yepp, or Zune. Monopoly means one producer with market control or a lack of competition in a market. And there's plenty on comeptition in the mp3 player market. Get your terms straight.

it's neither a monopoly or oligopoly but a monopolistic competetive market because of brand loyalty and the consumer's predetermined choices. the products have similar uses but still heterogeneous, therefore making them substitues.

well it is pretty much monopoly because apple invented the apple ipod scroll wheel design, and it's probably the best touch scroll there is, and whoever makes a touch scroll will get their asses sued. that makes everyone want to buy an ipod because of it.

There's nothing wrong with patents. If Apple stubbled across something great, why shouldn't they reap the benefits? And there's no law against having a better product. If Apple's competitors would be more innovative, they'd probably stand a better chance against the iPod.

I'm glad Microsoft is introducing an MP3 player of their own. Even if it doesn't end up being too successful, the competition will encourage Apple to innovate more with the iPod. Competition is good.
