  • O_o That's trippy! I wonder how they did that!

  • The original idea in 9gag: /gag/2398180

  • Don't be fooled.

This scene was not done in CG. The tech crew had to build an exact replica of paris.

  • Screw physics! (i know its in a dream)

  • if only i could lucid dream......(sigh)

  • Once again the VFX studios never get any of the credit they deserve lol.. Great work DNeg =]

  • At this point in the movie, I was like "okay, but now what are they going to — did she just turn Paris into a fucking taco?!"

  • what the hell just happened...? this is freaky XD

  • O.o

  • Like a Boss

  • @DeLaSoleil I saw this movie in IMAX, this scene was... mind bending.

  • Nice trick.

Now how the fuck am I suppose to get back home?

  • Now you can use Google Earth outside.

  • After months of training, I finally learned to have lucid dreams every night. Guess that the first thing I did was.

  • @smoothanyone be carefull with that you can get addicted, trust me

  • @smoothanyone Had sex with her in ze dreamings?

  • What happens if she jumps?

  • @z3nund3rground Well said?

  • this amazed one bloke in the cinema wen me n me m8 went 2 watch it cos he did a fucking massive fart wen the city bend up!! :LOL! everyone in duh cinema startd laffing it were ded funny! LOL! kind of spoiled duh mood tho lol

  • Why does it keep so light when there are two towns on top of each other?

  • @marsnr1 Because it's not real.

  • Crap!

  • In Nolan's films, the action has a purpose. There are no mindless explosions or visual effects put in for the hell of it. The action has meaning i.e. the action becomes an extension of the story. Even the avalanch(spelling might be wrong) in the snow mountain scene had a purpose. That's what makes Nolan great at what he does.

  • Wow, that's a huge taco!

  • Isaac Newton's gonna be pissed....

  • look, the difference with the special effects is that while bay is fine with CGIing the crap out of his movie thus taking away almost all human or realistic connection to his movie, Nolan actually tries to make the scenes happen in real life like the hotel turning scene. By making it more realistic, having characters that we care about and coming up with original concepts that knock the socks off of you, Nolan beats the crap out of any Michael Bay movie that has or will ever exist.

  • @orcacam07 well put XP

  • I love how the projections freak out that shes changing too much when she makes a bridge, but they dont care at all when she flips a fucking city on top of another :P

  • @TheAtlanticDan

One thing I like about Nolan is that he doesn't sexualize his female characters like Bay does and almost all the other directors as well. He doesn't do slow motion on their boobs, have them bending over in tight pants, and he doesnt cast his actresses by showing up to a Victoria Secret fashion show and choosing the girl he finds the hottest.

  • thats some scary shit lol

  • I just noticed that from 29 to 33 if you look at the reflection of the buildings in the window you'll see they don't bend with the buildings. How do you not notice that when you are spending hour after hour animating something like this?

  • @TheRealJackfrog wow... its reflecting the buildings across the street.. Woah! Amazing i know.

  • @TheRealJackfrog probably because if they've spent so long working on it you start to not notice trivial things like that.

  • I saw this in IMAX and this was my favorite part of the movie. I remember sitting in the theater going "HOLY FREAKING CRAP". Forgot robots punching each other! I want CG to show more stuff like this!

  • When she ever learns how to supress the dream people from attacking her, she should have no trouble to completely rape peoples mind.

This was just her first try to see if she grasped the concept. And it's all about the feelings of a place... oO

  • All right, who divided by zero?

  • Avatar The last city bender!

  • @HUNAdamus94

    ? idiot

  • This movie didn't grab my interest the first time I watched it. But after you watch it 2-3 times and so on...you start to understand it better (now I'm not saying that there are not people out there who gain perception on a first viewing on this film) but it took me a second try. I now have a bigger appreciation for it. This film (other than 2001: A Space Odyssey) has the best visuals I have ever seen. For that alone this movie is worth watching.

  • That's what I call a Paris-burger

  • im driving. im high. im drunk. im watching this. all at the same time. fuck it...it's just a dream

  • Does anybody know what the music is in this scene?

  • @yankedup Original score by Hans Zimmer

  • @rampskater0102 Hang on a sec. *Stands on soap box* That is NOT the reason why the two are different. Michael Bay is a MASTER at special effects, I will give him that. But his plots and his characters/actors always fall DEAD on their face, and you can't tell me otherwise. Chris Nolan can provide not only awesome special effects and imagination, but a worthwhile plot and actors that you don't want to KILL after 5 minutes. *Steps off of soap box*

  • @magnusmastah i agree that michael bay sucks, and i know nolan is much better than him but he still isnt as good as people say he is and it really annoys me when people say that he is better than kubrick or leone or anybody else in their league

  • @rampskater0102 Yeah, that's a matter of personal opinion though. I'm personally not gonna say that Nolan is better than Kubrick or Leone because personally, although I think Nolan might be on the ROAD to nearing the stature of said people, I'm not sure if he's there yet. And anyone who goes "OMGG NOLAN IS WAYYY BETTER THAN KUBRICK/LEONE" is probably pretty narrow minded anyway and doesn't want to hear anything different. All I'm saying is, I like Nolan better than Michael Bay :)

  • @rampskater0102 let me tell you it annoys me more when people say that about james cameron

  • @ReverendSyn That's right. The Pope is like Jesus' number one fan, so does that make me the Pope of Nolanism? /joke No, please don't misunderstand. I'm not gonna argue that Nolan is the BEST MOVIE MAKER OF ALL TIME, I'm not that fanboyish. I'm just saying, on the whole, Michael Bay's works in particular have ALOT of things that bug me. In comparison, Nolan's works have far fewer things that make me want to kill myself. Not saying Nolan is perfect and almighty here.

  • @ReverendSyn your soo edgy, kicking the imaginary box out from under him, oooooo, and your "not telling otherwise" is another way of saying "I can't"

  • @rampskater0102 The reason this is amazing is because it fits with the story and the story is good and the special effects are used to explain something in this scene

  • @rampskater0102 because when people hear Michael Bay they dont go "ZOMG, ITS GONNA BE SOOOO GOOOOD"?

  • @rampskater0102 Ppl, we need to perform an Inception here

  • @rampskater0102

Umm... I don't believe Nolan is even responsible for special effects... At least, Paul Franklin won the oscar for this one :/

  • @Filipmh he did but it was nolan who came up with the whole idea, and the same goes for batman begins, nolan said something along the lines of "i dont like cgi and i dont want to use it but i have to" but its just stupid because he knew damn well that he would have to use it when he wrote the screenplay but because "he doesnt like it" people let it slide which they wouldnt with a michael bay film ( i dont like michael bay btw)

  • @rampskater0102 Bay makes action movies. He's good at it. He knows he's good at it, and he's making no apologies to anyone.

Nolan is good at action, suspense, mystery, plotting, effects *and* characterization. All round, he's just plain better than Bay.

I like both directors. If you don't, fine, but don't use "over-rated" like it means something other than "a lot of people like what I don't like."

  • @rampskater0102 Michael Bay wouldn't have the imagination to do a movie like 'Inception,' and Christopher Nolan is in no way "overrated"(some critics used to say the same thing about Alfred Hitchcock). Nolan is by far the most imaginative filmaker in Hollywood right now, and his track record attests to his storytelling genius. Michael Bay -- along with Stephen Sommers and Roland Emmerich -- is a hack director who rips off superior directors like James Cameron, Ridley Scott, and Steven Spielberg.

  • @rampskater0102 u r a fuckwad

  • best movie, and this scene is particularly spectacular...on messing up wid d physics of a dream..

  • I haven't seen Paris bend over like that since I downloaded that video...

  • Not just the background score, also the sound effects of gears and chains and the final 'thump' is fantastic!

  • upload the whole movie! :D

  • love this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
