what notes and what order do you play with the right hand at 1:41 to 1:43 ? I watched the video that part like 50 times trying to learn it but I still cant figure it out.
Why in the first video you teach the left hand 1 way, but in this video you teach it another way? I just learned the left hand in the first video only to find it different in this video... a little aggravating
I saw Jerry Lee Lewis live about 25 years ago, so I've also been a fan for a long time,. I just think you could express your opinions in a more constructive manner.
Wow your little cousin comment was almost as pathetic as your playing. you play it terribly. folks, you wanna learn JLL piano learn from the KILLER HIMSELF, buy Killer Piano off Amazon and he shows you how to play his songs. to waste your time on wannabe's like this LOSER.
Hi Aurora, just wondering if you would call this guy a loser and pathetic to his face? By the way, Chris, you should change the name of your website to bestpianolessons because your videos I have seen have all been superb, excellent playing and instruction, very inspiring...
@maxLeifermann Sorry you don't know me, and yes I would especially when it comes to Jerry Lee Lewis. so why don't you stop pretending like you are a fan as well. I have been a fan my whole life and I cant stand losers like this and you..
You explain that you're supposed to use your left thumb to alternate between the 5th and 6th. When you're playing though, I notice you're actually alternating between your index finger and thumb. I was wondering why? Good video btw, thanks!
@eriksensei2 - you can do both. using the thumb only is easier to get started with... the pointer finger and thumb is a little trickier. When i'm playing I ending up doing both and not really thinking about it too much. as long as it sounds good you're fine!
@chrismarx85 Thanks for the response. I find that using the same finger (thumb in this case) instead of adjacent ones can increase the choppiness of a pattern. But you're right of course; as long as it sounds good, you're fine. Anyway, keep up the great work. Cheers!
Thank you so much! I love this song and I'm only in my fifth year of piano, so your slower tutorial was really helpful. I'm playing this for a high school talent show, and thanks to you, I know it will be great!
Wow, great job. Nice teaching pace -- brisk enough to keep our attention, yet detailed enough to actually learn. If you ever run out of tutorial subjects, consider "Please Mister Postman," the great Marvelettes song. Been trying to find a simple sheet music arrangement of it for years -- with no success.
I've been wanting to learn this song for a looonnngggg time. Ever since "Top Gun" came out. Who KNEW that the same exact chords I play and mess around with would be the only chords I need to know. I know that old time rock and roll used a limited amount of chords but seriously....this song sounded impossible. Now, I'm rockin' it!!! Chris you are a genius and I wish you lived in Chicago, I would so pay for a lifetime of lessons from you!!!! Thank you!!!

I think i could learn this.
The only part I have trouble with so far is sliding my hand down the keys around 1:20
futurefreakly 2 years ago
that part is physically really easy!
I mean the coordination isn't hard to put together.
The tricky part is making sure you don't drag any skin from your thumb on the keys.
