It's not easy to explain. If you played it you'd realize the religious overtones & similarities of religions ideals that were given parody in this game. Although I don't take the game seriously it does contain a lot more philosophy than most games I've played, as far as the story goes anyway. It's an awesome game.

When it crashes on that ringed, blue planet, it initiates a program called System Hawwa, and the woman, Miang, who was produced from biological parts from Kadomony(in the Zohar's core), ends up giving birth to a new race of humans, who's destiny it is to revive Deus. Excellent stuff. For those who haven't read it, there are some excellent English translations on Gamefaqs.
It really is hard to understand all that stuff right away.. but I still love this game.. when you think you know something and you are certain of it.. then something happens again and you are like "what the hell?" it doesn't stop amazing even on the very end..

It's wartime, the Interstellar War has been raging on in the galaxy for a while now, Deus just went berserk and destroyed planet Miktam, and so it was sealed aboard the Eldridge. Then it's humanoid biological part, Persona, or "Alpha-1", hacks into the Raziel, the ship's main computer, and, well, you see where it goes from there...

The budget got cut midway, they didn't want another disc, so half of the game is Citan sitting in a chair saying this happened.. then that happened.. and then you get throw into dungeons that make no sense, and the entire plot is lost. One of the saddest parts of my childhood (yes, I know that's pathetic)
@Wopple now if theyd only remake it in ps3 graphics...also...WTF?! WHEN I PLAYYED THIS IT DIDNT EVEN HAVE THE ANIME SCENES IN IT! WHAT DID I PLAY? O_o;
I remember fighting a dino in a forest with t mecha,but it didnt look like what ive been seeing,and later a sand worm thing...
