You can take fewer hits at the start of Vulcan Base - Phase 2 if you climb to the roof of the base and let the first Kyklops' missiles do the work on the building for you. If you run in circles on the roof, you avoid taking most, if not all of the missile damage, and the building goes down fairly quickly without you having to take hits while standing in one place beating on the base.
