Warner brothers dont like to show death in their stuff unless they feel they need to. plus its said that the joker is the most twisted person of all time, so a gun in his hands can really scare people. Even though the WB owns mortal kombat now. ed boon, being the only remaining creative director left, can use whatever deaths he wants, just not characters unless its ok.

His Soul Steal fatality wouldn't fit seeing as that is his X-Ray. Also, this fatality is awesome because it is a "fuck you" to MK v. DC. Shang Tsung can only transform into those whose souls he owns. This just indicates that Shang stole Joker's soul after killing him.

And, to be honest, it doesn't matter what you as an individual think. It's what their monetary bottom line says and how the majority of fans react. And given the popularity of the Joker's fatality and how most fans seemed to want to see it done right, I think they're happy upsetting you here.
