  • @qqsomething The National is from the States, Ohio specifically.

  • @loyda

The drummer is a beast. Love the 16 bpb hi-hat sequence XD

  • Where are you Greg? Just would like to se you for one more time

  • the drummer is a beast

  • love it!

  • my ears have an orgasm listening to his voice

i cry every time i hear this song

my close family friend just got married and this was their first slow dance song as husband and wife:) i cried my eyes out! ive never cried so much before!:) best night ever!! even though i barely remember it :D still amazing!!

they named their baby castle blue:) random but adorable!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and a fabulous version of it as well. I only wish they would come within you know... 600 miles of me, but alas they have not.

  • Best song ever. And it's been for a quite few years now.

There's a girl at my university... I guess you can figure out the rest, haha!

  • Said it before, I'll say it again - reminds me of the woman I love who lives in Windsor.

  • terrific live version. terrific lyrics. Today I felt the same thing for a girl I saw at the public library.

  • Every beat of the drum and syllable sung make my knees weak. Totally hypnotizing...

  • goddamn, he is sexy.

  • Gossip Girl e Chuck

  • my favourite drummer :)

  • I want to hurry home to you, put on a slow dumb show for you. And crack you up. So you can put a blue ribbon on my brain, God I'm very frightened, I'll overdooooo it.

  • Geez do I want to be that girl a guy with those thoughts would come home to...

  • @BZJoQu I met my husband when I was 29, when Boxer had been released and this tune was everywhere -- so special to hear it live, but that gig was just flawless throughout. Not a single dip in energy. As for the slow dumb shows I come home to? He once did a carving of the mad hatters tea party and gave it to me as my birthday card!

  • How come in this version he said "I better get myself together" instead of "I better get my shit together"? I hate it when bands censor themselves like that. Unless there was an actual reason..

  • better than original version

  • best band in world :))

  • true, if it comes to eddies voice, it's not the same thing as it was in the 90's. but still, comparing matt to eddie is simply as clever as saying ''fuck pearl jam, the national rules". best wishes and long career for both :)

  • I want to see The National live soooo bad!

  • @sassysweets323 i have a ticket to see them at Merryweather Post Pavilion on September 6. Im so excited!!!

  • Breaks me heart this song but in a good way if that's possible

  • I've dreamed about you for 20 years... i can't wait another 9.

  • @AlexSquash :C

  • haha just noticed the true Pearl Jam lovers are understanding but firmly opposing 'itarmenia4' He has a point, but do not compare the great eddie vedder with nickleback or creed.

  • countdown #1

  • singer looks like jens lehman

  • This bleeds COOL!!

  • I could keep hitting replay over and over!!!!

  • This is great!!!

  • Crimen Sollicitationis

  • Chuck has way better music than story

    the national, editors franz ferdinand...

actually Music is the only reason I watched that series

  • @gogolplex74 well then you are stupid, its the best tv show in the world :) it was even voted on hulu .com

  • @HilltopPker no IT Crowd is much better

  • This will always be one of my favs :)))

  • another person with a brilliant deep voice: Ian Curtis.

  • Oh I LOVE these censored versions. <3

  • I don't really know how to express how this song makes me feel

  • EXCELENTE MUSICA!!!

  • Indeed:D:P:(:)Me too...

  • truly amazing song

  • I will always think of the woman I love whenever I hear this. For Estreliciagirl...x

  • they almost completely ditched the violins after the third album (methinks)...

  • 'Boxer' is one of the greatest albums EVER!!! and Matt Berninger has to be one of the greatest frontmen alive!!! "Apartment Song" is the my fave from this incredible band!!!

  • @treid100182

Ummm those vocals have the same tamber as the album. this recording just has a different sound, that's why everything else sounds slighty different. he has a really nice voice

  • srkghapergpaer

  • BOOM

    Poetry.

  • Man I love this song it gets in your head in a good way

I wanna hurry home to you

put on a slow, dumb show for you

    and crack you up

    I love it!!

  • wow amazing song.

dont know when was the last time i heard a song so many times in one sitting

  • He sounds like Eddie Vedder!!

  • @jamieashford23 eddie vedder has a typical unoriginal rock voice that you hear throughout modern rock. (Nickelback, Creed, ect. They all have that same stupid deep rock voice.)

This guy on the other hand doesnt. Hes got the deep baritone, but its original and incredible.

  • @ltarmenia4ever I agree, this is more Ian Curtis' style

  • @ltarmenia4ever

Have a listen to Tindersticks front man Stuart Staples and you'll see that Matt's voice aint as original as you'd think....

  • @ltarmenia4ever Are you aware that Chad Kroeger and Scott Stapp came much later than Eddie Vedder and are clearly ripping him off?

Of course Matt Berninger sounds nothing like Vedder, I don't know how anyone would come to that conclusion.

  • Comment removed

  • @psycobetabuckdown(4 months ago) did you mean Eddie Vedder is not even close from Matt Berninger?!

  • @soundcheck57 I'm not sure I understand your question, but no I don't think Eddie Vedder and Matt Berninger have even remotely similar vocals. Berninger sounds more like Johnny Cash.

  • @ltarmenia4ever Except Eddie Vedder invented that "unoriginal rock voice". The rest of those shitty bands just copied his "golden baritone". That's like saying The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin have that stupid generic rock sound.

  • @ltarmenia4ever dont diss the great eddie there, listen to rats by pearl jam (a little obvious), nickelback, creed, etc, cant assimilate that. eddie has a very particualr voice, other singers are merely bad imitations

  • @ltarmenia4ever indeed, this man's voice is quite original and incredible, but please, please don't compare Pearl Jam with Nickelback, please

  • @antwerpvlaming001 my feelings exactly

  • @antwerpvlaming001 Please do, they´re both terrible.

  • @ltarmenia4ever That is unfair. I agree with you about the unfortunate ubiquity of that style of singing, but your forgetting the fact that it was Vedder who all the rest of them were copyin.

  • @ltarmenia4ever eddie vedder has more than that. I can see what you're saying when you listed them terrible bands, but he has a much more depth and range; he has a golden baritone voice. not unsimilar to matt

  • @ltarmenia4ever woah buddy, did you just trash Eddie? and you compared him to Nickelback? the fuck is that. one of the key bands in the grunge era.

  • @ltarmenia4ever I'd agree with you on Nickelback and Creed, but calling Eddie Vedder's an unoriginal voice does not make sense. He makes rock songs, doesn't make his voice unoriginal in anyway. Its just like that. He doesn't fake a deep baritone anywhere (EVER so slightly on nothing as it seems maybe)

  • @ltarmenia4ever don't hat on eddie vedder he's sick as well

  • @ltarmenia4ever did u just compare eddie vedder to chad krouger and scott stap? Vedder invented that type image of rock boy.. what's unoriginal is your knowledge of music or your uneducated comment. Having said that this guy's voice is certainly awesome and different. love the national.

  • @blinkmdg Thank you for demonstrating just a little bit of understanding and intelligence.

  • Great song and a great voice, Is a pleasure hear it.

  • I liked this song in Gossip Girl

  • ddball's cover is really nice. its in the video responses. really you should check him out. im not trying to spam...i dont know who he is but he covers a lot of national songs.

  • god the national has both a vocalist and drummer who really bring their own energy, shattering typical beats and melodies alike, while remaining musically intriguing in all ways.

  • J'aime bcp! :) J'adore la voix!

  • This song is just awsome.

  • genius drummer !!

  • It's beautiful guitar strumming makes me crack up. Also, I prefer the piano instead of the guitar when the "You know I dreamed about you" part comes. Amazing song, amazing band.

  • It sounds a little like Boys of Summer by Don Henley.

  • Never heard of this band till I caught them on tv at glasto.Best band I seen that weekend.Brilliant sound dark and broody.

  • I love it.

  • Is the lead singer meant to be flat? Is that a deliberate part of the aesthetic? I would understand if the band was atonal but they are melodic.

  • drummer is so effortless......

  • this is an interesting song. i like it.

  • my favorite

  • A band who has no less than Lennon on the drums, deserves our all admiration!!

  • john lennon comes back to life as a drummer??

  • @teamsleepnine hahah I noted it too ;)

  • Never knew Jens Lehmann was in a band.

  • I haven't herd of this band.. People were talking about them on another site.. This song is really great.. I'll have to explore this band more..

  • good to know there are bands like this still out there, no auto-tune, no horrible synth sounds, no tinny and shitty drums etc.

  • love it

  • I figured the singer was referring to his wife and how happy he was to have met her, having dreamed of a woman like her all his life. In my mind, they met when he was 29.

  • best song !!!! so fucking great! :D

  • The line "You know, I dreamed about you for twenty nines years, before I met you." That is lush, romantic and speaks of a yearning, of a longing that he has for a certain girl. When one is a romantic and you see someone whom you are drawn too, well, heck, lines like that are just common place and used to draw folks in...my favorite line of this most awesome song...a dream yet to be realized.

  • he is saying:

i've been alive 29 years, thinking about the love of my life, missing the love of my life - my whole life, 29 years - now i;ve finally found you, met you.

first song ever where the singer talks about his dick. smexy. yes.

  • mp3iifffy is the best site to get this mp3. google mp3iifffy.

  • I love this song...so good and so bittersweet. The drummer is awesome...hell they all are. Thanks for sharing.

  • this really awesome!!!!

  • awesome band

  • pessimist's love song

  • go chuck season 4!!!!!! from lisbon

  • For me this is about a guy who cant have "the" girl, the one he has dreamt of for 29 years.. the girl that makes him feel as though he has to get wasted before he can even speak to her. He daydreams of how his "slow dumb" show will go longing that she doesnt laugh at him... and he gets so nervous at the thought of approaching her his legs desert him... even what you would describe a one of the sturdiest objects known (a wall) cannot support him. Maybe..

  • @TheCasbas that was great

  • Maybe the guy needs to get over this girl, twenty nine years? Hell I wanted give a girl five minutes if we weren't getting along right.

  • @saintlysinner666 doesn't sound like you listened to the song at all.

  • @Ren562 lol I was talking about a comment mentioned above... I can understand the character's point of view, I was just stating who seriously would dream of a girl for twenty nine years and not take the hint? lol...

  • Damn this is such a great song, I can't even describe how it makes me feel ... lyrics from The National are always amazing but these are definitely one of my favourites.

  • I love The National and I absolutely love this song. Their best in my opinion. Lyrically beautiful.

  • great band, discovered them just a few weeks ago, cant stop listening to them...this is one of my favourite songs, great stuff...

  • love the drums at 2:16

  • definitely a good drummer

  • saw them live in Braga, Portugal :D

    awesome

  • watched them last summer in Athens, Greece!

    OMG! They were fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!

    Outstanding performance!!!!

  • The National -- "Rest of Years" also another great song by them!

  • they sound AMAZING live i have never heard a band that sounds that good live ever.

  • makes the hair on the back of my neck stand!!! cracking tune!!!!! well done once again THE NATIONAL

  • matt b is one of the best songwriters of all time. also, the national's drummer is great

  • Does his voice remind anyone's of Rufus Wainwright's except like on a different octave...? I don't know maybe I'm being dumb. I love it though.

  • prefer this to the album version easily

  • Matt B. looks like Thomas Jane (From Hung)...btw great band, and I love this song....

  • I love his voice

  • esta la compocicion chida esta relajante bueno para mi,,

    es una banda fregona..

  • my favorite line is "you know i dreamed about you for 29 years before i saw you"

  • @meesapeesa
