I think the problem is that Bradley's smile is very flirtatious, and Colin''s smile ALWAYS make him look completely besotted with Arthur; The chemistry between the boys is clearly undeniable AND the way the show is written...it's just TOO EASY!!! i mean really, this ship ships itself.

But what the BBC have done really well is to portray a caring relationship between two people who should not have a connection - it's beautiful as it is - and doesn't need sex - that's it's brilliance. Arthur loves Merlin because he is funny, kind and good and Merlin loves Arthur because he is strong and brave. Merlin knows their destiny's are tied together - Arthur doesn't but he senses it. It's all good :)

But sometimes I think we've forgotten about very close relationships (boy/boy, girl/girl, or boy/girl) that are not romantic in nature. It's like if we see people being that close, caring about each other that much, it has to be romantic in nature. And I think it's too bad that kind of friendship so often gets overlooked.

@rurrufin It's a British TV series. God, I WISH there was a movie! Season 1 and 2 are out on DVD (well, season 2's only out in Britain right now), and they began filming season 3 in April. You can watch season 1 on Netflix. :)

Be that as it may, this show hasn't exactly skimped on the subtext. "The Poisoned Chalice" alone in S1 was proof of that! Plus, these are two gorgeous young men, obviously friends, whose characters play friends. Who always have to save each other's lives.
