I have had all types of dogs and loved everyone of them, at present I have a Bichon he is 3 years old and I cannot praise this breed enough, I have had nothing but joy from this little dog, he behaves so well and has a real quirky nature that makes you believe he is almost human, very easy to train and if you don't want the daily routine of grooming have a puppy cut and a daily brush and a weekly wash will keep him gorgeous, I LOVE MY LITTLE DOG.

@flannelize you have ever seen a bichon frise i take it huh? they are real but they only look puffy like this groomed you have to groom them and wash them like everyday for this appeal they are very popular in the usa they used to win the eukanuba dog contest every year that's why i brought one be prepared to spend at least 2,000 usa dollars for one though they are very expensive they are show dogs mine name was RAHREE he died though :(

I miss my Bichon so much! He was a great companion. I always gave him a puppy cut. He was sporty and elegant. He was also very intelligent. He was professionally trained. What wonderful dogs. I am not in a position to have a pet now but if I could it would be a Bichon Frise

@HowwCool Yes, they are gorgeous freshly groomed...my Bichon looks fluffy like that for maybe 2-3 days after grooming, and then she starts to look a little like a toasted marshmallow....lol

I dont like Bichon Frise so much, my aunt has one and it was bought in a puppymill and just at 3 years old is blind and has a skin ratch(I know poor dog =[ ) and my other aunt has one i call her "Lola la loca" She a crazy dog O_O, and every time i come into my aunts house she pees... one day i was wearing sandles... and she peed on my foot -.-;;;

The problem isn't the breed.....

Bichons can live 15+ years if they are cared for correctly. They are incredibly smart.

They are high energy dogs, and they need LOTS of exercise.

As for peeing on your foot, they ARE good judges of character......

i have a b.f. i have taken him to the vet on a regular basis. he is now 10.5 years old. he has a stomach bloat that will not away, this has been going on for 13 months. the vets in my town do not know what to do except to cut him open and look around since all the standard tests came out clear. blood, x rays, fecal exam etc., i am going to take him to a out of town vet, i am in texas, do you have ideas as he is current w/all shots and once had ibd??? someone please help as he is my only baby!!!

Oh, I feel for you so badly. I have had only bichons and Friday was a year ago that my little boy passed away just short of his 15th birthday. Sometimes what is perceived as stomach bloat can be cushing's disease. Does it look like he has a hanging pot belly? Is he urinating and drinking a lot? These are all outward signs of a serious disease.

Hi rozozzy. My bichon Blitzen is my first dog, so I don't know much about stomach bloat. If the vets are out of idea, then you might consider going to a vet in a different area, or even out of state.
