Not a very good documentary. From 6:00 to 6:50 in this video, it's pretty funny how they spoke of the feds so heroically when they were for the most part inept and out of their league at the time. At its inception, they were not allowed to carry any weapons at all. And when they were allowed to, they didn't know how to use them depending on local police to train them. And their "sophisticated labs" constantly mishandled evidence. But we always have to make the good guys look good don't we.
that female warden even smileing with him, she looks the same on the movie they done a good job. i wish hollywood would leave a bit more truth in movies nowadays
there has been some evidence to suggest that some robberies were prearranged with the bankers themselves. Banks were insured for robberies but not for failures. If robbed they could claim dillinger had stolen thousands more than reality and be able to make a profit from the heists
Who is worse? The "Big Bad Bank Robbing Man" or the people pushing and shoving just to get a glimpse of him. He is a spectactle, something they, we are drawn to. After a while nobody cares if he has killed or what he has done just that he exists for us to follow and admire. And though nobody would admit they admired a bank robbing cop killer, they, we did. And we still do. Thats why Johnny Depp and pals glorified it even more. Fucking hypocrits if you talk shit about Dillinger.
GANGSTERS MAKE THIS WORLD ROTATE, RESPECT THAT. wtf..............the guy was a lazy fuckin thief pure and simple..............do ya think the familys of the people he murdered think hes a legend or hero.............a real legend or hero gets up in the morning and goes to work to feed his family
@MrCol916 Person. The family of the one person he murdered. In comparison Clyde Barrow killed nine police officers over his career. I'm not saying Dillinger was a good man, but there were others far worse. And anyway, criminals have always maintained legendary status. Look at Dick Turpin and the other highwaymen of 18th century Britain, or the Australian bush rangers.
Nobody knew "the reality of Dillinger" except those closest to him. Cold-blooded killer...pfft. He was probably the nicest, most generous "gangster" in American history.
isnt it funny how most men wore suits back then for everyday use??? if ya did that today where i live. youre either a banker or a undertaker more likely a undertaker with cold ass hands to shake. and a soft ghostly voice. kinda freaky now. lol godbless.

It was on this video that I realized he killed some guards, I wanted to kill babyface in the movie at the end, when he got reckless...in the movie I saw a John Dillinger that never wanted his crew to be harmed, and even guards...so I liked the character J.D performed, John D., was real, and I think he wasn't bad...

Dillinger was only 31 when he was gunned down. Hard to believe he was SO young! Pictures of him look like a man in his mid 40's. Tough times, tough men...

why would the FBI waste valuable resources on snatched cars taken across state lines? i say its a state police matter. the FBI must concentrate on much bigger fish!! in the big picture, Dillinger was a colorful but small fishy!
Dillinger, Bonnie & Clyde, and the others stand out because back in them days even a small crime was outrageous!!>>>1932>"Oh lord save us!! zeb done stole a mule!! we's all goin to hell"!!

Greed, yes, but not the desire to get famous (unlike that Jesse James who loved notoriety for the sake of it)
The 30's were harsh times and to get by in life was sometimes very hard. To be a celebrity wasn't a big priority like it is these days.
And I think it is important to know that Robin Hood was a fictitious character.

According to facts, Dillinger never really killed anyone. Someone in the gang killed that cop.

no need to jail the doc who treated Dillinger's leg wound to 2 years in jail.

Lima, Ohio is pronounced like lima beans, not Leema, unlike the goof announcer says.

why would the FBI waste valuable resources on snatched cars taken across state lines? i say its a state police matter. the FBI must concentrate on much bigger fish!! in the big picture, Dillinger was a colorful but small fishy!

Dillinger, Bonnie & Clyde, and the others stand out because back in them days even a small crime was outrageous!!>>>1932>"Oh lord save us!! zeb done stole a mule!! we's all goin to hell"!!

Capone topped the list of public enemies compiled by Chicago papers.
On the other hand, Hoover and the FBI claimed Capone was a legitimate businessman and that Dillinger was Public Enemy #1.

Gay edgar Hoover, a coward had others capture the criminals, then Hoover would step in to make the official arrest.
sperrico 3 years ago 6
True that. He owned and chewed on his best agent Melvin Purvis. He basically destroyed the life of Melvin after John Dillinger.
