what the heck is PBS and masterpieces season? Sorry im a British and to me it just seems like it's just showing all our period dramas mostly BBC bar wuthering heights. Strange it was shown on her what looks like a while ago and we just seen it here in the UK a few weeks ago even though we made it. Random,
masterpiece classic is a show on PBS that airs mini-series adaptions of classic literature with a host at the beginning giving you either background knoweldge or just intresting information about the story.
PBS is the Public Broadcasting Station, which is run primarially on public donations and is well known for running the more conservative programming here in the states. Often concerts, period dramas, how-to-do-it-yourself shows, and educational children's television like Sesame Street are their normal schedule. As for their use of British television, beyond BBC America, which you can only get if you have cable/satellite, this is the only way to get it via an oldfashioned antenna.
so far so good! this is my first season of masterpiece and i love it! i cant wait until the last episode of little dorrit!!! so excited to see how it all ends!!!
I absolutely LOVED Wuthering Heights! I was happily suprised that not long after reading the novel for the first time, PBS was showing it! And I loved it! PBS portrayed it SO WELL! I wish I could see it again!
Laura Linney! Great choice... far better than Gillian Anderson. Not to be mean, but Anderson came across as dumb as a post! Ms. Linney has the sophistication Masterpiece deserves!
I saw part one of Wuthering Heights last night and it left me wanting more now I have to wait for Sunday to see part 2, I mean it seemed a bit different than all the others that I've seen but I found it quite lovely
Yikes! I watched part one of Wuthering Heights on Sunday night, and it was awful! Whoever adapted the script should be shot! I was so hoping for a good, new version, but this one just made me sick. I really hope the other Masterpiece showings are better this season.
Wow! I am really surprised that you didn't like it. I thought it was absolutely superb and Tom Hardy was wonderfully surprising as Heathcliff and Charlotte Riley captured the mischievousness of Cathy perfectly. The ending kind of threw me off as it was completely different from the book, but other than that they stayed faithful to the book, not just with the plot but the dialogue. Perhaps you should try watching it again and see if you still don't like it. I bet it will improve your opinion.
PBS has them available for viewing on their websites, but only for a limited amount of time since they only hold the rights to show the programmes for a few weeks. I hope you will be able to watch them!
