Just want to know, I play wow and have been thinking about trying eq. From what I've read there is much more lag due to graphics with eq and that the parent company of eq pretty much brought the gaming experience down. Would like a friendly response, thank you. : )
It's great :)...When it first came out though I didn't want to leave eq1..but as eq1 began to get less and less populated and more n more changed, I decided to finally try eq2. Eq1 will always be a favorite...but Eq2 is also very very good. Brings back a bit of the old magic ^ ^ ..and with a technical view, the graphics, gameplay, music, etc. have very much advanced.

Actually when they started doing dramatic changes is what made EQ dwindle. It was not just 2 changes but many changes. Having to get your corpse sucked, running through high lvl zones as a newbie sucked, waiting for that boat for 10 minutes was a good wait but in the end, it was all worth it.
the changes that dwindled EQ were these. POK, greatly expanding the newbie zones, the MOON with more newbie zones, the Bazaar, lvl requirements for items. All that shit = bye bye game.
I played EQ when Velious expansion was being announced. Old school shit like Windows 98 and when Napster was free. I like them all, EQ, EQII and WoW. They all have their pros that bring back memories.

Completely agree, it was a pure mmorpg, a game where your days are actually adventures, sometimes your entire day was running around, not killing a mob, getting lost in a dark forest, dying and spending hours finding your corpse. it was a game that actually instilled fear while running through a dark dungeon knowing that a ghoul or zombie could jump out at any second and pwn you and you'd have to corpse run =P fuck, eq was the only game that made me feel emotion.

i'm sorry dduble, what makes you such a fookin expert? i've had some of the best times on wow, i have an amazing guild and formed real, lasting friendships with many people, (before i start getting criticised i do have a real life aswell) but i have never found emptiness in WoW, the late night talks and pissing around with friends are memories ill keep for years, im not saying everquest is any different, but how can you possibly say something like 'wont feel anything but emptiness'?
I do not doubt that you have had fun times on WoW I myself have played WoW and its not to my liking. But the wow base is made up of a very unstable/untrustworthy group of gamers, very young players(10-15) who are at the mercy of their parents for play times, and will most likely move on to another game if wow looses its new appeal and their freinds tell them to.
ALSO! its well known fact that 75% of wow players are infact asian powergamers who farm gold to sell, if wow cannot sustain an income for them, they will leave to find a new game.. wow is also loosing players while everquest is gaining(these gains and losses are very slight and barley go noticed) but can show that even if eq is 10 years old it is still a major mmorpg..And even better, eq went thru a peroid of pumping out expansions that were less then half ass, and thought they could get away
with that, the players disliked this and soe had to invest more time and effort into wow. wow is now going thru a peroid of this, and with their player base its possible that they could just move on to other games. And something that NO! other mmorpg
has is its 10 years old. eq being 10 years old makes it a classic and perfect for commercials, or any other marketing. While I feel wow and eq may be similar this is a thing that they differ and it could really help soe. so for those that have an eq account and have not played in 2+ years i encourage you to log back in for a week and re-try eq, because its great and i'd say even greater then the original. i dont agree with the ''emptiness'' comment. the only thing wrong with WoW is that it was made with the casual player in mind, everything is made easy, simply. barely any skill involved. a retard can play WoW and do good. eq2 is actually very fun and I experienced alot of feelings similar to what I felt in Everquest 1. the thing with eq2 is the population is so LOW, you log in and just log back off because there's no one on.

I honestly Like both games a lot, both have their great points and at one point in time I had a live account in both. Me personally though, I prefer EQ due to thats where I started back in 2000 and i feel the quests and lore and all that is better. But as far as fighting battles, I think that goes to wow.

Also, WoW isn't anything like EQ until you reach raiding level. Theres no player interdependancy, the upgrades just pour in (like anarchy online), and the leveling is fast paced dispite the fact that you're soloing. They may be in the same genre, but they are almost complete opposites.
Once you start raiding they're virtually the same, and it becomes a choice of which game mechanics appeal to you more.
Ug, I didn't notice your mistype. Replace my Everquest with WoW and it just makes my point stronger. If you haven't hit 70 and raided you won't encounter the social aspect of WoW very frequently. Honestly, in Everquest I spent most of my time at max level raiding with my guild. In WoW, I do the same, but if I want to level another alt it dosen't take 3 months.
alrgiht i went to the older commetns, and there were gigantic arguements, and i want to say something going for both sides:
they are both good games, but not the same games. Everquest is for more patient people, and usually isnt very social of a game. WoW on the other hand is more of a faster game. i level in WoW a lot faster than in EQ, but that doesnt mean much. I think their both great games...
How are the peeps on eq2? i left eq1 cause the people became obsessed with gear and no longer played eq for fun but for gear and for competition.
On antonius bayle at least 60-80% are asshats and immature kids.
They flame wow but they are just as bad or worse on the high lvl servers.On the servers were people are lower lvls and don't do high end stuff are much nicer for some reason.
I was on the server ayonae ro and most were pretty nice,but i don't live in the us so i cannot raid.
On Blackburrow and Venekor, at least, people are much more reasonable at this point..if less entertaining. And those of us who flame WoW arent necessarily asshats or kidz ( Im near 60)...we just think WoW blows.
Anyone who wants to play EQ one last time (Original, kunark, Velious) check out EQclassic in google. Over 1500 people have registered in anticipation of this project launching. Maybe cheap, quickie games like WoW that copy everyone else will continue to run, but atleast we can have our fun one last time before we say good bye to the craphole the MMO industry has become. Nothing as groundbreaking as EQ (1999) has been released since. Just "enhanced" graphics and rewards you can get in 5 min.
The Everquest franchise has been declining ever since the Gates of Discord expansion. Anyone who played EQ back when it actually started knows that it hit its peak of awsomeness with Planes of Power. After that it was just one crap expansion after another.

No WoW is how MMO"s should be. A good blend of challenging and fun or easy if you want to call it that. It has a superior interface better support better graphics. I played Everquest for 2 years and it was the biggest waste of 2 years of online time ever. And yes everquest had an incredibly poor graphics engine. WoW's a fine game, but it's shallow. It's the MMO version of Paris Hilton, and it's made for mass appeal. If you like being a sheep, or you're an MMO newbie, WoW's a great game. If you want something a bit deeper, EQ2 is far superior.

Rofl this isn't EQ, it is EQ2. Everquest owns them all anyway. WoW is for kids, EQ2 is for graphics junkies. EQ is THE premier raiding game for people with a brain and some patience.
Excessive PVP is for 10 year olds. What annoys me most about WoW is the dancing. EQ2 looks awesome. I have not played EQ2 but I am looking to have a go at it some time soon. I still Play EQ1 (Since early Kunark) and it still rocks. Only problem is that its not very welcoming for new players.
eq2 does have a lot more content, it doesn't make you take one path to 80. with the latest expansions there have been quite a few new players...a lot from wow actually.
It's really annoying that there isn't an EQ/EQ2 video out there without somebody talking about how WoW is so much better and "EQ2 suxorz WoW rox woot woot." I actually loved playing WoW, but the community made me die a little on the inside every time I played until I eventually quit.
WoW = over funded recreated version of EQ for impatient 12 year olds. Believe me, i have played both, the player quality on EQ was far higher than even high end 70 on WoW.

Dude, if someone were to remove the glitches from Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion then it would be one of the best games out there, and the Halo series probably comes out on top anyway. i'm sorry dduble, what makes you such a fookin expert? i've had some of the best times on wow, i have an amazing guild and formed real, lasting friendships with many people, (before i start getting criticised i do have a real life aswell) but i have never found emptiness in WoW, the late night talks and pissing around with friends are memories ill keep for years, im not saying everquest is any different, but how can you possibly say something like 'wont feel anything but emptiness'?

I do not doubt that you have had fun times on WoW I myself have played WoW and its not to my liking. But the wow base is made up of a very unstable/untrustworthy group of gamers, very young players(10-15) who are at the mercy of their parents for play times, and will most likely move on to another game if wow looses its new appeal and their freinds tell them to.

ALSO! its well known fact that 75% of wow players are infact asian powergamers who farm gold to sell, if wow cannot sustain an income for them, they will leave to find a new game.. wow is also loosing players while everquest is gaining(these gains and losses are very slight and barley go noticed) but can show that even if eq is 10 years old it is still a major mmorpg..And even better, eq went thru a peroid of pumping out expansions that were less then half ass, and thought they could get away

has is its 10 years old. eq being 10 years old makes it a classic and perfect for commercials, or any other marketing. While I feel wow and eq may be similar this is a thing that they differ and it could really help soe. so for those that have an eq account and have not played in 2+ years i encourage you to log back in for a week and re-try eq, because its great and i'd say even greater then the original. i dont agree with the ''emptiness'' comment. the only thing wrong with WoW is that it was made with the casual player in mind, everything is made easy, simply. barely any skill involved. a retard can play WoW and do good. EQ was made for the adventurer, the pure of heart, the thrill seeker. no maps... corpse runs... complete darkness at night... so many things that made the game feel real.

I honestly Like both games a lot, both have their great points and at one point in time I had a live account in both. Me personally though, I prefer EQ due to thats where I started back in 2000 and i feel the quests and lore and all that is better. But as far as fighting battles, I think that goes to wow.

Sorry, you lost me at Everquest isn't a social game.
Also, WoW isn't anything like EQ until you reach raiding level. Theres no player interdependancy, the upgrades just pour in (like anarchy online), and the leveling is fast paced dispite the fact that you're soloing. They may be in the same genre, but they are almost complete opposites.
Once you start raiding they're virtually the same, and it becomes a choice of which game mechanics appeal to you more.

Ug, I didn't notice your mistype. Replace my Everquest with WoW and it just makes my point stronger. If you haven't hit 70 and raided you won't encounter the social aspect of WoW very frequently. Honestly, in Everquest I spent most of my time at max level raiding with my guild. In WoW, I do the same, but if I want to level another alt it dosen't take 3 months.

alrgiht i went to the older commetns, and there were gigantic arguements, and i want to say something going for both sides:
they are both good games, but not the same games. Everquest is for more patient people, and usually isnt very social of a game. WoW on the other hand is more of a faster game. i level in WoW a lot faster than in EQ, but that doesnt mean much. I think their both great games...

How are the peeps on eq2? i left eq1 cause the people became obsessed with gear and no longer played eq for fun but for gear and for competition.
On antonius bayle at least 60-80% are asshats and immature kids.
They flame wow but they are just as bad or worse on the high lvl servers.On the servers were people are lower lvls and don't do high end stuff are much nicer for some reason.
I was on the server ayonae ro and most were pretty nice,but i don't live in the us so i cannot raid.

On Blackburrow and Venekor, at least, people are much more reasonable at this point..if less entertaining. And those of us who flame WoW arent necessarily asshats or kidz ( Im near 60)...we just think WoW blows.

Anyone who wants to play EQ one last time (Original, kunark, Velious) check out EQclassic in google. Over 1500 people have registered in anticipation of this project launching. Maybe cheap, quickie games like WoW that copy everyone else will continue to run, but atleast we can have our fun one last time before we say good bye to the craphole the MMO industry has become. Nothing as groundbreaking as EQ (1999) has been released since. Just "enhanced" graphics and rewards you can get in 5 min.

The Everquest franchise has been declining ever since the Gates of Discord expansion. Anyone who played EQ back when it actually started knows that it hit its peak of awsomeness with Planes of Power. After that it was just one crap expansion after another.
Everquest 2.. seriously, if you think this is a good game, you'd probably be happier playing EQ.. unless you love borked combat mechanics and the ugliest graphics of any video game.. probably ever.

I came to eq1 just after Velious...and to call eq2 graphics the ugliest of any video game..is either stupid or insane...or you need a gear upgrade...it is beautiful on my middle of the road system and much as I love eq1, there is no comparison, graphically. No WoW is how MMO"s should be. A good blend of challenging and fun or easy if you want to call it that. It has a superior interface better support better graphics. I played Everquest for 2 years and it was the biggest waste of 2 years of online time ever. And yes everquest had an incredibly poor graphics engine. It lagged on almost every computer I played it on. Despite how good the PC was. This game had it's time but people seem to want to remember it for "making friends and memories". Retarded

WoW's a fine game, but it's shallow. It's the MMO version of Paris Hilton, and it's made for mass appeal. If you like being a sheep, or you're an MMO newbie, WoW's a great game. If you want something a bit deeper, EQ2 is far superior.

Excessive PVP is for 10 year olds. What annoys me most about WoW is the dancing. EQ2 looks awesome. I have not played EQ2 but I am looking to have a go at it some time soon. I still Play EQ1 (Since early Kunark) and it still rocks. Only problem is that its not very welcoming for new players.

Dude, if someone were to remove the glitches from Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion then it would be one of the best games out there, and the Halo series probably comes out on top anyway. People won't get sick of WoW or any of the other games and play EV2, they'll play EV3 or WoW2 or whatever is out then. All games, no matter how good at the time, die.
