My 96 monte carlo z34 has like 224 000 k on it lol. it doesnt exactly rocket up to 60 that fast .... but once it does reach it.. it will just shoot up to a 100 mph like nothing... so ya ill agree shes really fast... but only if ur wanting to play in the 100s .

So let's see,and just how much money was spent to mod that Monte Carlo so it could beat a slightly modded 'Stang?For about the same as it took to make that GM car go so well, a less expensive supercharger could have been put on that Ford without doing anything inside the engine, and for a lot less money it'd have easily beaten that Chevy. @jlp393 Finally a comment worth some respect. I agree the 5.0 is an awesome engine for it's class. As for the 3.8l, it is indeed a decently reliable engine. It's not what I would use for a high performance car, but I would certainly use it for it's dependability. Another reliable V6, excluding HP from the equation, is Fords 3.0l Vulcan. I've had a couple and I swear they just keep going.

Plus, when only going a 1/4 mile many 5.0 Mustangs have outright beat some 350's simply due to the lighter weight of the car and engine. True the 350 will put out higher peak HP but if the even up the odds a bit and add a 351 to a Fox Mustang the ls engines are likely to end up losing. I am not bias to ford or chevy engines. I just never understood this 5.0 hatred. Their fun cars
@marinedraw Blue smoke is OIL, thus he likely has bad piston rings in his block. A head gasket would result in white smoke from coolant leaking into the chambers. If it's blue smoke I'd start making plans on a rebuild for the block in the near future, perhaps stroking the engine to a 347 :P In the meantime however he is going to start getting a loss of HP and it'll only get worse from the loss of compression.

Must not be much of a cam and driver. My stock '90 LX 5M(silencer removed and alum. driveshaft) would always run right with a GTP. Of course, my LX was about 200 lbs. lighter than a GT and not to toot my own horn, but I'm a pretty decent driver.

I have a 98 z34 and I take 5.0 mustangs all the time. Mines got the stock 3800 in it, N/A and everything. Ford 5.0's are crap. The thunderbird SC and the crown vic 4.6L motors are the ONLY respecable engines ford has made in the last thirty years.

@hozeaquivo2 You do realize the 305 is Chevy's 5.0, right? So talking about something murdering a 5.0 makes no sense. Plus, when only going a 1/4 mile many 5.0 Mustangs have outright beat some 350's simply due to the lighter weight of the car and engine. True the 350 will put out higher peak HP but if the even up the odds a bit and add a 351 to a Fox Mustang the ls engines are likely to end up losing. I am not bias to ford or chevy engines. I just never understood this 5.0 hatred. Their fun cars

@marinedraw Blue smoke is OIL, thus he likely has bad piston rings in his block. A head gasket would result in white smoke from coolant leaking into the chambers. If it's blue smoke I'd start making plans on a rebuild for the block in the near future, perhaps stroking the engine to a 347 :P In the meantime however he is going to start getting a loss of HP and it'll only get worse from the loss of compression.

Must not be much of a cam and driver. My stock '90 LX 5M(silencer removed and alum. driveshaft) would always run right with a GTP. Of course, my LX was about 200 lbs. lighter than a GT and not to toot my own horn, but I'm a pretty decent driver.

Monte has the STOCK supercharged L67 motor. Go look it up if you don't know what it is. 2: Mustang driver did a stupid move. Burn out, on street tires. 3. The 5.o is not that great. Tough shit. Get over it. Lastly 5. If the mustang got more traction at the beginning and had a better driver, it would have been close. JUST CLOSE.

Motor trend took back the cars and told ford that the ford gt didnt touch the vette or porsche, same with the viper. Motor Trend named Porsche and Vette the fastest cars you can buy on the streets.

I have a 98 z34 and I take 5.0 mustangs all the time. Mines got the stock 3800 in it, N/A and everything. Ford 5.0's are crap. The thunderbird SC and the crown vic 4.6L motors are the ONLY respecable engines ford has made in the last thirty years.

@leafsrule16 Lol I modded my Pontiac Bonneville and probably have close to 250HP in it by now, the new Camaros - 426HP stock, ridiculous, if u brought a person from the 70s or 80s into the future to present day, they'd pee their pants over the ZR1 and Z06 and shit like that. Altho, the 80's Caliway Corvettes, they were amazing, 0-60 in something like 3 seconds, soemthing around there, I kno it was a good second faster then the modern ZR1. For back then, it was a god car.
