IWD1 is amazing; i have played and soloed until the Elf Towers with 3 party members, graphics and colors are very beautiful also the size of icons, characters, monsters etc is best than previous D&D.. The game is very linear but if you want play 1 or 2 chars in your pt I suggest this game its very well made for single adventures; sadly this game wasnt included to BG2 otherwise this would be perfect;
Icewind Dale is a pure dungeon crawl - it is combat intensive and takes strategy to beat the many opponents that you are faced with. In the beginning, expect to die a lot! It has great replay value. Overall, it is an amazing game!

In fact all Black Isle games! Baldur's Gate, BG2, IWD, IWD2, NWN, NWN2, Dragon Age series, the Fallout games, oh my goodness, Black Isle + Bioware = epic win!
@nutsolly it's not so deep in storyline (although it is still an engaging storyline) but it is definately worth buying. Anyway, the price is so low now that you should not regret.
Parts of it are from Dragon's Eye aswell from what I can see, and from a little temple that you visit early on. Vale of shadows is only the first mission from Kuldahar; and most of these clips only show early content. Fun game though
