@ursus911 you may need to do some research - look up what Nickel is used in, the 1% Toyota use, that they have a recycling program for is nothing compared to what Nickel is used in. Yes there needs to be development in batteries and most things we consume from the earth - it's a start that we have cars that use a quarter than what they used to. You can't blame Toyota for damage done in the 70's and the plant concerned has made massive progress in cleaning up their processes.
I'd rather drink the acid in the battery than drive one of these things....how anybody can call this an "Eco" car is beyond me....if you want an enviromentaly friendly car, Buy somthing that will last a long time.....sustainability is far more important....If you buy somthing that is Very well built it will last for ever, Toyota has clearly shown that they do not build there "NEW" cars well....if they were built like the old Hilux, then fine....but this is just a waste of money and materials.
i drove the 07 prius, fantastic car, gets around 55 mpg overall, i doubt the fusion gets near 40, and honestly we all know that when ford says 40, that really means in the low 30's. My 01 taurus gets no where near its claimed MPG.
the prius is also much faster due to its 300 lb/ft or torque, compared to the 180 in the taurus V6 gas guzzeler.
The smart key is dumb. If a woman is walking towards her car in a parking lot and dosnt have a clear view of her car; a person could jump in it before she gets there and hide in the back seat.

The Fusion Hybrid gets worse mileage in both City and Highway driving. The Fusion can go farther on a single tank of gas though, due to the fact that the gas tank is about 7 gallons bigger. True, it is a bigger car, but it is not much bigger, and the little bit more space you would get doesn't make up for the extra $6000 it costs.
The 2010Prius gets better mpg than ford 2010 fussion, but the Ford Fusion has bette driveability,more room, USA today rated the Ford without equal,primarily because of superior styleing and btter highway performance

I disagree with that, I don't think it strains it anymore than that load would strain a pickup. The Prius actually has more torque than some pickups. It's definitely not underpowered, it goes up hills better than a 3.9LV6 Pontiac G6 GTP. The Prius is definitely capable of performing well in most environments.

(rented) prius, G6, Buick Lacerne,Nisson,Camry,BMW,Ford fussion,Cad CTS and the one with no punch after 55 mph was/is the prius by the way the camry 6cyl. had an oil pressure problem? Cars driven in AZ, area as a note ,of course the CTS Cad. and BMW where the best of the bunch, although the Buick, &Ford Fussion was/were close and the passengers felt the Buick best as far as wind noise.Prius is ok,just not upto league with those others in this report
I was driving home from a wedding the other day, and I was travelling at around 75 on the highway. Whenever I put it back on Cruise after slowing down for stuff, There was enough punch all the way up to 75 to satisfy me. True it wasn't like flooring it in a sports car, but it was still decent.

With the keys like that, you can sit in a deli with the keys in your pocket whilst someone gets in your car, and steals few items from inside the car. They might also re-park the car in the middle of a road to get your car fined... I should try that sometime!

Hybrids have killed people in accidents, the batteries explode and they don't save gas! Hybrids dont work because they are liberal environmental. They need lots of repairs too. Better to wait for hydrogen and not doing anything until then. Hydrogen is made out of normal, regular fossil fuels so oil companies won't go bankrupt and hurt the economy and lose people's jobs. But if we buy hybrids, oil companies will lay everybody off and ipods will be too expensive. Think about JOBS not saving gas.

I already had my dream car. 1999 GMC Suburban 1500 SLT. Man that was a great car. When you wanted it to move, and you hit that gas pedal, that big V8 fuckin' went! And the brakes were great too. Smooth ride, plenty of space for everything, pretty damn good gas mileage for a suv of its size (16 or 17 mpg i think), extremely reliable, never broke down, never refused to start. Even after some dumb fuck in a, get this, Prius, ran a red light and T-boned me it still started up like nothing happened.

I know there are Hybrid SUVs but they are fuckin' ugly! I mean, whats with all the fucking weird ass angles and curves and shit? Actually not true. Smart key works only a meter or two (few feet) from the car. And you have to press the front door handle to unlock.
So your scenario is very difficult to achieve.

Riandidit That volt is a complete redesign,ground up change .The fuel cell version was the original concept, but the market isn't fuel ready yet.California is the only place I think that is setting up some fueling/charging stations wait and see I suppose.

I disagree with that, I don't think it strains it anymore than that load would strain a pickup. The Prius actually has more torque than some pickups. It's definitely not underpowered, it goes up hills better than a 3.9LV6 Pontiac G6 GTP. The Prius is definitely capable of performing well in most environments.

(rented) prius, G6, Buick Lacerne,Nisson,Camry,BMW,Ford fussion,Cad CTS and the one with no punch after 55 mph was/is the prius by the way the camry 6cyl. had an oil pressure problem? Cars driven in AZ, area as a note ,of course the CTS Cad. and BMW where the best of the bunch, although the Buick, &Ford Fussion was/were close and the passengers felt the Buick best as far as wind noise.Prius is ok,just not upto league with those others in this report

I was driving home from a wedding the other day, and I was travelling at around 75 on the highway. Whenever I put it back on Cruise after slowing down for stuff, There was enough punch all the way up to 75 to satisfy me. True it wasn't like flooring it in a sports car, but it was still decent.

Riandidit The prius 0 to 60 is 10.4 sec.The Pontiac v6GT is 7 sec. The prius is better mpg The Pontiac is Faster and of course has more room Two different cars. The Ford Fusion Hybrid is also better MPG than prius and the Fusion is faster.

Japanese technology is impressive, very impressive. But the problem with the is their ferociousness. They could become on top by simply sitting down and watching GM trying to catch up for several years, but instead they have no mercy. They're trying to destroy GM as well as any other competition. An then we'll have monopolium. The western world will become poor, poeple will be starving, have no jobs and so.

Hybrids have killed people in accidents, the batteries explode and they don't save gas! Hybrids dont work because they are liberal environmental. They need lots of repairs too. Better to wait for hydrogen and not doing anything until then. Hydrogen is made out of normal, regular fossil fuels so oil companies won't go bankrupt and hurt the economy and lose people's jobs. But if we buy hybrids, oil companies will lay everybody off and ipods will be too expensive. Think about JOBS not saving gas.

I already had my dream car. 1999 GMC Suburban 1500 SLT. Man that was a great car. When you wanted it to move, and you hit that gas pedal, that big V8 fuckin' went! And the brakes were great too. Smooth ride, plenty of space for everything, pretty damn good gas mileage for a suv of its size (16 or 17 mpg i think), extremely reliable, never broke down, never refused to start. Even after some dumb fuck in a, get this, Prius, ran a red light and T-boned me it still started up like nothing happened.

lets hear you say that a few years from now when the price of gas is substantially higher than it is now. Unless you're a typical "ignorant american idiot", you should know that the price of gas will only go up. Given the current US economic conditions, people will be buying smaller and more efficient cars. The Prius isn't really that small anyway.

great car and great technology and gas saver... but the primary reason why people buy this car is attention, just like a sports car. why would celebrities and rich people buy it is for one single reason..thet want to get noticed... period.

I just want to save gas. Why does the only car hat gets amazing milage have to look like the car a 50 year old middle school math teacher would drive.
