  • James (BELUSHI) Roark Echo Co 2/6 1983 Jan -June Oct -Nov 1983 air port,CP76 those sounds were crazy we got off the building CP76 2/8 did not

  • Those sounds bring back memories, I taped some also but have no idea what I did with those tapes. I think of Beirut everyday.

  • got there 10 days after the bombing with the 22nd MAU. I will never forget the devastation and loss of life. God Bless all of the Families that lost loved ones over there, and today's Warriors as well. Doc Englund

  • I was there with E Co 2/6, Weapons Platoon. Was there for the bombing of the US Embassy. We started near the middle of the runway, but moved down to the end near some bombed out buildings where we stayed until relieved.

  • @SuperLiftRick I was with Fox 2/6 Weapons Platoon

  • Semper Fi. Lost a good friend in the attack. HM1 Ron Bates

  • The restrictive ROE's kept the Marines from defending themselves. I know that hindsight is 20/20 but any 2nd Lieutenant right out of Basic School could have defended those poor men. Some Colonel should have become a "slick sleeve" and allowed no weapon heavier than a potato peeler for the remainder of his career. A few concrete barriers, some sandbags and one squad of riflemen could have prevented this forseeable nightmare. May God Bless Every Marine and Sailor lost to those fanatics...
