I'm seriously considering buying one of these. Could you pm me and give me your views (if you don't mind). Which one you reccomend? How's the fuel economy? Ok for my 40 mile daily commute? Reliable? Any other advice welcome. Cheers for making the movie.
The beeping is common on 6 speed cars, it is there to make sure you dont accidentally put the car into first gear as that is the next gear along, going forwards instead of backwards or vice versa could be nasty if getting out of a parking space.....
The beeping thing is ok, I used to have it on my Alfa, its just there to remind u incase u pop it into reverse by accident and you want 1st. I am gonna get a mr2 soon also, seen a nice grey with a maroon hood. well nice. nice vid btw.
Having nothing special is good for that car, thats why I love it, with plain features everythings easier to control and see, aswell all the equipment is lighter
@xx9clayton9xx There not very big to be honnest. The drivers side compartment is holding the jack and tools before you even start. I suppose you could fit 3 or 4 bags of shopping behind each seat. But the weird shape means the bags dont sit flat very well.
I had a couple of Mk1 Mr2's including a supercharger, they were so great, I have a T-Sport Celica at the moment which also has the bleeping reverse ! im thinking of getting a mk3 Roadster very soon
@jonnygti Hi there. depends how you look at it. The type-r will always have quicket pace unless its extra twistie roads you are on.
The MR2 is the car to go for if you enjoy driving, Realistically 0-60 is the same as the type-r, the MR2 is consistant in its launch and pulls strong to 60. The type-r is a bugger to launch and you never get in the 6.4 range.
The MR2 turns and brakes faster than a Type-r ever could, and its so rewarding to drive. But saying that, Im returning to the Type-R
Many people leave reverse in the gearbox after parking and when the get back in the car, the gearbox looks like it's in 1st gear. Thats what the beeping does and I think only the UK models have that. Mine doesn't :)
Should have gone for the red leather trim dude. Much more classy. The heating dials are not stock either & agree with you on the annoying beeping! Ive got an 02 Mr2 and thankfully theres no beeping in reverse! There soooo much fun in the snow!
ha ha the MX-5 also makes that horrid noise when you put it into reverse!

Your car is cool and all, but i still love the MR2 of the 1990's. Even can be converted to look like a Ferrari!!

on a 6 speed the reverse is close to the first gear. the beep helps for obvious reasons. it's the same thing on the SMT version.

Not too keen on that shape MR2, but still looks like a nice car.
How does it compare to your old type r? i guess slower for starters? cannot beat the 2.0 Vtec engine :)

Heating dials are stock. The 03 up are different from the 00-02. My 03 is the same as his.
