What happens when you die? Have you told lies, stolen, used God's name in vain? If yes, then you're a liar, thief, and a blasphemer in the sight of God. When you die & be judged by God, you'll be guilty of sin, & go to Hell! But God sent God His Son Jesus to shed His blood & die on a cross for your sins, He was buried & rose again from the dead on the third day. If you'll believe the Gospel(Jesus's death for your sins, His burial & resurrection)you'll not perish & have everlasting life!
No, we do not put the Bible as dead last, even after the words of the prophet. The Bible, in fact, is always FIRST. It's BIBLE, Book of Mormon, D&C and PoGP. In fact, one LDS scholar said that Joseph Smith preached more from teh Bible than from teh Book of Mormon.
Oh, and just because GOD is perfect and without error, MAN is not, and MAN wrote the Bible, therefore, it's only as perfect as those MEN who wrote it, etc.
@lindalds The Bible came before Joseph Smith & is the Standard by which all other writings are to be judged. The written works of every cleverly crafted and cunning cult of Christian counterfeit fails this Compass point miserably. cf Acts 17:11 & Gal. 1:7-9, et al. God is God enough to protect & preserve His Word by His Spirit working through His creation. No creature is beyond the control of the Creator. Selah. Rom. 9 & many other passages testify to that Truth. The problem is wearing LDS lens.
@lindalds - Sorry, you're dead wrong - GOD wrote the Bible through man. When you discount the Bible, you are discounting God the Father, the ONLY God. Stop lying to yourself...the Bible is all you need...man wrote the BOM.
@lindalds The many, many O.T. prophecies of Jesus' life, death & resurrection are fulfilled in the N.T. What other scripture so called can claim such authorship & authority?
Also, dear heart, please specify where in the four Gospels of God there is disagreement between or among each other.
@lindalds umm...the lds boook references civilizations an dcultures that have no historical documentsation?wherse the vast ancient cities?maps..?temples..?horse bones..?descendants?why werent alll the indians speaking hebrew when columbus landed?i mean come ON people!!!!!!!!!!
2 Tim. 3:16 says ALL SCRIPTURE, and we believe that, because the Bible is not ALL scripture. There is nothing in the Bible that mentions THE BIBLE.
If the Bible is without error, then why do the gospels not agree with each other on things like the birth of Christ and the finding the empty tomb? If it were without error, those things would be in TOTAL agreement.
You sound like you worship the Bible. The Bible does not have to be perfect, or inerrant, to be the word of God.
@lindalds When the N.T. was written the O.T. Bible had been in existence for hundreds of years. The 4 Gospel accounts were written by 4 apostles. In contrast there are 9 widely different versions of the first vision account by one Joseph Smith. And perhaps you could point us to the passages purported to present meaning different than was Holy Spirit intended.
The many, many O.T. prophecies of Jesus' life, death & resurrection are fulfilled in the N.T. What other "scripture" can claim same?
@lindalds "Even Mormon apologists have to admit that many of the variants are only minor in nature. Dr. Anderson, a Mormon scholar and authority in the LDS Church on biblical manuscripts, also recognises that the variations in the New Testament manuscripts are essentially insignificant. Anderson notes the overwhelming agreement between the thousands of manuscripts; he explains that '...all manuscripts agree on the essential correctness of 99% of the verses in the New Testament...
@awolLDSasap bro, yes, having other gods is like attempting to commit spiritual suicide - not a helpful place at all to be. Let our lives ever be for the worth & worship of the One Beautiful God, Christ Jesus, the uncreated Creator of all creation - not a church, not a cult, not a corporation, but the Almighty Who describes Himself in more than a few passages of Holy Scripture as a ***Jealous*** GOD, a ***Consuming*** FIRE.
@Shulamitefire Wanna hear something corny? I ran across a comment posted by Boon. He said the lds church is the way, the truth, the life because it has Jesus name in it. They are truely lost in mystical world.
@awolLDSasap The LDS church has had at least five different names. In 1834 the name was changed to the "Church of Latter Day Saints." If the church name is evidence of being the one true church, then the LDS church could not have been true between 1834 & 1838, since neither Jesus nor Christ were in the official name of the LDS church during those years!
