  • Nice try and I take my hat off to you but there are still many faults. I say practice makes perfect !

  • it's not right!

  • hi, can you give me the sheet of this music?

  • awsome marc :) nice tutorial :)

I'd like to see more videos :)

    Keep posting mate

    cheers :)

  • So.. how many years do i have to practise piano to play like this ?? =)

  • 3 years ago i went to colorado for a holiday vacation. the last day we stayed there, we wen to a skiing shop . as my dad was renting the ski's, there was a piano there. i played the following songs. lionel richie easy, journey dont stop beliving, and faithfully. when i played the songs, it sounded crappy scince i was only 8 yrs old. but for some reason the people liked it. now im going here this winter.i am going to play this song. i will tell them about this video. thank you marcvanbeest. :)

  • Roland. What else?

  • thanks its a cool tutorial but do you have sheet ?

  • nice tutorial, but a suggestion regarding technique: try bending the finger a little, it looks like you forcing them to be straight with a lot of tension and then proceed with force from the hand, rather than having the fingers do the work - i'm not a professional, but that is my impression.

  • Great Tutorial in the way that one wanders through the individual passages. And at last I can see how you go down through the scales to achieve that professional touch. May take me at least 6 weeks though - as a beginner. Still, it's reassuring to see that it can probably be achieved, given some time and effort.

  • nice tutorial. very well done. no frills, right to the point!! 5/5 Stars. :)

  • @fopola Thanks!

    -Marc

  • nice tutorial. very well done. no frills, right to the poing!! 5/5 Stars. :)

  • handige video om wat technieken te leren

great vid to learn some techniques

to the guys who ask for sheets : personally I dont like sheets at all , boogie, rock and blues piano comes from the

soul , watch , learn , practice and practice again ,and create your own songs with the things you learned from vids on youtube or just from CD's !

    awesome skills , great vid

  • @xfgher Thank you very much!

    -Marc

  • @xfgher That is weird .. sheet music is nothing but something written down to communicate the melody and harmony to be played. Just because someone can read musical notes off a sheet so that he can memorize it quickly ... much quicker than someone who can't read music - would have to watch multiple video over and over again. Stupid people who can't read music always have that asinine shit in the head thinking that somehow reading music would make you not playing with soul .. STOOPID !!

  • @datmpham well as a matter of fact , I can read music , followed a lot of music school... but I think it's not the same , at least not for me , I sit behind my piano , close my eyes and play what I feel. When someone else writes it down for you , it limits your fantasy , of course it's a good start to learn music and certain 'moves' but I compare it too a movie and a book , a movie is nothing more than a story brought in picture but it limits you fantasy :)

  • @xfgher Well...so you said it ... the music sheet is a good start to quickly learn the melody - the harmony frame - then when you get proficient with it, no one stops you from changing out the pieces. Otherwise why would anyone look at the tutorial for the fingering ?? wouldn't that limit your fantasy? why even listen to any CD .. wouldn't that limit your fantasy too ?? if that is the case, you should not listen nor look at anyone ...just sit there and fantasize all day long :-)

  • marcvanbeest,

    THANKS ALOT!!

my grandparents are getting there 50th aniversary and they wanted me to play a boogie from the old days

and you made that dream of them come true :D

    I own u one!

  • can you give me the score? pleaseee

  • good

  • Welll,, just curious,, have you ever put this to paper? Love the way you play it and show it nice and slow

  • Welll,, just curious,, have you ever put this to paper? Love the way you play it and show it nice and slow

  • You have a great ear. A great lesson on using intervals and passing-through via half steps. Terrific job. Thanks for the post.

  • @sadsack987 Thank you!

    -Marc

  • @sadsack987 I`m sorry I have to disagree, this is not what Johan plays. Just one example : on the intro , it`s octaves not sixths and so on and so forth.......it`s an approximation but far from an exact copy.

  • @Mynelka You need to read the video-info before commenting on a video. It says this version isn't accurate. M newer version is more accurate compared to Johan Blohms version. I hope you like that version more!

    -Marc

  • I am amazed of how your fingers ability to reach long distances from 1st. to 5th. finger. Really a big advantage for piano players. I wish i had such hands :)

  • It is a big advantage indeed! Enjoy my other vids as well!

    -Marc

  • Thank you so much ! you're awesome

  • @MrJr01 Thanks!

You really should watch the tutorial update as well!

    -Marc

  • Thanks very much for sharing. Highly appreciated!

  • Thank YOU! Make sure you watch the tutorial update too. That one is more accurate!

    -Marc

  • can you give me a sheet for this song? pleas :-) it's good to play ;-)

  • I'm no pianist and you can certainly play well, but that is an awfull version of Blohm

  • Before you comment on a video, you really should read the video-info first.

In that case you would've known that I already mentioned this version isn't very accurate. So, please make sure you read the video-info next time and make sure your spelling is right.

  • crazy fingers

    it's amazing

  • I agree with Ronald 36587

  • I know a lot of people would highly appreciate it, if I would make a sheet. But because it is very hard for me to read sheet music and my midi-usb doesn't work well at the moment it is somewhat impossible to make a sheet... :-(

Therefore, I hope my 2 tutorials will do justice.

    -Marc

  • 1st I'd just like to say i love your cover of johan blohm's boogie but please, if you could ever find the time, could you write the sheets for it ? The best part of 50,000 people would thank you for it.

  • Thank you for your compliment!

I am thinking about writing sheets for it, but I do not have a program to write a sheet or something. I searched on the internet for a while, but I did not find anything for free.

So if anyone has a suggestion...

I hope you will like my other videos as well!

    -Marc

  • @marcvanbeest try finale notepad, its a free 30 day trial

  • Thanks for your comment! I tried it with MuseScore 0.9.5 but somehow my midi usb driver doens't work. And without any midi input from my piano, it is impossible to make a sheet...

So for now my tutorial is the only key to explain the song!

    -Marc

  • There is a kind of Blues I would like to Know its name...

Is pure Piano and voice...an example: My Melancholic Blues of Queen.

Could anyone tell me what style or genre is that?, please.

  • amazing !!!! man you are god

  • Thank You!

Watch my update tutorial too. In that video I play more accurate!

    -Marc

  • Fantastic Technique -You should make some slower versions of this video so we can really pick out the notes -I would love to learn this Tune -and the bass wow takes months of Practicing to get that left hand Rock'in -cheers great Job .

  • Thanks! I did make a slower version recently, check out my channel.

  • Hi marcvanbeest! Du you happen to have sheets for this song? Thanks

  • I learned the song by ear. So I don't have any sheets. That's why I made this tutorial.

    -Marc

  • wow that s a really Advanced Boogie -.

  • Thanks! Take a look at my new version which I played on a jumble sale: watch?v=4lIK2O1hjXA

That version is much better and more accurate!

  • i don't think the intro is correct... even without hearing johan's version first I can pretty much say the notes are different...

  • I know. The video info also says that this version isn't accurate. Watch my new version of the Blohm's Boogie. (You can click on the link in the video info).

I hope you'll like that one better.

  • Whoa! try slowing down abit. It's no good going at that speed if some of the notes are incorrect. Try practising this at a slower speed until you are certain of all the technicalities then you can speed it up.

Thanks anyway for the insight into this amazing boogie!

  • Nice ! It really shows how the Boogie is constructed !!! Thanks Bro !

  • Thanks!

  • great job! if you willp do the partition i ll buy it from you :)

  • Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't have a partition. I only have this tutorial.

  • Thanks for that, but I'd also like to know what to play in the right hand while im doing C/F in the left.

  • Could you please specify? I don't know what you mean exactly. ;-)

  • What im asking is, what you played at the begining (when the left hand starts to boogie) what do I play IN the left hand and when do they change?

e.g. If i played C, EC in the right hand, i'd have to play in the key of C in the left.

  • You just need to play the left hand riff which I explained in the previous comment in F.

In september I'm able to make video of a more accurate version on a real piano :D

Maybe I'll make a new tutorial video. And I'll try to play it in slow motion while both hands are visible at the same time. I hope you can wait until mid-september ;-)

  • Thanks for that. I'll do my best until september.

  • Hey, I'm practising this but I can't get the left hand right. Can you tell me in the first two segmants at what piont do i change from the key of F to C.

  • Good comment, I'll try to explain.

    In C:

    C C (Eb+A) C (E+G) C (F+A) (E+G)

(While playing this is the moment your middle finger is at the E-key)

Now you need to change to F (with your little finger):

    F F etc...

It takes some practise to get (E+G) to F F smooth.

I hope this helps. Boogie 'on :-)

  • a bit different from johan.. but i like it..

  • Thanks, I know this version is a bit different. I already can play it more like Johan now. In september I'll get the chance to record some boogie woogie on a real piano :D So then I'll upload a better version of it, which is more swinging too.

  • aight.. keep it cool, dude!

  • make it quick, dude.. n also the tutorial..im waitin..

  • Those right there, are the hands of a giant lol

  • go slow

  • Btw, where's the left hand?

  • The left hand is shown at the beginning. I need 1 hand to hold the camera ;-) Because I don't have a (easy) way to connect my camera above my piano...

  • Oh sorry, I didn't notice that.

  • No problem, Boogie on! :D

  • You should really get sheet music for this.

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • how can i get the sheetmusic?

  • thx ~!

  • Thank you very much for posting this video - any further tutorial videos that you might upload to Youtube would be deeply appreciated.

    I've studied this already. :)

By the way, what model of Roland are you using?

  • Hey, it's me again, do u got any sheets of this?

  • I'm sorry, I only got this tutorial, because I don't read sheet music. But if there's any trouble with some riffs you can always ask me. This tutorial isn't even that accurate too. I hope I'm able to perfect it soon with some accurate riffs of Youtube-user 'johnlord1' 's version of the song.

  • No no, vid is great... Thing is I'm suck probably... 0_o Ok, sorry for takin your time.. Thanks for this tutorial.

  • thanks!!! nice work!!!

    helpful stuff!

  • No problem! And Merry Christmas ;D

  • great video for learning a great boogie song! very easy to learn from. Thanks to who posted this!

  • No problem. It's not very accurate to the original video. I need to update them somehow, because I now can play it more accurate. Only a 3rd version sounds a bit dull ;-) (so if you have any suggestions? :P )

  • I like boogie and I play piano. This help me a lot. thanks for posting this video. Very instructive. I will be expecting more from you. Great work!!! 5* for ya.

  • Thank you! Soon as I got some time to record a new boogie, I will tape some more.

  • thank you

  • You're welcome :)

  • Hey, thanks for the reply menssaje i wanted to tell you that if I could pass the score.

  • I don't have the score and I don't read sheet music. You can watch this tutorial or the tutorial of youtube-user 'johnlord1' who has posted a videoresponse on this video.

  • hola me llamo marc, me gustaria tener la partitura

  • The 'hola' part I understand but the rest...O_o

Can you please translate your comment to English or Dutch?

  • Hij heet ook Marc en wil graag de partituur, maar ik neem aan dat je hem niet op papier hebt staan. ;)

  • thanks for the tutorial. But were I can find the score of this music?

  • Nowhere, this tutorial is the only thing I have :P

  • Nice.. thanks a lot! Hey.. I was in Netherlands twice, but I've never heard a Boogie Woogie from Dutch. Great work, thanks.

  • Thank you!

  • hij is niet helemaal hetzelfde, maar toch nog 99% respect man! Ik ga hem cker oefene:p

  • Thank you soo mutch. Finaly somebody show how you play that song;)

  • No problem :)

  • Really good played !!! I'm also very interest in playing boogie.

I'm looking for the boogie notes from Johan Blohm but I can't find them. Did you learn the boogie by hearing or by reading notes ?

I would be very happy about an answer, thx.

  • I practiced it by ear.

  • I forgot to say; Thanks for your comment ;-)

  • Johan Blohm doesnt got the note version of the version that is on youtube. I asked him about it personally. Every time when he performs the play he makes a variation of it.

  • damn Marc, you the man! :D
