    Andrew age 60 from UK

enjoyed it so much, must be hard to remember where you are in the song as its so long.

  • Very nice job...thanks for sharing

  • fucking awesome

  • wow

  • 2:09 <---- link to lesson section.

  • You are absolutely amazing - love your own spin on this song too!!

  • Outstanding...I just learned the song on acoustic guitar after many years of thinking this was too much of a song to try...nice job and thanks a million for sharing your work. I bet you would do a great job on Pinball Wizard too !

  • @m500987 I do have a version online. It was one of my first videos. Search "The Who - Pinball Wizard cover".

  • who in the fuck would vote they dont like that? the part that starts @ 6.07 is the best..

  • @DieselDave3 Thanks Dave. Nice to learn that some people watch through to the end.

  • @vonhasselbach well i just watched it through again (for like the 10th time ;), love the "A" chord licks and tricks.thanks for the lesson, Dave

  • who in the fuck would vote they dont like that?

  • dude this is greatest cover ive seen in a long time

  • I have to tell you, the music I missed in the full productions is massive. Really nice melodies here! Yeah, the little E is slightly tight, but who cares really? Take care of that cough bug. I love your stuff.

  • @martinaxman Thanks Martin. By the way, it wasn't easy, but I did finally shake that cough.

  • Thanks! That was a big help!!

  • I don't think Pete will fingerpick in this song

  • excellent job. :) even better than pete acoustic i'd day :)

  • o top marks, really great,am gonna practice this till my hand's are sore and then some more till i get it just right thank you v much

  • woah

  • you got the title wrong and you call this a lesson? your just playing it.. then slightly slower. some verbal instruction would help..

  • @N30N94 It depends on your level. I found it very helpful and full of excellent techniques. You're looking for more beginner stuff maybe. Save these and get back to them when you're ready.

  • ありがとーう!

  • Freakin' awesome!! Really nice work! Thank you for making this excellent vid.

  • cough cough on 2:27, good job

  • Wow!

  • fuckin rockin dude!!

  • Brilliant job, top stuff!!

  • hey there i been playing allmy life im 49 i cant fucking believe how good you are hats off buddy

  • Your fingerpicking right?

  • @SloanColassard Yes, I'm using both my pick and the fingers of my right hand.

  • @vonhasselbach thanks alot

  • @vonhasselbach How would ya do that?

  • @buggld It's not hard with a little practice. See my Juy 2007 video called Hybrid picking guitar riff. It shows how you pick with fingers and guitar at the same time.

  • Oh, and i take back what I said about that dope smoking cough. I've reconsidered and i think its from breathing raw kerosene fumes from those jets landing and taking off right over your head all day. How's real estate prices there? haha

  • so I'm curious, do you just do stuff by the who? or do you do other stuff? where do you learn it? just by ear? do you use it in a band or just teach it? i'd be curious to watch/hear any stuff you do in a band...

  • great guitar play'n!

  • I thought this would be crap. I was wrong. Well done mate.

  • Great technique and timing, Drew. Do you dampen the strings somewhat with the heel of your right hand to give the effect or is it the semi acoustic nature of the guitar? Not sure about the last comment about tightening the screws though. Seems tuned correctly to me.

  • @gurneytabs This is something I obviously do subconsciously. I never thought about it until you asked. Yes indeed, I find do myself dampening the strings with my right hand. I guess I do it to rein in the open strings.

As for Mr. Zaneman's remark, my guess is that he's referring to the screws that attach the tuning machines to the headstock. Yeah, they could probably use a tweak. It was a helpful observation.

  • thats some ok playin' there bud...maybe tighten up the screws a bit...

  • Awesome playing man!!! This is one of my favourite Townsend pieces and you have nailed it. Songs like this don't come along very often. Takes me back to a truly great time in rock music. I will have a great time playing along with you! Thanks again for taking the time to post this. You have done it proud.

    Pete himself would be proud!

  • Thanks man!

  • @vonhasselbach THE HELL MAN HOW DO YOU DO THAT AND WHERES THE TAB!!!

  • Sorry, but I don't do tabs. However, the second part of the video does show close ups of my fingerings. dh

  • bravo

  • Great job!I would love to have a tab of this version of the song.

  • This is the best cover interpretation I've ever heard of 'Won't Get Fooled Again'...well done!

Look forward to seeing & hearing more of your posts.

    cheers

  • 5 Stars. good demonstration of a classic. post it on " vanderbilly"so we can loop it. Thanks

  • Great vid,really helped

  • thanks man, has made me pick up my guitar again,

    thank you

  • what the hell you playing? you got the double dot on the 7th fret there? never seen that before?

  • I'm from Canada. I think it's because 9 frets American is only worth 7th frets Canadian.

  • You got to quit smoking.....wicked cough

  • It's chronic asthma.

  • Sorry about that.....Brilliant playing...very enjoyable

  • 5 stars. I used your start in my cover posted as a reply. CHeck it out. Thanks,.

  • That's a great help. Thanks a lot!

  • I really like it !

  • 5 stars. you sound great and nice demonstration.

  • that was a great demo - thank you!

  • sounds really good¡¡¡¡

  • is it on the key of G??

  • Dunno. If I had to guess, I'd say A. But I really just think of it as being in the key of kickass loud.

  • Outstanding!! you should look into that cough though...

  • Congratulations for an excellent rendition, execution and insight into your skill. THis one goes down as a 'fav'!

btw: r u playing with a pick or just fingers (or combination)?

    Cheers!

  • Thank you kindly. I play with both my fingers and the pick. It's called hybrid style.

  • now imma learn this song, sounds awsome bro, keep rocking

  • cool

  • Great Job. 5 stars and subscribed. Keep em comming.

  • are you on crack or something. hold that thing still

  • It's not too easy to do when you're playing a Who song, trust me.

    ----

Thanks for the video man. I always play it with power chords, because it's easier that way, and my hands don't get as tired over the span of seven or so minutes.

I finally know how to play the intro on a guitar.

  • ya left out the bridge... you know, where he sings "I'll move myself and my family aside / If we happen to be left half alive'

  • well done, guy

  • Well done but it's so good that it's depressing. How can we possibly copy that. Please do the simple parts to at least give us mere mortals some chance!.

  • i like it even more than petes acoustic version :D

  • what guitar is this?

  • Washburn Woodstock Studio-A semi-acoustic.

  • DAMM your GREAT

  • this is definitely the best cover of this song on you tube... love that into

  • great cover! You play it well. How did you come to these chord combinations? I usually play it with A-C-G for the primary riff.

  • Excellent!

    Pete would be proud!

  • Awesome!!! keep up the great work!!!

  • Comment removed

  • no, it's a synth...

  • man i worship u gotta put up a vid being more specific ive been dying to see this

  • Gran lección!!

  • looks like your hand is getting a nice workout there haha... very nice job

  • very interesting

  • Fantastic!!! Thanks.

I love it when people say Townsend's music is simple to play. They should try.

  • i know!!!! what i think is even cooler is the fact that he thought of all of it. gawd, if i wrote songs like THAT though...and people were saying they were easy to play...i would be perfectly fine with that.lol.

  • Anything on Townsend i love, un you made a good example, well done!!

What guitar is it! at a guess...Yamaha LL

    series?

  • Washburn

  • reaaaaaaaaaaally cool!

  • kick ASS

  • Excellent! Watching your fingers tangle and untangle like that whilst producing an awesome version of Pete's song was....uh, how you say...magnificant? yes! 5 stars for you.

  • This lesson MEANS, very well played.

Can´t understand the idiots who complaint about this video.

Again, well played and very instructive!

  • I've wanted a guitar arrangement of the keys (a la Van Halen, only better 'cause that sucked...) of this forever. For anyone interested in learning, you did a great job. This was mostly a lesson - not a performance. And as a lesson it was just great, assuming that you know enough guitar to follow along. I can't thank you enough - fantastic!

  • Can I suggest you invest in some cough mixture?

  • Great work!

  • Are you joking man? It's great, and helpful...

  • What, its a great video, quit bitching.

  • A proper musician wouldn't need it to be explained note for note like you!

  • Awesome! I should learn this song... Oh, well, I gotta learn Pin-B and the Seeker first. Thanks!

  • Well, Townshend's version on the Policeman's Other Ball with John Williams _was_ my favorite arrangement. Bravo!

  • Where did you learn that..

    really cool

  • and can we form a band

  • i just cant get enough of this, too good..

  • this is godly...

    love the intro

    love it all well done!

  • badass

  • awesome, sounds incredible. did you tab this yourself?

  • Thanks. Sorry, there's no tab. I just play by ear. I can't write out tabs because I have a short attentio ...

  • you got some ear, dude. Great job.

  • Is that you Pete???Well done!!!

  • Very cool! 5*****

  • wow, the way you did the keyboard intro was amazing.
