  • I just picked this up, such an awesome snare

  • Ah man, I had no idea brass rings so much more than the aluminum... How can I lessen mine so it's more like aluminum? I have an Evans HDD on the batter side and an Evans Glass 500 on the reso side.

  • @pxavier91 add some muffling to it. maybe something like tape (either electrical or gaffa). it'll take out much more ring than moongels, but it's probably might make the sound really dead, so don't put too much. i hope this helps.

  • COOL!

  • this snare is really kick ass.. want one...

  • dude, you're not gonna find a better snare drum for this money. yeah, the black beauty has more body and better tone, but for a little over $200, i mean, come on, this is a nasty snare.

  • just bought this at guitar center for $219.99 i LOVE it.

  • black beauty is better but this gives more attack and is like half the price if i recall correctly.

  • Still sounds great though.

  • You missed a lug!

  • If ya''ll want to hear more of this snare in a live band situation chek out some of my videos with pistol packin mama..... got to my channel check out the tracktor song. This snare takes on a whole different vibe when played live.

  • @emaculate I'm curious to hear how this snare sounds in less than 240p quality. If you could spare the time, would you mind posting a vi....oh, wait...

  • @xawno113 lol yeah seriously. can't hear a freakin' thing.

  • @tmbasser sorry bout the quality.

  • @tmbasser for some reason every time i record it seems like the quality is higher. when i put the videos up it comes out like shit..... i use a sony handy cam with hq what the hell am i doing wrong?

  • @emaculate probably using a USB cord. You need to do Digital Capturing.

  • @emaculate Doesn't matter, Ludwig black beatuy still owns it.

  • @spikeman23 For sure!!!

  • Sounds great!

  • i have mine tuned low. i love the body it has when its like that. just grab a moon gel and your set

  • ring is good for a snare drum. i love the sound of this thing tuned high.

  • I own this but recently purchased the 6.5x14 black beauty. The pork pie doesn't even compare to it.

  • @spikeman23 what does

  • @jts024 Nothing that i know of. Before i bought my black beauty i was like ehh it's not going to sound that much different than my pork pie black brass. Wrong. As soon as i pulled the black beauty out of the box and whacked it a few times it made the pork pie sound like a cheap imitation.

  • @spikeman23 Black Beauty is definitely one of the best out there, but for one third of the price I would much rather get one of these Pork Pie knock offs. And plus in my opinion the snare sound doesnt effect the quality of the music any more or less past a certain point, it only matters to the percussionist.

  • @DancesWithNarwhals I never said this was a bad snare because it's not. For the money it's one of the better brass snares in it's price range. But in my opinion the black beauty is a better snare sound and buildwise.

  • Bought it after I saw this clip. And I don't regret it!

  • i am between this, tama artwood 14x 6.5 and pork pie litlle squealer maple snare drum 14x7 can someone tell me which will the best??? i play mostly all the genres and i like almost every snare sound

  • @xxxnityninexxx i would get this drum or the little squealer

  • @yadrummer11 will the puresound blasters snare wires and a evans reversed dot eliminate the ring???

  • @xxxnityninexxx well you dont need to worry about the snares or really the head for the ring just get a moon gel and ull be all good

  • @yadrummer11 well i dont really like muffling the snare drum because it looks bad but maybe i will put an e-ring on it should i get this or the Pearl Masters MCX Snare Drum???

  • @xxxnityninexxx well if u want it to look good and muffle then i think the evans EC2 head would be good it kills the overtones

  • @xxxnityninexxx i would go wit the tama art star. The pork pie is a great drum but it isnt versatile enough for some who plays all genre. the tama sounds good in all tuning ranges. high medium and low.

  • I can't decide between getting this or the 13 x 7 vented little squealer. I haven't played on either (and have no ability to) Anyone have any suggestions?

  • that drum sounds really good ... i liked the first tuning better ... it was crisper

  • I own this =)

  • U can play but u don't care for it right you tighten the head by tightening the bolts diagonaly not all of them right next to each other

  • i bought this... the sound pop right through ur chest

  • i know. my friend was on my account.

  • This snare is amazing. For the price, you will not find a better sounding drum. I grew up playing Ludwigs, but after hearing this and seeing the price, it was a no brainer. I've had mine for two years now and I have no regrets. No, I don't work for Pork Pie. The rest of my set up is Sonor. I haven't even found a Sonor for a comparable price that sounds as good as this Pork Pie.

  • I really want this thing!

  • Troll much puchdro vvv

Sounds epic. But not better than my 100th anniversary Ludwig black magic

  • ur tuning it wrong retard,

  • Gotta get one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how this one compares to the Ludwig Black Beauty? is it true that sound alike?

  • they sound close enough but that's just my opinion memphis drum shop has a lot of videos on the black magic snare so you might want to look those up to compare them

  • sounds awesome
