I wonder how much he regretted listening to the advise he got to pass up the character that would never amount to anything - Elliot Ness on The Untouchables series? Poor guy! Loved him in Yours Mine and Ours.
I happen to think that Van Johnson was the sexiest man of his time...I saw "Last Time I Saw Paris"...and I was hooked. I wish we had more cavalier men such as Mr. Johnson in this day and age.
I so admire Van Johnson, who is still going strong at the age of 90+. Please search YouTube for the clip of him dancing on "I Love Lucy" if you haven't seen it. It's just indescribable. :-)
Also, note how only the men stand up --- not the ladies --- when Van leaves the set. It sure was a whole different world back then, huh?!
A great actor near the end of his leading man status atthis pint. Had a second career up to the late 60's as a well-sought-after second banana/charaacted actor.
Van Johnson is/was a great actor. I can't help feeling there was more behind this than jus walter Winchell writing he was going to be on the What's My Line Show.
Steve Allen and Van Johnson were classy stars.

Steve Allen salvaged some of his botched appearance with that one-liner at 1:33 !!!
