god that vibrato man - bad guitarists hit the wrong notes. good guitar players hit the right notes. amazing guitar players like Dime make the right notes their bitches!
@everyoneishappy123 well a bad player hits notes koz he wants to hit them too. my point was that its not what you play but how you play it, thats my motto!
Alright, so I have a stupid question to ask. It's sort of complicated to explain, but I don't want any smart asses biting my head off over it. It's simply an ignorant question coming from an ignorant person out of curiosity. At 2:00 Dimebag Darrell plays a solo from the song Floods, on the Great Southern Trendkill album, which was released in 1996. But he plays this solo in 1988, so I was wondering, was this solo like.. A side project of some sort before it was made known in the song Floods?
@Baizas34 It was prolly just somethin he had the idea of but it took them that long where he felt comfortable recording that along with the rest of the track....who knows how many more amazing licks he had tucked away
@Baizas34 dimebag probably just had that riff hidden away in his godly genius brain. maybe he just decided to bring it out 8 years later... it's possible.
20 lil bitches sittin on a tree s-u-c-k-i-n-g. first come the big cocks, then come the little. That' not all, that's not all then they come back to suck dime's balls.
Thats it I fucking quit guitar. Dime was a badass motherfucker. I bet even Vinne & Rex were like holy shit..........They didn't even play through half the jam.....
FLOODS at the 2:00 minute mark almost 10 years before "great southern trend kill"...just goes to show you Dime had material that stood up to any genre any style at any point in rock/metal history...you are the greatest of all time R.I.P. Dime!!!
@Ben0itZ Possibility it was one of DIme's originals that became battery. There's a story behind it but MetallicA may have jacked a riff or two from DIme in 84/85.
@Ben0itZ They were friends. In 84 or 85 they came down to TX to hang out with them all. MetallicA wasn't BIG yet so they weren't untouchable yet. There's a pic with DIme with a white 24 fret ML and james with a cherry burst one, that's when they came down.
@mesiebooga whoa whoa whoa now hold on a sec.... to say metallica wasn't big in 84/85 is not a valid statement. Metallica at that point was the most popular band in underground music. Although they didn't quite throw thrash into more mainstream audiences till '86, they were always selling out their concerts, and their first 2 albums charted well considering they nearly threw out a genre people didn't quite understand yet. I have a dvd of their concerts (pre-puppets) and they looked pretty big
@Ben0itZ Well I was meaning compared to their Arena status of 88 on. They did have some big gigs in the early days but their mainstream success was a few years later. In 86 they were still opening for Ozzy, I had a interview with lars from right after MOP was released. He was saying how it sucked because they only had like a 45 minute set which couldn't even cover the MOP alone. He joked about James and Lars playing on one side of the stage playing new stuff and Kirk and Cliff playing old stuff.
@mesiebooga i see i see..... yeah '88 was a big year for them, they finally cracked the billboard top 10 and received some commercial success. And Seatle '89 must have been their biggest and best concert.
taht band neermore probly looked at this video and like some parts enought to make into riffs for thei band lol, only reason i say that is cuz my friend listenst to them and i pointed it out
3:38 Revelation Mother Earth...on steroids!! EPIC performance by the master at a ridiculously young age man. R.I.P Randy and Dime (Burn in hell nathan gale you fucken retard)
@72SGMAN Yeah, they're watching Dime playing from an easy-chair and think it isn't cool. Wish I could see them doing anything even half as better as this, but I know I'm asking for impossible. There'll be no one else like him.
We opened for Pantera back then a few times in a band called Filthy Rich and I remember once at Cardi's Houston waiting for him to do sound check so I could, and after watching him warm up I DID NOT want to do mine, I felt like a creaton next to him, even back then he was special!
Every day, millions of Americans suffer from Post-Pantera Syndrome, a debilitating condition that can hinder everyday life. Unfortunately, the only known cure to this condition was murdered 6 years ago, but treatments to help prevent further progression do exsist. @benjispeaks this was recorded 1988...The Great Southern Trendkill, the album that Floods was featured on was released in 1996, it would appear he wrote that riff and carried it around for 8 years until he could find a proper place for it
