The end is pretty easy. As long as you pick up the infrared goggles in the warehouse leading to the fight with the end. You can also just skip the fight entirely by shooting him with the sniper rifle before they roll him in in his wheelchair after the cut-scene of volgin punching a hole in the wall. Then you'll only have to fight a couple of n00b ass snipers who are easy to kill.
The End boss battle was definitely alot of fun, but he used to scare the shit out of me.I was in the prone position in a patch of grass waiting for his ass to slip up next thing I know I hear the phrase "This is the End"the bastard was directly behind me! It gave me a fucking heart attack LOL
If you pass out by tranqualizers that the end shoot, you get the RECKLESS BOY.. >:) cutscene. But i, for some reason, reach 0 stamina cause of tranqs, and still dont pass out, Yippe :)
what you did is just killed "the end" in the second time, all we want to know is what method did you used to get his "moss uniform" how did you get behind him?
@JasonDeRipper I haven't played this is quite a while, but that sounds about right. You could also go into your system configuration, and advance the date one week to speed up the process.
@JasonDeRipper I have heard that too but I have never tried that. I do know you can actually kill The End before you get to this battle so you won't have to fight him. You can actually snipe him when you first see him in the swamp. I think the part I am thinking of is right after you kill The Pain.

2.Don't you go running around like crazy.Take your time,have pacience and be careful to not make big noises.Try to go crounch.
3.After damage him don't give him time to recover his life(he eats animals just like snake).Instead use this chance to deal even more damage since he lets his guard down.
4.After you kill him you can get his riffle in some place near where he dies.

Since 'The End' has a headset that magnifies all sounds, he can easily hear you approach if your careless. You have to pinpoint his location, go around to where he is, then get down and crawl up to him then hit him. Just don't get too close, or else he'll shoot or use a flash grenade.
@DBarns7 Oh! One more thing. Needless to say this, make sure when you approach him, do it from the back or the sides. Just thought I'd stress the point.
@marceleleco He says " Spirits of the forest... lend me your strength " and heals up slowly, but can heal up a ton of stamina and ruin your non lethal kills and eventually you have no ammo for the Hush puppy gun, Cig Spray pwnage.. begins.

I was having a hard time with the end but then I decided do just like him,sneaking.You have no idea how happy I was when I managed to shot him for the first time without he notices me.I think I will play it again to try grab him.I heard there is some reward if you do,maybe some camo.

The way I done this was by just running around, i got lucky and found him pretty quick, didn't even take me an hour :D but I started the game again and used your technique after finding out that I suuuuuper lucky, your technique is quite good, well done, well posted.
When I first played this I was fighting the end for over 3 hours I lost so much ammo and shit and didnt have a microphone either and got shot a lot by him so I got poisoned and what not near the end of 3 hours I ran out of sniper ammo and couldnt find anymore anywhere and I was forced to use my pistol in such he had like 1 more shot to kill him barely cm of health left I was looking around first person with my pistol And I saw a small glimpse of movement and shot killing him The end is the best!

I did this level yesterday and I have a few tips how to do this efficiently
1. GO GET A SNIPER RIFLE. I know it seems silly but I didnt veer west just before this cut scene and I didnt find the dragunov
2. MOVE FAST. I know this seems silly aswell but this isn't like MGS1 with Sniper wolf; you need to keep following this guy. Use the directional mic; hear the breath, and let him shoot you so he comes up on your radar.
3. FOLLOW HIS FOOTSTEPS; do this to make sure he doesnt regenerate his life
I hate to be a ball-breaker but you remember that bit when you first meet 'The End' and hes being surrounded by soldiers just outside the warehouse? If you snipe him there you dont actually fight him here, instead you get an alternative level
@HappyCanMan Not at all. In fact, I've done this before. I took out 'The End' with my sniper rifle at the wearhouse. 'The End' is replaced with Ocelot's GRU soldiers. They're very sneaky and difficult to spot. They even have sharp shooters on the peaks to pick you off if you blunder into their cross-hairs. In some ways, that scenario was tougher than dealing with 'The End'. Thanks for the heads up though.
@tonyrockygina Don't feel bad. I had a tough time with him until I learned his tricks. The key thing is not to rush through, and alway use the micro phone. when you enter a new area. Good luck.
@Macaca91 Be careful with the stealth gear. I think it's only 95% effective in boss encounters. If you get too close, and make too much noise in the process, he'll spot you and either shoot you or use a flash grenade. The stealth gear is indeed the best bet when ambushing him, but don't get careless.
I think its funny how Eva says the end has "a supernatrural knack for camouflage" which makes you think its gonna be impossible to find him, when theres actually quite a few ways to find him.

Unfortunately no. In Sokroveno South he'll either hide on north-east or north-west ridge at the beginning of the battle. From there he'll go to either North or West. From this point on, he could be hiding any place. You need to use your microphone to determine where he is so as not to blunder into his cross hairs. The louder he sounds on the microphone, the closer he is. The mic can't determine what height he's at, so you need to be careful when entering a new area. Good luck.
i read that if you save the game right before this battle, leave it off for a week, then turn it back on, he dies of old age and you dont even have to fight him. i also read that you can kill him earlier in the game and avoid this battle altogether.

man i felt like it took hours to beat this guy. i cheated the first time by the time swtiching. then on my second playthrough I wanted to fight him for real. i almost forgot i was fighting because i got bored and looked forever then he'll strike.

@Minan3 I know what you're saying. It was a real bitch for me to take him down the first couple of times I tried this battle. Finally, I developed a trick that worked. He moves pretty fast for an old geezer, so you got to move fast too. Otherwise he'll probably position himself to counterstrike you. Also the microphone is your best friend in this battle because it can often give away his position, and roughly how far away he is. The louder he sounds, the closer he is.
yeah youre other trick of the glint was what i mainly used. next playthrough im gonna try to sneak up behind him and hold him at gun point. its not easy but it will prove whether or not im really good at sneaking. i always get caught and go full auto with the patriot
@Minan3 I tried sneaking up on hime so I could get his Moss Camo. I tried waiting for 'The End' to fall asleep, then make my move. First, get close to his position, then wait him out. He usually falls asleep when it rains, so you may have to wait a bit. When he's asleep, crawl up to him carefully, then draw your weapon and hold him up. Try it out.
after time, he falls asleep. It took me one well places SVD head shot to end my 15 minute battle, took so long cuz i was tryin to sneak up and get the camo.
The end was my fav battle, i didnt have the spirit camo, so so much for the moss camo, so i just ran thru and killed him. If ur watchful, you can see his scope glinting in the sunlight.
Thanks. In fact, I use the glint on his scope as one of my tactics. However, this can be a double-edged sword, because this means your in firing range too. The trick is to get the bead on him before he marks you.
unless you use a pistol, my SVD was a shot from his side, all others were mk.22 hits. Your Binoculars also give you away due to glint. found that out the hard way.
The End is really amazing, isn't he. I love battle him and It's very easy even in European Extreme, in my opinion despite his excellent vision and weapon, the Mosin. Try stamina killing The End, that old little man doesn't deserve to be wounded!
'The End' certainly was a great opponent. He was difficult at first, until I learned how to get the edge on him. I have used stamina kill to get his Mosin rifle before. I especially liked how The End praised your skills when you defeated him. It showed he acknowledged you as a warrior, and harbored no animosity toward you. MGS 3 was a great game in my books. Thanks for your input.
Be careful , the end cna sneak up on you if u pass too much time in first person view , he'll say somthing like "this is the greatest battle ever" , u'd better hurry like a f%@k.

If you are on Nomal difficulty (or below) go to the map screen and input the Konami Code, and it will show The End's location.

I used the way when you get shot once you pop up the menu and use the angle of his shots shown on your body to roughly locate him.Took forever e.e

BTW, i recently played through with the stealth camo (me and my friend mike pulled an all nighter getting all the frogs) and it does work on the end.
You can sneak right up to him and he wont see you, you can even hold him up!!!
