It's me, again. Tonight (March 21), I attended a Lent service at a local Lutheran Church. We closed the service with this. The pastor selected this hymn because her sermon was from John 8: 1-11, where the Chief Priests and Pharisees brought an aldulterous woman before Jesus in an effort to trap him.
Being loved and accepted for the real person we are, without any pretence or falsity, is so liberating. We so rarely find this in life and must, therefore, find it from God our Father.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Tonight (Feb. 25, Ash Wednesday), I attended a worship service at another local Lutheran church. We sang this as the Hymn of the Day. It is #592 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Just thought I'd share.
I'm from the West Midlands (UK) we nearly always use this tune - although occasionally we use Misericordia. We're on the Charismatic-Evangelical side of C of E!
What's the name of this tune. I'm trying to find it. The resident DM won't play it, so I'll play it at a service he's not attending. While the cat's away eh?!
God bless you

I am Lutheran LCMS, and we sing this sometimes during Holy Communion-never fails to touch my heart.
