Petty comments. A singer sings, ok. A band is nice, professional and all but u don't know the circumstances. Maybe she was told to sing on the spot. Maybe she just felt to sing without her band. Maybe she just wanted to bless us with her voice. Besides, she sounded great and live was good for a change.
let me tell you what this woman needs to do...Come up with a live band with horns. KEEP THE SAME BAND and record classic r&b songs, like many white folk record classic White songs from sinatra and stuff.
Go on tour BLOWING DOWN THE DOORS with a killer live band. And REMAKE "if I could" to fix a horn line to it, and duet the song with John legend. AND NEVER SING TO A FREAKIN CD again. This aint Karaoke. The horn section could be college level kids. As long as they Jell and do the parts.
Today's youths wouldnt know a singer from a karaoke winner. This is due to hip hops horrible corruption of black music. They strip music to being nothing more than "beats".. in fact many pride themselves as "beat makers". Singers have been reduced to how well you can run up and down the scale. BUT ALL OF THIS MUSIC WILL BE LOST IN TIME because it has ZERO heart.. And most women sing anti male songs. REGINA aint that. She needs to be REGINA. Like Chaka Is Still Chaka. Gladys is still Gladys

So anyone that speaks bad of her is called a "hater" but if this were an unsigned artist, people would quickly boo her. Kinda like we see on that TV show the Apollo. People Boo just to be booing. But if that same person were Signed and On the radio, People would call it great. I have Performed Live.

I could easily name some big name artist that I dont particulaly care for, but they were signed.... I just think she didnt sound sooo bad, and the song was dedicated to the babies, that would make any mother go over and beyond the call of duty.
And since you have performed live, how about you post it and we'll see what is what then......

Things I personally like, regardless of if its "Muppet market" ready or not. "muppet market" is music made to please the Muppets of Black Listeners today. they pretty much listen to that which they are told, and approve those that sound like others they have already heard.

I just couldn't accept that this mess was Regina Belle. It doesn't sound like her and no one who could sing as she did would ever sing this poorly. I did some research. Regina Belle was at the Barbados Music Awards where she was being honored. A woman named Ria Borman sang "If I Could" to honor her. This is Ria Borman in this video. Do a Google image search. You'll see it is the same person as the one here.
She was very cery close to Phyllis Hyman and hunny what a talent Ms. Belle is because Phyllis was known for coming out with how she felt about the singers of her time not having any talent but she loved Regina as do I she really can turn that stage out I have seen her live 4 times in my life and everytime she was right on point what a great lady she is so humble!
I swear when I get the money up, I am gonna pay to have this woman perform for me. beautiful and the TRUE voice of the years... and I'm only 33. None better!
