14 shows on this US tour rigging the stages, in awe by night watching the master at work, working the crowds. BRILLIANT! This song just captures the whole U2 experience in a devilish way, lol. Rock on McPhisto, your a genius!
“When I was younger, so much younger than today… I never needed anybody’s help in any way. Now these days are gone, I’m not so self-assured. Now I find I changed my mind, open up the door. Help me if you can, I’m feeling down… and I do appreciate you being round… help me get my feet back off the ground… won’t you…”
When I found out they played Ultraviolet on the 360 tour I almost cried. I've wanted to hear it live for sooooooooo long and I was unable to make it when they came through my town. Thanks for this vid! Cheers!
Bono is a genious! His ability to pull off the whole MacPhisto thing and still be a cool rock star is amazing! No one else could do this and still be popular after 20 years!
Fuckin hell who was filming this in 1993?? The irony that the UN is impotent in the face of US policy was probably lost on most of the crowd. Fantastic song though (ultraviolet not help).
I think the MacPhisto character should be seen in the context of , for example, The Beatles (since he's singing a song by them) in their psychedlic / Sgt Pepper period.....differnt costumes for whatever reason they thought fit.....MacPhisto was an Anti-Pop / Rock star....it might loose translation approaching 20 years after the concert tour but it was fun and it fit that particular time. I was at the London shows and they were great value for money. But each to their own !!

U2's gotta cringe when they see this shit. Can't believe they were reduced to this, what, 4-5 years after Joshua Tree? Yowzers. This is the band that gave us "Pride" and "Sunday"? What the FUUUCK?
No way, ZOO tv was amazing, the Macvisto chracter was superb, we all cringe when we look back at photos, clothes etc, but this was nothing to be embarrased about, fantastic show and tour (esp Leed Aug 93, amazing Roundhay Park).

Yeah..ummm, actually the character was MacPhisto, y'know, with a "ph" and not a "v". Nice to see you're such a fan. Next time, read up on your facts before you try to fool others into appearing informed. Transparent tool.
Sorry can only apologise about a spelling error from the show near 20 years ago, so transparent, what fact did I get wrong sorry, wasnt fooling anyone where is the propagando in what I wrote???, take a look at some of the ZOO TV backstage on you tube, phenomenal show....sorry I will stop getting transparent and non fact based.
Man....I wonder. I think this was a lot of our young good times. I don't think "the feeling" like achtung and zooropa will ever come again. We're not in our teens or young 20's anymore :(
Merci. !!!!!

Secretary: Uh, sir, there's a message here for you.
Sir: From whom?
Secretary: Bono, Macphisto, The Devil. Whomever you wish, sir.

I taped this concert off the radio in 1993, and played it to death. Brought a tear to the eye 'cos I still remembered McPhistos speech word for word!

U2 would be much more enjoyable if Bono would shut the fuck up and just play the songs. I am so sick of his stupid comments.

I liked U2's early stuff ... I also appreciate that they've been able to experiment with other sounds. Variety's good.

At the concert in Dublin in 1987 one couldn't have stood still, let alone film this from the audience. Things surely have changed.

I've seen other lead singers go through strange, dramatic stage personas, but Bono overtops them all.
Bono really is a "nice bunch of guys."

PLEASE U2 PLAY IT LIVE AGAIN!
BE MORE VARIOUS LIKE PEARL JAM!
If the fans made a poll for an ideal song list for a gig it should be one of the first, I bet.
