abiding memory of Ari was at the alypaly park 1980 at wood green. was an anarchist anti tory thing. anyway things had been getting a bit violent but enter the Slits. Ari with her loks tied up with a brown scarf and the ends painted green! she just said " they're tearing down all the trees in this world too, and that is why I have to grow a tree on my head " then Slits played 'earthbeat' end of the nonsense and the rest was wonderful. Ari, you are so missed.

This video clearly demonstrates Ari Up's genius as a superbly original performer. I just love her original dance moves and now want to try and learn them.
