The funny thing is Wally Backman probably knows baseball better than most of the umpires in this league because he actually PLAYED in the MLB. I mean we need umps to play, but a lot of these umps are horse shit.
"I never said anything till AFTER I got thrown out". Let me check the video, before you got tossed you said "fuck" 8 times said "shit" 2 times including telling the umpire he's had a "Horse Shit Zone All Day". I am not saying your guy getting tossed was not stupid but they way you acting made you look real stupid your not Lou Piniella its not COOL to kick dirt on the plate come on act like an adult. Did you think maybe if you went out there CALM you might have got a better response from the ump.
umpires are problem in all of baseball, no video review, blown calls, horrible for the sport, send them all to Jenny Craig and replace them with Technology.
I like when he claims that he never said anything to the guy (until he got thrown out), even though there is video proving otherwise. Having said that, the ump could've handled it better...instead of just saying "read my report" he could've quickly explained it..
@playingforpeanuts I hear you...IMO there is a difference between not saying anything and not saying much. I don't follow baseball, so obviously I don't know how much you can say before you get kicked out (my guess is that like in other sport a lot of that depends on the ref). Either way.. Backman seems like quite a character and I really enjoyed this video along with some of the other ones you posted...
@pussypjs01.......you're fucking idiot. There, eject me. fucking wanker douchbag. Go on strike...it can't be that hard to fill your position....unless it's a blind person. Cry me a fucking river. If you can't take the heat for sucking all the time then get out. Hahahha
@pltfather It costs a fair bit to train an umpire, and there are only so many people who are willing to take the abuse. Also note that you are judging my officiating based on your biased concept that I'll be making calls against your team, which I will, and almost all the time they'll be right. When the players start getting everything right, so will the officials.

I have precisely no respect for this man. First, why does he expect pro umpires in minor league ball? Next, why can't this guy just realize he was over the line? He swore at the umpire and attempted to manhandle him before he was ejected, you can see it in the other video. That's entirely unacceptable, and I applaud the official for throwing him out.
@x3knet I know that no official should be treated like this, as an official myself. Did you know that the soccer referees in Scotland (I'm pretty sure) actually went on strike because the managers were verbally abusing them too much? If we're not careful, this will happen in baseball too.
@x3knet Also, from the Official Rules of Baseball, rule 9.01(d): "Each umpire has authority to disqualify any player, coach, manager or substitute for objecting to decisions or for unsportsmanlike conduct or language, and to eject such disqualified person from the playing field."
@playingforpeanuts *hides* Whoops. Nonetheless, it's a lower caliber of everything than the Major Leagues. And maybe the umpire didn't handle it correctly. That doesn't make it ok to attack him. He believed the coach crossed the line, so he threw him out. Simple. There should be no discussion from anybody about it. Maybe from the umpires' association, but certainly not from the coach. He should be off the field already.
@catspjs01 - Nobody was "attacked." It was an argument between a baseball manager and an umpire. It's part of the game, part of life, part of America.

@playingforpeanuts Verbal attacks are attacks too. Why is it part of the game? Why do kids get shown that it's ok for the professionals to yell at officials? They will start doing it too. There's enough dissent to handle already.
@catspjs01 Give me a break. It's part of the game because it is. That's it. You can't change the game, so go watch another sport.
Kids should respect umpires and authority figures. But they should understand that this is part of PROFESSIONAL baseball - just like brush back pitches, hard slides into second and taking out the catcher. There are certain things that are part of the pro game that are just not part of amateur/youth baseball.
@catspjs01 its people like you that ruin the game of baseball. you have no idea what your talking about. why don't you and your prissy little self go watch mens diving or something a little more girly instead of taking the fun out Americas game
Independent leagues don't always get umpires that have been to pro school and PBUC., unlike those affiliated with MLB clubs. Sometimes they use umpires from the local association that covers collegiate and adult amateur (semi-pro) leagues. That being said, I didn't see anything that warranted an ejection, until AFTER the ejection.
@taylorgangorkillhim2 My favorite coaches that I've played under are those who demonstrate extreme passion for the game while remaining polite towards officials and opponents. Those are the ones who are truly passionate about their game.
@catspjs01 grow up pussy, sorry cuss words hurt your feelings, you are clearly either a woman or a little bitch excuse of a man. the ump was obviously a power hungry little fucker and you must have never played baseball/sucked dick when you did
@catspjs01 Lol your fucking dumb. ever heard of Call ups too the MLB.. where you think those are coming from... A-AAA lol idiot. they all are pros, hence the pro umpires. You fail sir
What's this tarp thing that Wally is referring to? It seems to have pissed him off.

@francobobfred - There's video of that incident on YouTube. Do a search for "epic rain storm at minor league baseball game."

I'd love to piss off this guy. If I was an umpire, I would find subtle ways to get under his skin, then let it build up.

@sjtbone83 - He didn't say anything that is typically considered worthy of an ejection. So, in baseball terms, he's 100% correct.
