I may not know why I am deaf in this life. I trust that it is for my highest good. The past does not matter. What matters is what we do today, where we are going forward, that we grow and do our best spiritually. I see the benefits it gives me. It allowed me to enjoy the silence and go within and find God there. I can meditate anywhere when it is very noisy and chaotic. I can sleep good. I do not have to hear unnecessary worldly banter and gossip.

I am deaf and have been practicing Hinduism for 5 years. Ammachi is my guru. All my life as a deaf person, I never felt like I lacked something. I always still felt whole. It is the hearing people that view deafness as something that is "impaired" or "disabled". Really it is the hearing people that have an impaired or disabled view of others. I see so many hearing people that are miserable. I can't hear and yet I am just as happy as I can be. Spirituality has given me that.

@sergsfault Silence is golden. It is peace. It is our minds that make us feel alone, not the darkness itself. The mind is like a lake. When it has thoughts, it creates waves on the surface of the lake distorting the image that reflects from above (the sky, moon, stars, sun, clouds, etc.). When we quiet the mind into stillness, we then are able to see our own True Self reflecting back at us at the surface of the lake when it is calm and still. You have to train and control your mind first.

From my understanding about enlightenment, is that we are all one and equal. No exceptions. Equal to all life-forms, to animal bugs everything. But what your saying is bad karma equal punishment by being reincarnated as an animal bug or "lower" life form. We are all made of the same one source energy one it not better or above the other.

Let's say someone was born perfect physically, very fortunate... I can say a perfect life. So, according to karma law, this person done good things in the past life.. in a very long chain of incanations.

Now, because of having a perfect life, this person is arrogant, spoiled, selfish, and so on....

What is good about good karma then?

How about spiritual growth?

Why do we always look at disables to seek out what was wrong?

In my last life I was an authoritative take charge person. I wanted things done quickly and thought people who were weak or shy were a hindrance and not worth that much.

This life I am born painfully shy. The reason we do bad things is because we do not know any better. My life is very hard but it was necessary for me to be able to see life through the eyes of the very person I didn' understand.

Karma is not punishment. Heaven does not force anything on you. I did this on my own free will.

My experiences are unique I would say, as I have not read other people that are 100% like my own.

It started one night when I put a cross around my neck for the first time and lied down to rest. Instantly my body became paralyzed and quickly engulfed in this warm, all-encompassing tingling sensation. It may have lasted for 15-20 seconds and was easily the most comforting, calming feeling that I have ever known.

Before your authoritative last life, you must be had done good things. And this had brought you to your last authoritative take charge person.

My conclusion is: the good karma that had brought you to your authoritative last life had no influence to your spiritual growth, because you did things that brought you to this life.

For me, it is more like journey and never be a stepping up spiritual growth. It just like a cycle: bad karma - good karma - bad karma.......

Deafness can be caused multiple ways, one of which is genetics, which is the cause of mine.

You missed the point. Bodies are various in health. If you were destined to not have your hearing your soul would reincarnate into a body that has weaker genetics for hearing in order for you to not get hearing sense. And yes it is from your past sin. You must have caused someone to be deaf, stabbed an animal in the ear or taken the mick out of deaf people in your past lives. Its all karma. Just like humans who eat slaughtered animals 4 food become those animals and get eaten next life. Karma.

What? I have been saying again and again PAST SIN DOES CAUSE DEAFNESS - past sin causes ALL suffering. How many animals have faced DEATH not just DEAF cuz of your selfish desire to eat them? Thats a fucked up sin right there and you have no doubt eaten 1000s of animals. Expect a hell lot worse than Deafness in your future lives if you carry on sinning, eating flesh is a huge one.

Most human beings eats meat though. Even the Hindus, the supposive vegetarians eat chicken and hot dogs (the ones in America anyways). Wouldn't the person who killed the animal rather than the one who ate it will be punished by karma?

Right! So the animal you killed and slaughtered probably deserved it. That's why it came back as an animal and was slaughtered in the first place. So why is it bad? You just played out what karma prescribed, but you get punished for it. That sucks.

It's bad for YOU nobody else. You will suffer from eating meat in future lives. Those animals are reincarnating into slaughterhouse bodies due to the desires of humans, they would suffer their karma in the animal kingdom if not. If humans dont have mercy on animals and stop eating them, they will always be killed by karma, the souls will just switch place. Only way to stop it is by having mercy. Vegetarians are very lucky, they dnt understand just how much better lives they are making themselves

we travel by the law of karma, we have to experience every situation we put any other soul through.

if we kill and eat animal, we have to be killed and eaten next lives. just cuz animals like mentally handicapped are less able, but should not be mistreated

@yogeeshashram Oh no need to have an ASL interpreter. We can read English just fine. All you need to do is add subtitles to the video. It's not hard to do. YouTube has this feature available to allow you to add subtitles. Your video is only 10 minutes long. Think of the great benefit if you could if you do so.

Also, a person can go deaf because in a previous life they made fun of deaf people. He says that if a person goes deaf when born or later in life, then it is his own karma.
