  • LOVE IT!

  • How did i get here?

  • My dad celebrates his birthday on the same day as David Bowie. I sent him the link and he got a real kick out of this. He is a Bowie fan.

  • the song is silly, but i love hearing Bowies laugh. :3

  • I didn't know the Chipmunks did a song with Bowie

  • Drugs.

    that is all.

  • None of this is more embarrassing than Labyrinth

  • @hemoglobin Labyrinth is embarrassing? Your joking right? Its a cult classic, its a fantasy movie with great music throughout and great adventure.

  • Love him!

  • My mum directed me to this...what the hell?! Epic though, gotta love Bowie

  • This just came up on my ipod, I'd never heard it before.

Experimentation can only go so far Bowie.

  • He actually refused to sing this song again, its was requested many times :-) but sadly Bowie is very embarassed and is past this silly little jingle

  • I wuz walkin...down the highstreet...when i saw kofi annan

  • The point at which he thought he was Tony Newley. A passing fancy thankfully.

  • This song. I'm sobbing with laughter. "Didn't they tell you to get your hair cut at school you look like a rolling gnome" Ahh.. dying.

  • Always makes me smile! Ha ha hee...

  • funny song

  • Bowie's always been a pioneer.

Look at all the hip hop twats that only recently stopped with the chipmunk crap.

  • 1:30 oh rly?

  • never fails to make me laugh

  • ill never listen to david bowie the same way again

  • lol this is the funniest song ive ever heard

  • Helium is a hell of a drug

  • Bowie referencing the Singing Postman. Hev Yew Gotta Loight Boy?

  • I love the last chorus, he's like "Oh kill me"

  • @aplethoraodirigibles I think he's saying "Oh, Dear me"

  • I love David Bowie to death, but what the hell?

  • LSD

  • i remember this from when i was 7. oblivious of what it was about, at the time. but funny as...

  • WTF!?. :D

  • this is creepy...

  • Bowies awsome

  • o.k that is just creepy!

  • What a gem! This is Bowie's first picture sleeve i believe but was not a hit for the young musician. When "Ziggy" was a smash it was released in the UK which embarassed david, but it finally flew up the charts. Bowie's voice manipulated for the garden gnome.

  • like to see oiragnail video

  • I love the end when he just cracks up!

  • great music

  • Hoho, David Bowie and Syd Barrett apparently had much in common :-) :-)

  • They shoulda put this on the soundtrack of Gnomeo and Juliet. It's an abomination that it's apparently not.

  • Love Love Love this song....Brings back heaps of happy memories...My dad used to play the record for me over and over when I was little!!

  • I remember this well. It was the "B" side of a well known hit. I think it was Life on Mars.

  • Wait a sec.... Those bloody hamsters are actually gnomes? Everything makes perfect sense now...

  • @DanAndHoe The Gnome beats those chipmunks. For one he keeps better company and this song beats there's.

  • :-) i love it!!!

  • Dad, you're so embarrassing!

(Private joke, this is NOT an outragious claim that David Bowie is my dad) =p

  • this is not good

  • This song makes me wanna tank up on helium and hit a karaoke bar with a midget who has an especially deep voice.

  • I was 2 the year this was released and I loved it - now 40 odd years later my 5 year old sone loves this song too and laughs like hell every time I play it .

a timeless classic of English psychadelia .

  • I was 2 the year this was released and I loved it - now 40 odd years later my 5 year old sone loves this song too and laughs like hell every time I play it .

    a timeless classic

  • I mean he gave him roasted toadstools and a glass of dandelion wine and then he burped.... Im thinking organic

  • bollocks to this song, can't stand it.

  • Very Syd Barret and Bowie has often cited Syd as an influence. Basically, Bowie is what Barret might've become had he stayed 'stable' (if you believe he wasn't in the first place of course).

  • @thatsthewayitgoes09 it´s a pity that they didn´t do something together.

  • the gnome sounds like someone from worms

  • @fuzzyskull17 KAMIKAZEEEEEEEE!!!

  • my bro is ubsest with saying "thats Fred hes a metro gnome"!!!

  • Oh how I would've loved to have been a fly in the recording studio when he did this, LOL.

  • 1:07 - 1:08 Sounds like Please Mr. Gravedigger, I know they were done at the same time but still...

  • david bowie himself hated this song

  • @cfcstevie1888 That's not unreasonable, I wouldn't own up to it either, but it's still a funny song, I like it.

  • excellent stuff

  • Aaaactually... This piece of genius is from 1961 (Bowie's first attempt at a single). It didn't chart... for obvious reasons. It wasn't until 1969 when Bowie released Space Oddity when he gained recognition and began to chart.

  • this is pretty terrible

  • @drbrandovalentine your pretty terrible!!!!!!!

  • This is a piece of genius.

  • This reminds me of Leonard Nimoy's Ballad of Bilbo Baggins. Some things from the 60's should remain there...

  • @suprtzar13

I dunno I like that weird stuff, it's better than alot of today's stuff.

  • lol! ahahahaha:

SHROOMS + DAVID BOWIE = THIS

  • LMAO!!XD

    love this song!!!

  • This song sounds cute. The lauging ghome sounds like a chipmunk! :-)

  • The videos over. Was kind of glad when it finished.

  • DAVID BOWIE: Well I gave him roasted toadstools and a glass of dandelion wine GNOME: (burp) Pardon.

DAVID BOWIE: Here, what's that clicking noise?

GNOME: That's Fred, he's a "metrognome!" Ha ha!

DAVID BOWIE: Haven't you got a 'ome to go to?

    GNOME: No, we're "gnomads"

DAVID BOWIE: Didn't they teach you to cut your hair in school? You look like a Rolling Gnome.

    Funny song.

  • This song actually give me a nightmare a couple of years ago!!! XD

  • before i heard this song i thought that i knew about bowie everything xD

  • Drugs have so much to answer for.

  • I love it.

  • Althouh written in the late 60s, Bowie had a hit with this in 1973. I loved it. Bowie says he's said he's now embarrassed with it - especially the Gnome pun - "You look like a Rolling Gnome" etc lol

  • Not as good as 'Bad Dog, Bad Hog', but nevertherless worthy of it's own space in the great musical canon of time. KnG.

  • A metronome! : )

  • Notice the backing track - Sandy Shaw style?

  • This song is much maligned ;D. I don't get it - it's typical of late 60s hippy dippy nonsense. Enjoyable! Now smoke that same self reefer & listen!

  • Love it when he starts laughing at the end LOL :D

I would say this was a mid-life crisis...

But it wasn't, was just Bowie being, well....

    Brilliant!!!! :D

  • Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  • lmao your funny!!!!cocaine is a hell of a drug..

  • @WhimsicalQuandary you obviously dont know what cocaine does...

  • @edisacuntface

This was in his pre coke stage.

When he was heavily into coke he mostly just starved himself and talked about Hitler a lot.

  • @WhimsicalQuandary Not Cocaine...think LSD... Lysergic acid has alot to add to pop :)

  • @WhimsicalQuandary Hahahahaha!!!! Riiiiiiiiiiight.

  • @auburnbeauty33 That Gnome sounds like someone I'd like to hang out with LOL

  • @WhimsicalQuandary He just makes music happen.

  • @WhimsicalQuandary "i'm david bowie bitch"...

  • I always wonder who made the Gnome voices lol.

  • Ha ha ha, he he he. Hilarious song by Bowie! =)
