the five dollar fee is small potatos, check out the illuminati here on you tube, and see where it takes you,...check out the 20 lies here on youtube, then check out FEMA ....connect the dots...it's all by design....bigger then you imagine.....illuminati is on our $1 bill....research it
Easy way to avoid overdrafts if you're using a debit card only is not to opt in to overdraft coverage which the banks by law now have to have your permission. OPT OUT and if you don't have enough money in your account when you swipe your card you will be denied the purchase but you won't get any overdraft or any other fees to pay. With paper checks this won't work since you can't opt out of overdraft coverage with paper checks.
I so agree with you! Scam of America! They misinformed me so many times and promised me many things regarding transferring money from my account in the States to my own account in the Netherlands. There was no other way than paying $35 per $1000 transfer. It was impossible to use safepass from abroad. Than it would only cost $35 per $10000. At the end it cost me almost $700 to transfer my money instead of $70. SCAM OF AMERICA!!!
Well I wrote 4 post-dated checks to my apt manager,n she posted it.BOA charged me 140 $ extra for checks. After arguing with them for 1 hour, they took off one overdraft fee i.e 35$ and like dumb stopped payment for my 2 of the checks. Now my apt manager is asking me for 50 $ extra for 2 checks which BOA did not process and also charged overdraft to me,so now Im in loss of 150 $
Another horrible bank is Chase bank. I just woke up this morning to a $-260.54 balance on my account... I only went over $35.00, but overdraft fees and pending transactions (that I made when I had money) didn't process till I was over my limit, I received over 5 overdraft fees of $34.00 which is total BS.
Matthew6:24No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money
Leviticus25:37 You must not lend them money at interest or sell them food at a profit.
Ezekiel22:12 In you are people who accept bribes to shed blood; you take interest and make a profit from the poor. You extort unjust gain from your neighbors. And you have forgotten me, declares the Sovereign LORD.
She's so hot, but yeah when you find out about those pending transactions it sucks, but then when you try to use them to your beneficial factor they will process them some times on the the first day. So don't try to use it to help your self out, because if they know you don't have a lot of money in your account they will process it on the same day they recieve it, but if they do know you have money in your account those same transactions will take at least 5 days.
and the millions of people losing their homes across this country, people have commited suicide because of the bank not caring, big business has exported their jobs, who's destroying what, there's a difference...talking goes no where
This is exactly what this bank has done to me over and over. SICK of it and changed to USAA. However, now that I have been fecked one times too many by Bank of FEES, it is my new mission to recoup for US; the AMERICAN people who keep them in business daily.
@patuncfan1 I should switch over to USAA, I have Chase bank currently, they've been really pissing me off lately with their rules. I don't recall when I first joined Chase the overdraft fees being this bad. In the past it was just ONE overdraft charge, now they do it everytime you swipe your card, even if you only spent 60 cents for something they will charge $35.
Yeah, you have to be smarter than the bank. The first time this happened to me with TD bank I learned the hard way. But you only have to learn once and then never do it again!! If you don't have the funds in there to complete all of your transactions, then don't make more transactions. The banks totally win this way and they have no mercy for your personal story. It is totally a money making scheme and they don't care. Switch banks or don't overdraft!
haven't you see all those videos of the overdraft items, is ridiculous and I'm going to tell you this I was with chase fort several years until the charge me 370 of over drafts fees for 10 cents and it was not even 10 it was 8 cents.... 8 CENTS!! and the charge was not even mine someone did this unauthorized charge and surprised when I check my balance I had over -400 that really piss me off, but now I learn you can bring them to small claims court and they will refund your money, try that.
wells fargo did the same to me,twice.i refused to pay, explaining how can i have the money in the account when i ,make the purchase and now suddenly 3 weeks later im overdrafted? and disputed the overdraft fees and they sent it to collections and put an "alert" out to something called chex systems..now,i cant get a bank account at ANY bank..what a scam
One thing Ive always hated about Bank of America is they had some branches down in Southern Cali that were handing out free checking accounts to illegals!! How does an Illegal citizen obtain a checking account without a Social Security Card? Or atleast a legit Card!!! The rest of us here have to obey the laws but they dont? Also, the fees do suck! But, its your own responsibilty to maintain your credit and accounts. Not annyone elses! BE MORE RESPONSIBLE AND MANAGE YOUR MONEY! CANT JUST BAIL!
I left the banks 6 years ago. I cash my check at a grocery store. I use a pre paid debit. Learn to live with in your means and make the change you want to see.
Your critical commentaries about Bank of America are pretty good. I saw another of your videos on this subject also. I don't have any personal experience with BoA, as I have always kept my indebtedness to banks in general to a minimum, have only once in my life (I'm 51 years old) had a significant loan, which has been paid off. I am not in debt now.
I recommend you practice your presentation a little. You've got talent, but you need to rehearse more to bring it out fully.
I forgot to mention. I use a VISA debit card for online purchases from Amazon and eBay. For transactions that I make locally, I pay cash. Or, rather, Federal Reserve banknotes. I don't write checks. I don't use credit or debit cards when I buy groceries, dry goods, or tools from the hardware store. Minimizing your risk means, in part, minimizing your exposure to predatory institutions, such as Bank of America.
Bank of America has secretly stolent BILIONS of dollars from Americans... and now since the bank knows that it's in trouble in an egregious last ditch effort ... these motherfucking ENRON-style pirates/thieves are going to try to charge $5 debit card transaction fees beginning in 2012 in order to try to rob everyone one more time to pay off all the lawsuits and damages that Bank of America has incurred from its own crimes against the American People. How's that for a slap in the face?
i agree with u... many companies do this.. as well as add extra fees to make cost incredibly high.. it was never like this... the whole world is going to hell....this isn't new... companies do this all the time and get away with it most of the time... but in the long run they won't make it because one wrong move could get them sued and lose millions. If enough word gets out they will eventually shut down.
Bank of America doesn't care about customers ALL they worry about is making money and screw all the customers, Do What We Ask You To Do & We Will Deny You No Matter What ALL We Want Is Your Money & Make Your Life Living Hell, They Are Pretty Much A Profit Making Corporation saying they are a bank, YOU KNOW ITS AMAZING WHAT THEY CAN DO IF THEY REALLY WANT TO ! ! SOUNDS LIKE THEY JUST WANT TO SEE IF YOU WILL FIGHT AND ARGUE ABOUT SITUATION ! ! ! I HAVE HEARD THEIR NEW NAME IS BEND OVER AMERICA
@scabbybuttcrack wow, you really are moron. She is warning consumers about the scams that this bank is trying to pull, and you weren't really paying attention... she did go to another back...whose the dumb ass now? :p
@adegrave1985 I really am moron? Do you know the English language? Apparently not. Why don't you go to night school and take ESL you fucking foreigner? SPEAK ENGLISH!
As for not paying attention, what part of "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL PUTTING YOUR MONEY IN BANK OF FUCKING AMERICA???" do you not understand? And since you are an ignorant peasant from some third world hovel where you used to sleep with your livestock, that means DON'T BANK WITH BofA IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET SCAMMED.
BofA (Bank of American Criminals) took $3080 from my acct since Jan 2010. I am suing them in small claims now-- I encourage EVERYONE to file a small claims against them, base it on their HTL (High to Low ) posting of items, they criminally post highest item 1st and overdraft all the smaller items, thus MAXIMIZING their NSF FEES. Not to mention I opted out of overdraft in Dec 2009!! SUE THE BASTARDS!!!!!
BofA (Bank of American Criminals) is a criminal organization-- I opted out of overdraft in December 2009, since then they have STOLEN $3080 from my hard earned $ for BOGUS NSF FEES-- they illegally use HTL (high to low) posting to MAXIMIZE their overdraft fees, I URGE EVERYONE TO SUE BofA in small claims court-- make those BASTARDS PAY
All right listen...Yeah the penalties fucking suck, either go to another bank or realize that you need to keep better track of your bank account since Bank of America is scheming fucking bastards. We all appreciate your opinion because it gives the chance of dialogue, but business isn't meant to play nice, and it's getting worse. Get rid of your credit cards, pay em off, don't owe anything if you can help it. and if you wanna get a group together to picket outside, I'll organize a rally, irok
Nations do not need a swarm of bloodsuckers - each Nation needs 1 bank working for the people and all these problems will be a thing of the past. Banks do not give a fuck about you.
Why the fuck do they call it overdraft PROTECTION if they ALLOW you to overdraft and then hit you with tons of fees? How the fuck is that protection if they ALLOW you to spend more than you have and then make a profit off of your mistake? PROTECTION would be if they prevented the transaction from going through so you didn't spend more than you have. They ought to call that shit "overdraft penalities" or "overdraft ass-raping."
I love these pompous pieces of shit who say: "It's your own fault for not reading the fine print dumbass!" To all of you condescending geniuses out there: You're right, I didn't read the fine print. I just assumed, like a logical fucking human being, that if I didn't have sufficient funds in my account to pay for something with my debit card the register would reject the transaction. Why didn't paper checks just overdraft your account back in the day? Why did they bounce instead?
BOA is the absolute WORST Bank I have ever had to deal with. My father has several accounts there, and lately they have been clipping him for unreasonable Fees.
He's finally looking for another bank, which I urged him to do years ago.
And in some of their branches, Customer Service is completely unknown. There are a few tellers who are actually competent, but most of them are rude and incompetent.
@WarKingRoy I just sued Bank of American Criminals in small claims-- I urge EVERYONE to file a small claims based on the HTL posting (High to Low) make sure you have printed evidence that their HTL caused you to over draw, ie they put a check for $300 ahead of 5 smaller items, causing 4 NSF fees, DON'T GET MAD GET EVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to have this problem with a couple big banks, (Chase was one of them). There were times where my entire paycheck would be taken to cover a bunch of fees. I closed my account, gave them the finger, and went with a smaller local bank. I have had NO problems with the local bank, and I can tell that they use common sense when it comes to deposits and purchases.
Being from the hotel industry. We are told again and again that if a person has a complaint. That person will tell about 9 others that will in turn find a new place to stay. All this type of profit making only causes customers to find other banks to do their business with.
WHY DO PPL STILL DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK. THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY PREDATORS, AND PPL STILL HAVE ACCTS WITH THEM? STILL APPLY FOR MORTGAGES AND LOANS WITH THEM? WHAT THE HECK? BANK OF AMERICA CAN ONLY GET AWAY WITH THIS GARBAGE IN AMERICA. "SHAKING MY HEAD IN DISGUST."
@TheLackofattack your an idiot, the 410 million dollar law suit was won, bank of america lost, because of this "budget" bank of america doesnt know how to try it
@TheLackofattack Umm, if I recall, never in history did banks automatically opt people the fuck into overdraft protection before there were debit cards. If you wrote a check that you couldn't cover back then, IT BOUNCED. Therefore, if you make a purchase with a debit card that you can't cover, THE TRANSACTION SHOULD BE CANCELLED. Overdraft "protection" is a fucking scam and Bank of America is an unethical company, period. You should be ashamed of yourself for doing business with them.
Many banks do that. Some banks will allow posting or pending, then if you deposit, they will not incur an overdraft if the transactions are still pending. Other banks, if it is pending and the money was not there, even if you deposit is that day, it is overdraft. Some credit Unions will allow you to overdraft for a small fee, but it is hard to get that at a good rate. Your budget is too tight, honey. You should have at least $500 at the end of the month as a rule.
They did this to me too, and they had it attached to my money market account and kept taking money directly out of my mm account and I lost thousands of dollars over a year or two.I can't tell you how many times this happened before I got smart and pulled all of my money out. A few years later, my husband bought a truck and guess who the dealership financed it through, yup I'm stuck dealing with their shystie asses yet again~!
I remember when I first discovered that banks allow purchases w/no funds. It was one of those "process large items first" then a string of smaller items. Total fees was 300+ for bout $25 worth of small purchases: gum burger coffee paper soda etc. I ended up telling off one of the bankers and left the bank for a local one that has since been bought out by the one I left. The most insidious part about this is that it is crafted specifically to exploit those who are least able to afford it.
GOOD FOR YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE FOR SUPPORTING YOU ! WE NEED TO EXPOSE THESE RICH BASTARDS ! WHILE THERE AT THEIR TROPICA ISLAND SIPPING ON A MARTINI THE FAMILY THEY HAD THROWN OUT ARE ON THE STREET HUNGRY !! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE !!!!
media library will reach out to people who say they care, care about our country and their state even their sovereignty we will come together as caring United States citizens and help ourselves instead of pending on public servants who thinks they are God to help us. This is the gold of media library this is my life so the question is what do you do? 313-651-5349
I believe you. It has happened to about fifteen of my friends and associates. It wasn't just BofA scheming on its customers. Most of the big banks engaged in this unethical practice.
and then after charging us fees, they go to our government and steal a bail-out who then they use to invest and pay themselves giant bonuses, and trow millionaire parties, then they retire and leave a fresh out of local management guy to take the blame and go to jail, then they decide they didn't retire with enough money and return to run the company.
How people allow this? watch my vid Monkey banks on America.
It it is a debit card, the logical thing would be that, if you don't have the money on the account you can not pay. A credit card is different. It is a AOB is a scam, change to a local savings bank.
You ever notice the posting order? This bank post's credits first followed by debits from (high - to - low). Doesn't matter what time of day you do a transaction. For instance, I can go to walmart first and spend $2.00 and go to the mall next and spend $50.00. You would think your $2.00 transaction would post FIRST, however, say these two items post the same day, your $50.00 transaction will ALWAYS post first then the $2.00 transaction is applied. So my point is, the posting can cause fees to.
Im tempted to never use a credit card again. The only thing is that there are too many things like rental cars and hotels that wont except cash. Thats why I cancelled my card and moved to a local credit union. I will try to avoid all major banks in the future.
Why did they bounce instead?
pending transactions, electronic and paper checks, debit cards, logs, idiots with ties, goons with guns on entrances, marble palaces built with our sweat, self hating condescending pricks smiling in your face over every your loss... and all that about Monopoly money... what's not to like about banks?
Ac tually, an electronic (pending) transaction is exactly the same as a pending check. The best thing to do when you use your debit card, is to keep a log, a tally if you will....and keep track of incomings and outgoings. Just saying...
They sent me to a collection co in India (numerous calls at all hours, even after the payment) and to Equifax - goodbye good credit! ...and that is only the beginning of the fallout..
I've never been late on my mortgage with my Select Portfolio. But the collection agencies in 3rd world countries are is cheap and producing Billions, and they know "how" to do it.
So, you go lady! Maybe it took 2 to tangle, but It takes one thread at a time to untangle this rope of corruption and greed.
I'm so sick of their "cattle handling" phone system! By the time you get to a live person, you're enraged, and the reps are on their last breath of patience after dealing with so many angry people in this soulless, money processing conveyor of pure greed. I can only take my hat off to those who maintain their cool and endure that kind of working environment every single day. Why are we allowing it?
That's right! Give it to them! I quit them 1 yr ago, they then bought my mortgage lander and got to "service" my loan, which was on auto-pay, which they stopped and charged me $112.88 Late Fee + $20 for some uncollected cost fees, for 4 months straight. They can't explain why they can't set up auto-payment, but they explained that without my authorization they couldn't process my payment (but of course), forcing me to do it right away over the phone, for which they also charge pretty penny.
BOA has been crooked for years. I have had them blacklisted on any of my dealings since the 1980's. They won't even cash checks drawn on their own bank and branch unless the payee is a customer as well as the payor. Their business model is nothing but a reverse kiting scheme which takes advantage of artificial float times. Sorry you got caught up in their scam but hopefully this will be a good warning to others to avoid this bank (and Chase as well) like the plague. ING is a good bank if needed.
I got charged $35.00 three times in a 2 day period over things under 10 dollars even though I had deposited in more money prior to the transactions. But they kinda neglected to expedite the deposit &decided to do the latter which was to charge the overdraft fees.Yeah they suck & are greedy scums
I'm not American but since I'm a sort of bankworm (I like bank services in general), I'll say something: I just don't understand how banks can do such things up there in the US and still be OK. I'm Brazilian and now banking with Bank of Brazil. That's definitely not the way things work here, if they charge you R$ 1 you don't owe you can easily sue them. You just won't pay for using a check, overdrafting will only cost you interest and banks CAN'T change interest rates without some justification.
People should know that Chase does the same thing. You could overdraft by 1 cent and it will cost you $34. Way to go team!! These assholes should be the subject of a Congressional hearing!!!
YES THEIR OVERDRAFT FEES IS RIDICULOUS I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT NOTICED THAT THEY FUCKED ME OVER A COUPLE TIMES I CONSIDERING CHANGIEING MY BANK
I watched your video and I really understand your frustration. If you want to make Bank of America pay for what they did to you, and thousands of others, you should watch this guy's video;
DEADLY BLOW ! TO Bank of America
You should contact this guy, he is really serious.
I have a crush on you. I have watched this video enumerable times to remind me of what an amazing women such as your self is like. Much love and respect keep doing your thing. It is going to be 2011 soon lets rally.
I'm an industry professional and my unbiased opinion; Bank of America is a purely evil corporation. They intentionally cheat their own customers then they take that ill-gotten gain to bribe our elected officials.
Simple solution; PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS.
CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNTS AND CONVINCE OTHER PEOPLE TO DO THE SAME.
Don't wait for govt. to act, because it won't. Punish BofA and let other greedy corporations know they can't get away with this.
You go Vagisil4eva, that's how alot of us feel, like we just want to strangle these people, who come up with these stupid things, just to make money. B of A, has always been famous for high rediculous fees and for stupid things, but I love your anger, because we are all sick of this crap! For all you B of A employees who talk high and mighty, ex-employees are coming forward about how it really is, working at B of A, so don't waste your breath. Keep going Vagisil4eva!
I wanna know why my direct deposit money hasn't shown up in my account at midnight tonight. I'm with Bank of America and was wondering if anybody knew why it hasn't shown up yet or when it will show up. Thanks in advance!
cash only. if i can't get it with cash then i can't get it at all. I am not a slave to my stuff. Oh What about a house? I won't be able to get a house because the banks have force the prices up and the only way to get one is to go to them. I am not slave, i'm sick of tons money being made off millions people how really need it. If they banks give all there money (no wait half the money) the economy would be so much better. (and with half they still have billions).
Good for you speaking out!!! I feel for you. Someone would have to be a lawyer to figure out all the fine print. I JUST BURNED MY CREDIT CARD TODAY!!! Check it out on my page!!!
Bank of America is CRIMINAL. Besides all the things they do to credit cards, they are the MAIN PERPETRATOR of Foreclosure Fraud, throwing people out of their homes by forging the documents. DEMAND that your bank produce YOUR ORIGINAL mortgage note with your "wet ink" signature (a copy is insufficient, just like a copy of a dollar bill is not a dollar). If the bank cannot produce YOUR original signed note, they can be sued for the mortgage amount +3 times the amt. They've been caught FORGING.
The thing about B of A that makes them so greedy is that my -$400 balance was actually a -$1200 balance when calculating late fees. I'm sorry, if you borrow $400 from a friend one day and go to pay him back a week (or even a day) later with a check for $400 and he says "ooh, sorry, see every time you asked me to cover a purchase for you, it cost you $40. Remember we discussed that right? So even though I picked up $400 in purchases for you last week, you owe me $1200 this week." That's bullshit.
Right on girl!! WTF, BofA has ripped me off for $945 since i opted out of overdraft fees in November!!!! Before they would pay the item, and charge you $35 NSF, now they DONT pay it and you STILL GET CHARGED $35! I HATE BofA, and I'm gonna file a small claims against that F*&%KING BANK. Anyone know a good class action attorney!????
I hate Bank of America! I think you were not doing anything wrong its just Bank of America being greedy assholes! They raped me for over $700. I am glad someone is speaking about it! I wish I could sue them. Overdraft fees is how the make most of their income. They're stocks are going up in the midst of a small depression. And its because of these ridiculous overdraft fees! Bastards!
I had the same experience where 3 weeks of transaction posted on the same day. I asked them " so your telling me that every single business I used my card at didn't make a deposit until 3 weeks later and that they all did it on the same day?" They said it appears to be that way. Now i have worked many different jobs where every night we do the print out of c.c. sales blah blah blah. I do not believe that 7 different businesses didn't post those transactions for 3 weeks then did on the same day
Go to Bankfreedom on the web and get a free debit card with no fees like BOA. I have used this debit card from Bank Freedom for over 2 years now with 0 fees and love it.
Sorry about your experience, I think the concept of overdraft fee is absurb, the fact that we as citizens are responsible for the livelyhood of any monetary system, as that we provide all the money (energy, work, stress) to it, by natural law owe NOTHING to them nor have to feel obligated when defaulting in a time sensitive nature. The banks get their money from us or of out creation, they also charge 20% interest, yet we can't get a even a10th of 1% for a savings account. SCAM, SLAVERY
I called my school's cashier and a representative let me pay the tuition directly with my credit card. I called my bank and explained the situation and asked them to reject the charge because I had already paid it. They said that they would do that. I asked them would I be charged a fee. They said yes, but I could call the next business day and it would get removed. I called today. They said it couldn't be removed. I asked the guy what the heck I'm paying bank of america $35 to do for me? Yeesh.
I feel ya here. I linked my tuition payment to my bank account through another company called e-cashier. It was basically a company that dealt with payment program. A day before the payment was due I went to the cashier to swift the payment from my bank account to my credit card, but they said I have to call them. I didn't get off work till 10, and I called, but apparently e-cashier doesn't receive calls until after 5. So yesterday at 7:30 e-casher takes $2,000 out of my bank account.
I'm quitting boa today. This is what I've learned working there: the bank is sneaky, people are sneaky, and they both hate each other for being sneaky.
What this is about is the Illusionary tactic of conning people into how they spend there money... UMB bank does the same thing... They take a WEEK.. or TWO WEEKS.. to process a fucking debit card! .. So there riding on people swiping there card a couple extra times and believing that the account is stable from the reciepts they get from the bank. This is why you must use your check book and do your own accounting.. relying on there information is BAD VERY VERY BAD.
Lol They were already doing this years ago. TCF did the same thing to me back in the day, overdrew .32 cents on my checks that I ordered and within a few days, ended up owing 179.63 cents due to pending transactions that had money in there to cover, then they bounced my account and charged me for transactions that were previously paid, till they bounced it then charged me Overdrafts for like 4 or 5 transactions. Not just Bank of America, its most banks. All Crooks.
I understand your frustration, but before you go blasting a company about legitimate fees, educate yourself on how the system works. It's clear you have not done your due diligence in educating yourself about this yet, and it shows in your flawed logic.
So, when you subsequently make additional transactions AFTER your account has already been overdrawn, the bank is essentially paying for YOUR purchases. The merchant must be paid at the point of sale. whether via cash, credit or debit, they receive their funds at that point. As soon as you make the purchase you are responsible for the amount of the purchase even though it takes a couple days for the transaction to clear. Its as simple as that.
@ledzeppelinnut The point she is making is that she should not be charged overdraft fees for something that was in there to cover the purchase. They wait for you to make a mistake, then process like 5 transactions and overdraft all of them, even though 4 of them were Originally NOT overdrew, but they charge them as they are. That is Robbery and your an idiot if you can't see that.
So when your swipe your card and for whatever reason there are insufficent funds in your checking account, you have overdrawn. You see, as soon as you swipe THE BANK is on the hook for your charge, regardless if you have the money in your account to cover it or not. Once the ELECTRONIC check has sufficient time to clear then the transaction is made whole and everyone is happy. However when you don't have enough in the account than it is YOUR mistake and you are liable for any associated fees.
Alright, the fact that you're upset about the fees is clear, I get that. However there are some significant flaws in your vendetta ridden slanted logic regarding these fees. Believe it or not, a debit card is essentially an electronic check. When you swipe it, the Bank makes an immediate payment to the merchant and then clears the funds from your checking account as soon as possible.
That is why I left Bank Of America for the same thing you said.. As well I worked for WAMU and let me tell you I know all the reasons Why WAMU failed and it was not just the home mortgages..
But I agree with B of A 100% and left them for good and I would never do bushiness with them ever again
You are so right about bank of america. You did not even mention how they line up your tranactions from largest to smallest to charge you the most fees possible, even when the money is there, certain things are pending for days.
@jabony038 this happened to me and i asked them why they did it. the lady said, "well usually the large payments are the most important so we let them clear first. we would hate for a mortgage payment to bounce." that don't even make sense! i would rather my mortgage bounce and i pay $35 bucks to u and $35 to them, than for 5 transactions to bounce and I pay hundreds of dollars!!!
@jabony038 Wow this video is preety self explanatory. U forget to mention that even when you close ur savings acct linked to your checking acct, they still charge the "closed" acct.
@jabony038 Exactly! And then they act like they are doing the customers a favor! Its ridiculous! Here's a wild idea for the banks.. How about you just line up my transactions as I make them!!!!! Seems simple enough doesn't it?
The credit unions are a million times better than these big evil banks. Every time I deposited a check in the credit union, it was available immediately. Not in the banks. They wait around forEVER for it to clear. Also, with the credit unions, online transactions go through MUCH faster. At B of A I had a measly online payment transaction for $4.80 to eBay take a week and a half to clear! Now THAT is BULLSHIT! It caused be to incur all kinds of NSF fees later on. I was PISSED OFF!
I have been fucked over and over again by Bank of America too. I got six $35 non-sufficient funds fees in a matter of a few days. It's a snowball effect with the old pending transactions. The payments don't go through in the order that they were made and it screws up everything, especially if you don't have an account overflowing with money as if you have a big fat money tree in your back yard. I have spent lots of time writing them letters and getting them to remove some of these crappy fees.
I feel you vagisil, I dont really hate B of A that much because they reimbursed me $3,000 when someone stole my debit card.....BUT that doesn't mean they are loyal...lol. They still rob me at times so what I do now is keep the minimum balance in my checking and savings account at $1000. (this way I have no worries when they try to be sneaky with OD fees)
Good video, what bank of america is doing is restructuring debit transactions. They are processing transactions largest to smallest and not in the order as they occured. A lot of banks do it, I use to be a regional sales manager at chase, and we did it there too. In california, Wells Fargo was ordered to pay customers back over 200 million last week for this same practice. I had the exact same thing happen to me the last few days through TCF Bank! This resulted in $245 in overdraft fees, and I will probably have another 2 overdraft fees at $35 a pop for 2 transactions that are still "pending". I deposited a check in the morning and had numerous transactions that day, but of course, they took the transactions first and charge me $35 for each one for having an "overdraft", then they added my check! In actual fact I deposited a check first, then spent it. Ugh!
I am dealing with Bank of America's scam just now. I am thinking of just going to cash from now on unless I absolutely cannot. Bank of America is corporate scum cheating the American people.
I feel your pain . I work part time & got some great hours for a week ! I got 44 hours in total . I overreacted on Monday for about $8 & I got direct deposit at 3:00am Tuesday for $300 ! I check my account at the end of the day to see FOUR OVERDRAFT FEES , $35 each ! I don't see how they can do this but I will get my money back ! I am going to call when I wake up . Any tips on what to say to the clerk ? I've overdrafted before & never had this problem . This is outrageous ! I feel like I've bee
Not long ago banks never charged to walk in and cash a check. BofA charges 5 to 6 dollars in Florida. They are scum and i dispise them. The tellers are idiot salespeople .
Some banks dont charge for the pending charges unless they actually "really" clear. So shame on boa for this.
Anyways -- to help avoid those charges -- always stick to "debit" transactions for all your purchases, and pay clients, friends etc with money orders or in cash.
Avoid credit purchases, as those can hang for up to 3 days.
Debit purchases made on friday, sat, sun ofter will not clear until monday or tues. So the 24 hour rule is only good Mon - Thurs.
Try my strategy. If you dont have direct deposit from your job, Cash your work check at the bank it was issued at. At most banks usually charge 5 to 7 bucks for this, or even free. Then go to your real bank and deposit the "CASH", that way the funds are not delayed while they claim "they were waiting for your check to clear" -- Or you can also open a bank account at the "same" bank your employer uses locally, then your paycheck will clear immediately.
@blogstr7 This strategy is unfortunately wrong. I am a bofa customer and I deposited cash 3:30 PM on a friday I assumed this would be credited immediately. WRONG! Depending on the branch, close of buisiness for transactions ended at 3:00PM even cash deposits. One week later I deposited my paycheck and requested some cash back. The teller then turned over my withdraw slip and wrote that including my deposit $587.32 zero my acct. It was $490 in fees $66.13 total i was over.
@josephsylvester1 -- Im sorry to hear about your banking woes man... Anyways... My suggestions are not a bank of America manual, just a few general principals that have worked for me overall. I have more than one bank account. I learn and master each bank rules, ask the tellers questions about deposits and availability etc etc. I would agree though, that many banks have more user friendly policies than bofa though. Ive heard floating credit purchases at bofa = fail for most, use debit only.
I think all banks do this, dont they? I think i got the same thing with TCF bank. with wells fargo, i haven't been screwed over yet because of overdraft protection.
fuck bank of america. i cashed in a check for about 500$ waited a week and withdrawn the money. one month later i find out bank of america took that money back cuz i was written a stolen check. fuck them they can kiss my ass.
Bank of America has always done that. I consider them to be the worst bank I've ever done business with. But when you're dealing with them, its best to treat them like the slow student in the class, in that you have to wait until BOA wakes up and sees that you did put money into your account.
I had a friend in COLLEGE who could figure this one out. He would put money in his SAVINGS account and assumed that it would be in his checking. He works in a bank for another as well. WTF?
Anyone read the Yahoo article about canceling checks. Based on the article, Bank of America will cancel/stop payment on a check for only 6 months for $30. The bank of America customer/victim asked for a permanent cancellation. They said he can every 6 months. WTF?
If you don't have it, you don't spend it. I have a bunch of credit card. I only use two on a weekly basis. I more or less know what is in my account. If I don't have the money I didn't spend it. My credit card company often owes me in cash reward payments. On probably $100 - $150 a year thus far. In all the years I've had a credit card I can count on 1 hand how many times I've been late paying the balance in full.
@vagisil4eva Um, It is a Business. YOU TOOK THAT CHANCE WHEN YOU JOINED THEM ! Sorry, Just saying......My Bank did the same thing, but they WARNED me First, and I Agreed. READ FIRST, Why areyou Shopping at Target ? Wh not a 99 Cent store ? Not being mean, just honest. YOU COULD HAVE WENT TO ANOTHER BANK !

When they owe you money you have to jump through hoops to get it, but if you owe them money they will take it right away with out a seconds notice.

Jenab7 3 months ago
I forgot to mention. I use a VISA debit card for online purchases from Amazon and eBay. For transactions that I make locally, I pay cash. Or, rather, Federal Reserve banknotes. I don't write checks. I don't use credit or debit cards when I buy groceries, dry goods, or tools from the hardware store. Minimizing your risk means, in part, minimizing your exposure to predatory institutions, such as Bank of America.
Jenab7 3 months ago
Bank of America has secretly stolent BILIONS of dollars from Americans... and now since the bank knows that it's in trouble in an egregious last ditch effort ... these motherfucking ENRON-style pirates/thieves are going to try to charge $5 debit card transaction fees beginning in 2012 in order to try to rob everyone one more time to pay off all the lawsuits and damages that Bank of America has incurred from its own crimes against the American People. How's that for a slap in the face?
YFLOInternational 3 months ago
i agree with u... many companies do this.. as well as add extra fees to make cost incredibly high.. it was never like this... the whole world is going to hell....this isn't new... companies do this all the time and get away with it most of the time... but in the long run they won't make it because one wrong move could get them sued and lose millions. If enough word gets out they will eventually shut down.

How the fuck is that protection if they ALLOW you to spend more than you have and then make a profit off of your mistake? donttakefakecredit 8 months ago
You should be ashamed of yourself for doing business with them.
fooschnikens 8 months ago
Many banks do that. Some banks will allow posting or pending, then if you deposit, they will not incur an overdraft if the transactions are still pending. Other banks, if it is pending and the money was not there, even if you deposit is that day, it is overdraft. Some credit Unions will allow you to overdraft for a small fee, but it is hard to get that at a good rate. Your budget is too tight, honey. You should have at least $500 at the end of the month as a rule.

I won't be able to get a house because the banks have force the prices up and the only way to get one is to go to them. I am not slave, i'm sick of tons money being made off millions people how really need it. If they banks give all there money (no wait half the money) the economy would be so much better.

Yeesh.
The19blackbird87 1 year ago
I feel ya here. I linked my tuition payment to my bank account through another company called e-cashier. It was basically a company that dealt with payment program. A day before the payment was due I went to the cashier to swift the payment from my bank account to my credit card, but they said I have to call them. I didn't get off work till 10, and I called, but apparently e-cashier doesn't receive calls until after 5. So yesterday at 7:30 e-casher takes $2,000 out of my bank account.

Sicj 1 year ago
You think that's bad.. try UMB BANK.. there overdraft fees are just as bad.. total scam.
Sicj 1 year ago
Lol They were already doing this years ago. TCF did the same thing to me back in the day, overdrew .32 cents on my checks that I ordered and within a few days, ended up owing 179.63 cents due to pending transactions that had money in there to cover, then they bounced my account and charged me for transactions that were previously paid, till they bounced it then charged me Overdrafts for like 4 or 5 transactions. Not just Bank of America, its most banks. All Crooks.

I understand your frustration, but before you go blasting a company about legitimate fees, educate yourself on how the system works. It's clear you have not done your due diligence in educating yourself about this yet, and it shows in your flawed logic.
ledzeppelinnut 1 year ago
So, when you subsequently make additional transactions AFTER your account has already been overdrawn, the bank is essentially paying for YOUR purchases. The merchant must be paid at the point of sale. whether via cash, credit or debit, they receive their funds at that point. As soon as you make the purchase you are responsible for the amount of the purchase even though it takes a couple days for the transaction to clear. Its as simple as that.
ledzeppelinnut 1 year ago
@ledzeppelinnut The point she is making is that she should not be charged overdraft fees for something that was in there to cover the purchase. They wait for you to make a mistake, then process like 5 transactions and overdraft all of them, even though 4 of them were Originally NOT overdrew, but they charge them as they are. That is Robbery and your an idiot if you can't see that.
MstrMnd420 1 year ago
So when your swipe your card and for whatever reason there are insufficent funds in your checking account, you have overdrawn. You see, as soon as you swipe THE BANK is on the hook for your charge, regardless if you have the money in your account to cover it or not. Once the ELECTRONIC check has sufficient time to clear then the transaction is made whole and everyone is happy. However when you don't have enough in the account than it is YOUR mistake and you are liable for any associated fees.
ledzeppelinnut 1 year ago
Alright, the fact that you're upset about the fees is clear, I get that. However there are some significant flaws in your vendetta ridden slanted logic regarding these fees. Believe it or not, a debit card is essentially an electronic check. When you swipe it, the Bank makes an immediate payment to the merchant and then clears the funds from your checking account as soon as possible.

You are so right about bank of america. You did not even mention how they line up your tranactions from largest to smallest to charge you the most fees possible, even when the money is there, certain things are pending for days.
jabony038 1 year ago 7
@jabony038 this happened to me and i asked them why they did it. the lady said, "well usually the large payments are the most important so we let them clear first. we would hate for a mortgage payment to bounce." that don't even make sense! i would rather my mortgage bounce and i pay $35 bucks to u and $35 to them, than for 5 transactions to bounce and I pay hundreds of dollars!!!
mzvotny 1 year ago
@jabony038 Wow this video is preety self explanatory. U forget to mention that even when you close ur savings acct linked to your checking acct, they still charge the "closed" acct.

OZRIC1985 1 year ago
I have been fucked over and over again by Bank of America too. I got six $35 non-sufficient funds fees in a matter of a few days. It's a snowball effect with the old pending transactions. The payments don't go through in the order that they were made and it screws up everything, especially if you don't have an account overflowing with money as if you have a big fat money tree in your back yard. I have spent lots of time writing them letters and getting them to remove some of these crappy fees.
OZRIC1985 1 year ago
I feel you vagisil, I dont really hate B of A that much because they reimbursed me $3,000 when someone stole my debit card.....BUT that doesn't mean they are loyal...lol. They still rob me at times so what I do now is keep the minimum balance in my checking and savings account at $1000. (this way I have no worries when they try to be sneaky with OD fees)
USANAVY007 1 year ago
Good video, what bank of america is doing is restructuring debit transactions. They are processing transactions largest to smallest and not in the order as they occured. A lot of banks do it, I use to be a regional sales manager at chase, and we did it there too. In california, Wells Fargo was ordered to pay customers back over 200 million last week for this same practice. I'm not sure where you are from- but it sounds like you would be better off using a credit union.. we all would

Ugh!

Not long ago banks never charged to walk in and cash a check. BofA charges 5 to 6 dollars in Florida. They are scum and i dispise them. The tellers are idiot salespeople .
robi2000 1 year ago
Some banks dont charge for the pending charges unless they actually "really" clear. So shame on boa for this.
Anyways -- to help avoid those charges -- always stick to "debit" transactions for all your purchases, and pay clients, friends etc with money orders or in cash.
Avoid credit purchases, as those can hang for up to 3 days.
Debit purchases made on friday, sat, sun ofter will not clear until monday or tues. So the 24 hour rule is only good Mon - Thurs.
blogstr7 1 year ago
Try my strategy. If you dont have direct deposit from your job, Cash your work check at the bank it was issued at. At most banks usually charge 5 to 7 bucks for this, or even free. Then go to your real bank and deposit the "CASH", that way the funds are not delayed while they claim "they were waiting for your check to clear" -- Or you can also open a bank account at the "same" bank your employer uses locally, then your paycheck will clear immediately.
blogstr7 1 year ago
@blogstr7 This strategy is unfortunately wrong. I am a bofa customer and I deposited cash 3:30 PM on a friday I assumed this would be credited immediately. WRONG! Depending on the branch, close of buisiness for transactions ended at 3:00PM even cash deposits. One week later I deposited my paycheck and requested some cash back. The teller then turned over my withdraw slip and wrote that including my deposit $587.32 zero my acct. It was $490 in fees $66.13 total i was over.
josephsylvester1 1 year ago
@josephsylvester1 -- Im sorry to hear about your banking woes man... Anyways... My suggestions are not a bank of America manual, just a few general principals that have worked for me overall. I have more than one bank account. I learn and master each bank rules, ask the tellers questions about deposits and availability etc etc. I would agree though, that many banks have more user friendly policies than bofa though. Ive heard floating credit purchases at bofa = fail for most, use debit only.

jkfaris24 1 year ago
Bank of America has always done that. I consider them to be the worst bank I've ever done business with. But when you're dealing with them, its best to treat them like the slow student in the class, in that you have to wait until BOA wakes up and sees that you did put money into your account.
I had a friend in COLLEGE who could figure this one out. He would put money in his SAVINGS account and assumed that it would be in his checking. He works in a bank for another as well. WTF?
elchamber 1 year ago
Anyone read the Yahoo article about canceling checks. Based on the article, Bank of America will cancel/stop payment on a check for only 6 months for $30. The bank of America customer/victim asked for a permanent cancellation. They said he can every 6 months. WTF?
elchamber 1 year ago
If you don't have it, you don't spend it. I have a bunch of credit card. I only use two on a weekly basis. I more or less know what is in my account. If I don't have the money I didn't spend it. My credit card company often owes me in cash reward payments. On probably $100 - $150 a year thus far. In all the years I've had a credit card I can count on 1 hand how many times I've been late paying the balance in full.
