  • Yzerman a fucking beast

  • Cujo pulled a Luongo! Flat on his belly

  • The Mule seems to be hitting a roadblock a few years back it looked like he could score maybe 50.

  • The Captain was awesome, I want to see someone like Datsyuk, Zetterberg or Franzen step it up to become a legend in this game, my money is on the Mule getting his jersey retired. I miss these days but the future is open to some more meetings with Lord Stanley's Cup. GO WINGS!!! oh and Aves are irrelevant and can suck it lol

  • Steve Yzerman was the definition of beast mode.

  • Stevie Y was pure class.

  • very epic. but datsyuk is much craftier

  • #19 see you in NHL 12

  • and this is y detroit iz da best

  • dislikes are goalies he scored on

  • @crashcourse1999 no it can be hes scored on wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more then 3

  • the last goal was what got me into hockey at the age of 6, thank you forever stevie

  • @blindfold Stevie Y is a fuckin' legend man! Show some respect. Lol

  • god i miss stevie wonder

  • i feel spoiled to be a red wings fan! but i love it!

  • im friends with his cousin so awesome

  • yzerman is such a queer. he kissed martin lapointe like a lil homo

  • y would have had a lot of fun with todays current redwings roster

  • amazing.

  • peter forsberg, joe sakic, steve yzerman, my idols when i was a kid. :)

  • i miss yzerman :( . he belongs in detroit, not managing the retarded tampa bay lightning >:( (obviously he couldnt play in detroit, i mean manage or somethin there)

  • All that hooking and can opening....and does he complain? NO! Crosby would be crying his eyes out and bitching to the refs all night if that happen to him. God I miss the good ol' days. Sakic, Yzerman, Mario, Scott Stevens. That was hockey, today it's more of a skills competition.

  • it should be more like top 100

  • i was like, wheres that bardown slapper form the blue line, untill #1 haha, its a sick goal but not his best :S

  • @xiKoNz He won the series in double OT with that goal. Not as fancy as #2 but the importance of the goal along with that blistering shot... it really is "The Shot"

  • They aren't Red Wings highlights without Mickey Redmond. Right out of the gate.

  • Leader by example right there, Crosby will never even be close to the respect or skill level that Stevie had, Yzerman is just proof that you don't need recognition to be determined.

  • @BigMacke007, just the one against the Blues in 1996

  • I grew up watching Stevie Y and he will always be "The Captain" to me. Nothing against Lidstrom or anything, but no one is better then Stevie Y as a captain. The 2002 playoffs where he single handedly beat the Canucks with a bum knee still amazes me..

  • 0:45 what a psyche out

  • CLASS OF 96

  • It's sad when these kids today think Crosby is so great. I grew up on Steve Y-zers. Nough said.

  • I love how people are brining the Penguins into these comments. You do realize that when Yzerman played, nobody in Detroit cared about the Penguins, right?

I would much rather see some "Go Avs!" comments or something...damn.

  • @jstef215 Go Avs!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @origamifreak22502 Fuck the Avs

  • love the red wings or not, this guy is a legend and was an amazing captain. much respect to yzerman. miss watching this guy play for sure.

  • The Greatest Captain in All of Sports

  • I'm a Sharks fan, I also hate the Red Wings. The only reason why #1 went in is because the golie moved is stick where the puck was not going. OOPS

  • @sportsBayarea ...yeah that's usually how goals are scored...the goalie ISN'T where the puck is...wow Sharks fans are brilliant.

    GO WINGS!

  • @sportsBayarea haha, so you're saying the only reason any of these goals were scored is because the goalie failed to stop them. brilliant

  • @sportsBayarea

how brilliant. ya know, i always thought the puck went into the net when the goalie failed to stop it. NO FRICIN DIR THAT WOUD MEAN HE SCORED, U SHEER AND UTTER IDIOT!

  • @The2clumsygirls You were a fun of both the Wings and the Avs growing up?

  • I will have my Yzerman jersey in the casket with me when I'm dead and gone

  • the one great thing about Yzerman is he used to be a large goal scorer and could dangle with the best of them. in 93 when scotty bowman came in he wanted yzerman to change his game to a more defensive game. instead of complaining he said ok, changed his game, and was still one of the best players to play the game

  • yzerman-howe-datsyuk would have been unstoppable

  • Yzerman is amazing

  • I think #9 should of been #3, how did he sneak that one past Roy? damn!

  • Just imagine...

    Yzerman-Datsyuk-Zetterberg line.

  • I dont agree with the 5th goal choice

  • @juliuscracus you crazy? how often do you see an NHL goalie stumble like it's his first time on skates?

  • @spicyxlilxman Yeah that's the point. It's just bad goaltending. Yzerman is my hero though, don't worry!

  • He is an amazing player on an amazing team :)

  • Detroit needs new politicians

  • This man should be coaching the redwings right now.. But I'm share when coach mike takes the step steve yzerman will take it with in a heart beat.. I was very surprised he left to FL but I guess he needs to start somewere but I no he will run right back to DET when the time comes. All time best

  • @NoLoVeLoStNoLoVfOuNd he's just getting into the game of working as GM down there until Ken Holland retires, then he'll be back

  • Makes scoring while falling look so easy!

  • Best clapper for a goal the world has ever seen!!

  • I have watched the number 1 goal, i dont know how many times, a hundred maybe, and this was the first time i have EVER seen the puck only because it was at less than half speed!

  • This guy was a great leader and hockey player.Heres somthing odd for the amount of year's he played and the point's he accumulated it's hard to beleive he never won a Art Ross trophy or a Hart trophy in his career. But he was a big part of those 3 Stanley Cup teams and 2 Olympic gold's to make up for it!!.

  • great player proud that his last game was against my team

  • Hockey boner. Of course being from The D the #9 goal would of been pushed up in rank for me. Roy looks like a tazed monkey. "WTF just happened?" CLASSIC!

  • This video gave me goose bumps. Amazing how Lidstrom is always right there with him! I love both them guys!

  • Where is the goal vs. the blackhawks in 1989?

  • #2 is just sick!!! but of course number one has to be at number 1.

    yzerman rules.

  • One of the neat things about Stevie is that he plays Canadian hockey. Not better or worse, just different than Hank and esp. Pavel. (Signed - Lifelong Detroiter)

  • crosby looks like shit compared to stevie Y

  • He is the Classiest Team Player and Captain I have ever had the pleasure of watching. He got his stats early in his career and realized it wasn’t the way to Lord Stanley. He adapted, became one of best two way players ever to grace the game and brought the Cup to Detroit for the 1st time in 55 years!

  • @Airmsu It was 42 years btw (1955-1997) and yes he is the classiest player and captian EVER!!! Long live Stevie Y!!

  • Nice highlights, but amazingly it wasn't his goal scoring that made him so great. Every Wings lineup he led was 100% better! A real team player, play maker and leader in and out of the locker room.

  • 4 was sick.

  • #9 WOW!

  • Smooth as Velvet! # 4 was just sic nastyyyyyyy!

  • I'm from Chicago and a Blackhawk's fan but I grew up watching the the wings in the playoffs (cause Chicago sucked under old man Wirtz). I hated the wings when they played Chicago but I always cheered them on in the playoffs because no one deserved the cup more than them.

  • @CBielski87 i once met a person from boston who liked the yankees. i had just gotten out of a shock-induced coma when i read this post, i am currently on life support out of the sheer unbelievability of this moment. i never thought that i would meet a Blackhawks fan who would ever root for the Wings on ANYTHING. just so you know, i was rooting for you guys in '10, thank GOD someone beat the flyers!

  • i've just gained total respect for this guy!

  • God do i miss #19

  • @TomPayment there isn't much of a difference between them, the #'s the same, the only hing different is that ones left and ones right

  • I'm a Pens fan, I hate the Wings. . .but I have the utmost respect and admiration for Steve Yzerman. One of the absolute greatest players in history.

  • @yettibrad I'm a Pens fans too but Im from Detroit. There's not many Red Wings players I like, but Yzerman was absolutely awesome. You can't ask for a better captain, or a much better player for that matter.

  • @tylerdurdonxx dude, you are a Pens fan, in DETROIT? i certainly hope for your sake that noone you know reads this, if you're not dead already. you are in dangerous territory my friend. Seriously though, did you know that not even wikipedia acknowledges our rivalry, you hate us almost as much as the Caps! and we hate you almost as much as the Hawks!

  • @ChiefsandRedWings hehe Yeah the Wings and Pens definitely hate eachother. Don't worry I get shit every day for being a Pens fan. lol. Yeah nobodys ever asked me who I root against more Caps or Wings.....hmm. I guess I probably hate them equally. But lets not misinterpret things. Just because I do not like the Wings as a team doesnt mean I don't have a tremendous amount of respect For Lidstrom and Datsyuk. As well as Zetterberg, seeing how he handled the scrum against Croby last year.

  • @tylerdurdonxx I know, it's like me being a Wings fan... I absolutely Hate the Toronto Maple Leafs. God I hate them... (a few years ago I still hate a tremendous amount of respect for them - still do, just not... the last few seasons) but they are still my favourite team to hate.

  • @slotwinski1414 Yeah I used to love the battles the Wings and Maple leafs had. I remember Cicarrelli just taking a pounding in front of the Maple leafs net from Potvin and the rest of the team.

  • @tylerdurdonxx what the hell are you talking about?

The Redwings were losing that series in 2009 whether malkin or Crosby were shut down dumbass

It took a 5 man cohesive unit to shut down the games best player (crosby) at the expense of leaving Malkin to dismantle the Redwings defense (8 pts in 7 games)

Whether you admit it or not. It took Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Franzen, Kronwall, Cleary to shut down sid, Zetterberg didnt do it all by himself

You shut Malkin down, than Sid torches you

  • @evanderlazer I have no clue what comment you are replying to or what you are even talking about. I'm not even sure what you're trying to argue. All I know is Pens beat Wings for the stanley cup, and I've been hearing people complain and cry about it ever since. Obviously you're one of those people.

  • @tylerdurdonxx lol shut up man, you have no clue what you are referring to or what the main point of the argument is.

Go stick your nose else where.

  • @evanderlazer wow youre a douche. Im allowed to comment wherever I want. Plus you're the one who started bothering me in the first place you fuck head. Go Pens

  • @tylerdurdonxx shut the fuck up you fucking gaylord loser, I'm a fuckign penguins fan you dumb assuming piece of shit.

Learn to fucking read next time.

  • @2:43 is the besssst

  • GO WINGS GO! I remember playing NHL02 with Stevie Y. Great moments of love.

  • Best captain and team mate in all hockey history. A true Red Winger.

    Steve Y rules

  • Gretzky > Yzerman > Lemieux > Ovechkin/Crosby

  • I cant see tht gaol enough! (#1) Tht will be a highlight forever!

  • I bet there are at least 50 other Stevie Y goals that are just as good.

  • dude, dont even bring crosby up in this, your a fucking retard for saying his name anywhere near yzerman, Yzerman has more class and skill and more everything then crosby will ever have or get.

  • @redwingsfan23593424 That's not how to spell "you're". I notice you got "retard" right...

  • @cgdale oh your cool kid, get a life. probably some fat ass nerd.

  • fist pump for mickey redmond as well

  • what a player! Go Stevie!

  • Shelf that Shit on Roy you Bad Ass Mother Fucker!!!! sickest player and the best captain you could ever have all rolled into one

  • wow

  • Damn im from vancouver but I still love this team so much

  • Now I see where Toews picked up some of his moves. Wonderful!

  • dont even mention crosby's name in the same breath as steve yzerman. crosby is nothing to steve, neither is ovechkin for that matter. greatest red wing in history, yah fuck gordie howe, stevie y. is the greatest player to ever wear the red and white. 155 points in a season, only mario and gretzky have more in a single season, 6th all time in NHL points, yah crosby can fuck off he will never be in the same league.

  • yzerman made better plays at age 40 then crosby does at his current age

  • @EVANDERLAZER - Good job on succeeding in being an attention whore with absolutely dumb-fuck comments. Now just because Yzerman refused your sexual advances is no reason to act like a jilted wanna-be cum-catcher - the fact that Crosby played catch with you is obviously clouding your judgment.

I think I speak for all of humanity by expressing regret that your mother missed with the coat hanger. If you could go ahead & die that would just be terrific, preferably sooner rather than later :-)

  • Yzerman is pure class..

  • I will agree that America will never produce a player of Neither Crosby or Yzermans talents so fuck yous.

  • familiar? Not to mention Steve Chiasson, Rick Zombo, Herald Snepsts and Vyacheslav Kozlov, those are all some pretty darn good hockey players. But what separated Yzerman from the rest of the pack was he never spoke out. The team was playing bad, he wouldn't bad mouth it to the press, The team was doing good, he wouldn't boast and brag about it. Yzerman was a pillar of calm, even his is younger days. I can only think of a handful of times in his 21 years of playing were he seemed "rattled".

  • Messier and Creighton were the true leaders of those Edmonton teams, and Lowe. I've always wonder if Lemiuex would have been as good without Jager around. Anyone remember the Pens before Jager when they had Lemiuex? They were 500 at best.

I'm stunned by the "Yzerman didn't have any talent around him before 95" remark. Umm, Federov was drafted in 89. Do the names Adam Oates, Paul Yzerbart, Ray Sheppard, Adam Graves, Bernie Ferderko, Petr Klima, John Ogordnick, Kelly Kisio and Reed Larson sound-

  • He's a cry--baby, they said, he doesn't give up enough of himself to make the Wings a true contender (Don Cherry said this after praising his offensive skills), he'll never be as good as Gretsky or Lemieux, well sure he wasn't, in those 15 or so years that Gretsky played and the 8-9 years that Lemiuex played, they were the best goal scorers. One thing Y had over them, longevity and leadership. I'm sorry but Gretsky was a natural goal scorer, not a natural leader....

  • Next, the Yzerman Vs Crosby debate. This is totally pointless. Yzerman from 83-90 was the third highest goal scorer in the NHL, can you name who 1 and 2 were, I hope hockey fans here can. Crosby probably could have held his own in those days, remember ever "star" had a thug on their team to protect them, remember Probert and Gallant? I'm not saying Crosby is any better, but I do remember a time when national hockey writers wrote the same things about Yzerman....

  • Okay, okay, okay. Life long Wings fan here and I just cannot believe the vitriol and rhetoric I see in the comments. I may have to make more than one comments due to the character limit, but know this, NO other player in the history of the game of hockey wore the "C" longer than Yzerman, NO center in NHL history stopped scoring 40+ goals a year to concentrate on defense like Yzerman did (back in the day if you had a 35+ goal scorer, you tried to keep them a 35+ goal scorer). Next comment....

  • True Class

  • 2:00, Just because he's on the ice, doesn't mean the play is dead.....

  • first of all yzermans 155 points in one year will never be matched by Crosby lets see Crosby skate on 1 leg for his whole career almost and have an almost completly reconstructed knee and get 1755 points in his career. yzermans a legend Crosby still has lots to prove if he wants to be in the class of yzerman and players like sakic lemiouex etc

  • @crue14 hmm I'd like to see what Crosby would do to a standin goal tenders whose best save tactics revolve around a knee jerk kick save that my 5 year old brother could immitate. I'd like to see what Crosby could do when scores like 7-9, 6-3, 9-2, 5-4, 7-5 were common every single day of regular NHL action in the 80's and early 90's. Yzerman was 30 before he sheded his "choke" label.

  • @evanderlazer Crosby is a whiny baby, Yzerman has way more class. Sindy had a much stronger team than Detroit did in the 80's so don't even compare. Yzerman is way better.

  • @evanderlazer okay maybe goalies werent as good back then expept for the few like brodeur roy etc. but you had to be way tougher to play back then. Like nowadays hockey is no were near as tough and crosby couldnt survive that so it wouldnt matter what he could do back then on the goalies cuz he wouldnt be able to battle in the corners with all the hacking. and also i doubt crosby would get 90 assists and 65 goals in one year back then

  • @evanderlazer

Which is how Yzerman built his legendary character. Never once complaining, never once asking to be traded to a better team, even when the Wings were th laughing stock of the entire NHL.

Sidney Crosby had his cup handed to him on a silver platter. He hasn't had to earn anything in this league. If the Wings weren't so good, Bettman would have found a way to give Crosby both the '08 and '09 cups. Hell, even when Pittsburgh somehow won in '09, Crosby was invisible in the Finals.

  • @evanderlazer dude, you realize that even if his number would be better, we really have no way of telling if he would be better back then. so i guess what i'm saying is, coulda, woulda, shoulda, too bad for Crosby.

  • @evanderlazer HA! really that's your argument? I don't think you need anymore reminding of how degrading it is to compair crosby with any respectable player, but none the less... The only way crosby will keep improving at this rate (which doesn't even compare to The Captain or Dats) is if Bettman keeps the referees in line, he's only made great with help. p.s. There will never be another like Stevie Y <333 he still gets my heart racing ;)

  • @PhiendWmd First off i'm not "high on crack". I'm just high on life (i actually volunteer to speak to kids about saying no to drugs for your information!) And I just happened to accidentally stumble on his video (incidentally i was actually trying to find a Crosby video!) And yes i am surprised -no baffled!- how anyone could still remember -let alone talk and watch lame videos- about such an old mediocre player of the past! When they're so many better players playing right now, like Sid the kid!

  • @brassmonkeyjew Crosby couldn't not play the way Yzerman could, nobody in the NHL today could, he was a warrior, he played with a bad knee and still was the heart and sole of his team, watch some videos of Yzerman in the warm ups and watch how he is in pain just stretching his legs and how he still left it all on the ice every time he put on that red wings uniform. Crosby is a very talented player, but he will NEVER amount to the type of player and captin that Steve Yzerman was

  • @brassmonkeyjew lmfao the cry baby kid would not have lasted in hockey back then, back when hockey wasnt for pussys like crosby.stevie y is everything crosby wants to be and never will be

  • @brassmonkeyjew and drugs arent bad you limp fuck

  • @brassmonkeyjew

Wow. Congrats. This might be the most imbecilic post I've ever read on "the Youtubes."

  • AND HE DIDN'T WHINE AND CRY LIKE CINDY CRIESBY SO DONT TALK ABOUT CRIESBY ON THIS VIDEO, CRIESBY IS A DISGRACE.

  • Stevie Y was everything I wanted to be when I was growing up and playing hockey in suburban Detroit. Yzerman was the epitome of a true role model, not a money grubbing, law breaking, wife beating idiot like you see today.

  • how did the double OT game 7 goal vs. the Blues not get in the Top 10

  • @ThePopeDrums nvrmind i saw different top 10 once and this has same title as old vid without that #1 goal in it

  • Haha thats my friends uncle!! Go Canadians!!! :D

  • 1:50 is AMAZING cant see crosby do that sHIT!!!!!!!!!!

  • @JoshWilliamsV but there have been countless goals where Crosby scores while falling down.

  • @tweeko86

Yes, but you see, when he falls it's just because he's diving to try to draw a penalty call from the idiot refs who fall for it.

  • The best all around HOCKEY player.

    Period.

  • Wings losing by sj =/

  • He is an very experienced battlescared playoff warrior!

  • that number one goal is in the commercial for the playoffs right now!

  • crosby > no dick

    ovechkin > chode

datsyuk > black guy in the pants

YZERMAN! > an iron god in there man if i was gay

  • definetly the best captian in hockey history.

  • @POSXIII in sports history

  • @POSXIII Yzerman had respect, that's why I loved him, Jagr was great, no respect though

  • Everybody here is saying Crosby isn't as good as Yzerman because Crosby has help, not the character, so on so forth. This might be true but reguardless, Crosby CAN NOT do most of those 10 shots let alone the rocket that won the series. That is the shot heard around the world. I always liked Yzerman, but this made me realize how much better he really is that I thought we was. He is now in my top 3 players hands down! I'm buying a jersey because of this video. BEAUTIFUL WORK YZERMAN

  • @IIZBOB I couldn't say this better

  • Have you heard the rumors that Yzerman may be taking over Calgary as GM? I hope he never leaves the Wings.

  • @maverickjt2 :( that would make me a sad panda

  • i know im biased when talking about yzerman as in my opinion there was no one better in hockey then him, but think on this untill around "96" who were the support players for yzerman, did he have a jager? a karaya? a messier? a malkin? no he carried that team for years and posted some of the highest numbers in hockey with out other players to make the plays for him. truly a amazing player! YZERMAN THE BEST PLAYER HOCKEY HAS EVER SEEN.

  • @vlainn yea like his 89 season 155 points!!!!! with paul maclean and gerard galant(the coach of my home town qmjhl hockey team coach of the year) as his line mates, mario had paul coffey( i knowd-man but still), and kevin stevens, wayne had bernie nichols lucky luc and steve duchesne. in the top 10 scorers of the season 6 were kings or pens and only one lonely wing

  • @vlainn

  • #1-"the shot"

  • wats so great about 1?

  • It won the series, the game went to OT and he got the game winner

  • @theawsomestdude

Yzerman steals the puck from Wayne Gretzky(The ''Great'' one), comes in, shoot a ROCKET from the blue line that beats the goal tender. Game 7 against the blues, won the series.

  • @ProductionsJoe sorry i didnt no it was such an important goal

  • @theawsomestdude During a 0-0 game, yzerman steals the puck from The Great One, moves in into a 3 on 1, takes a shot just barely above the blue line (with 2 people guarding him, one including Gretzky), and scores on a goalie who was having a shutout that day. Not to mention that goal won the series for the wings

  • Dont get me wrong Crosby is a great player no doubt. I am a Red Wings fan. But Yzerman beats out Crosby anyday. The only thing I dont like abotu Crosby is that he gets everything handed to him. Just puts himself to shame. Im not saying he aint good. Just thinks only of himself.

  • my hero

  • man, the last goal on this clip was shot out like a rocket!!!!

  • Yzerman over crosby anyday

  • @bwindom785 True that. Yzerman would skate circles around Crosby.

  • @bwindom785 why the hell would you even think of comparing yzerman to crosby?.. cindy shouldn't be in the same sentence with stevie. fu

  • @bwindom785

Are you nuts! Crosby is the best player in the NHL today. Yzerman never was!

  • @brassmonkeyjew You are funny. Yzerman is much better than Crosby. Crosby is a little pussy and never will even get another Stanley Cup.

  • @brassmonkeyjew All i am going to say to this is Gretzky and Lemieux were in Yzermans era how are you going to compete with that? You can come back when Crosby puts up 150 points until then you have no credible points.

  • @mastrlegacy

It's a different game now. The high flying 80's of his day was the golden age of scoring. So Crosby scoring 100 points now is the equivalent of scoring 200 back then. And did Yzerman ever score 200?

That's why Crosby is the Gretzky of the new era! And no one talks about old Stevie (though i admit he was a great player in his day just not the best!)

  • @brassmonkeyjew Its easier to score now than it was back then. All the announcers even say that. I'm a Penguin fan and a Crosby fan but you can't say Crosby would have scored 200 points lol he wouldn't have man trust me. They took away the 2 line pass for better offense. If Yzerman didn't have to worry about 2 line passes what do you think he could have done? You can't really compare the 2 eras but most people will say Yzerman was the better of the 2.

  • @brassmonkeyjew ur a fking retard.... Crosby is not even close as a player to Steve Yzerman. One Yzerman does not dive and is a classy play. Two Yzerman is a way better captain then Crosby, did u see Yzerman on a bad knee that could barley let him walk in 2002 playoffs, while Crosby was crying bout a hit Franzen made in game 7 last year. Three Yzerman was killing goalies in 2006. Crosby should not even be mentioned in this. Nor near Yzermans name. Yzerman is a much better player and captain.

  • @brassmonkeyjew Crosby couldn't carry Yzermans' jock. People forget he played injured the last half of his career, and he usually was still the best on the ice,at both ends of the rink.
