Nice ride man, I've got an 03 in silver, just ordered some 15k hids for mine (live in the city, so brightness doesn't matter much). Love those rims, keep it real.
i own a saab 95 hot aero with 250 bhp standard in auto! the thing is u can "teach" the gearbox on these aero cars so they learn 2 change late and it changes faster than the manual ive driven both.
It's not just a matter of the speed with which the gearbox changes gears. We know automatics will be faster at this, hands down.
Auto boxes have significantly more drivetrain losses than a manual (~15% is lost to a manual, ~25% is lost to an automatic) but that really isn't the point either. The level of control you have of the vehicle is by far greater in a manual. I absolutely hate driving automatic cars, because I don't feel like I am in control of the experience.
The auto box kind of does what it wants and you are really just along for the ride. Really has nothing to do with performance, even though I think I can get my 5 speed up to speed faster than an equivalent auto.
yeah its a pre facelifted model, with aftermarket HIDs. Spoke to a mechanic at my saab garage though and he said all ages of saab 9-5 flicker when the HIDs are swutched off, even if they are factory fitted. Something to do with the lower power consumption (35w) not drawing enough current?
Nice ride dude! I used to have a '03 9-5 Aero 5-spd, but the damn thing gave me a lot of expensive problems. So I ended up trading it in for a 2001 WS6 Trans Am 6spd! Have I regreted trading it in...HELL NO, but I do miss it sometimes.
You just bought this? Looks great! Is it a 2005, the last of the beautiful 9-5s. I'm looking at buying one (there's one used locally). Have you had any problems? Is it fun to drive?

So... SAABs are a stylish choice in america? Because here in Sweden it's basically the most common car you can get. I know, i have a 9-3 :)
Still, nice SAAB.

These are the original equipment 17" Aero wheels that came standard on all 2004-2005 Aeros.

No offence.......
but Your Saab 95 aero.......
is the best car in your whole neighborhood......
seriously, every one in your neighborhood apparently only likes shitty japanese cars
you atleast have style, they're all just tools.
Looking with your saab bud, keep it real!

Thank you.
I think it may have something to do with housing prices around here. Everyone spent all their money on their house, so nothings left for cars :p
(For the record, the tiny little condos that occupy half the houses in the background run ~$400k around here :p )
I was lucky enough to buy my car, before I got in on a house :p

For the record, those wheels are just sick. Amazing car!

There is a big chance I have built something on that one. But if you get trouble, don't blame me ;)

Jobbar du i Trollhättan, eller kanske i motorfabriken i Skövde?

Jag jobbade i Trollhättan...

Ahh, med lite tur, om allt detta med Königsegg lyckas, kommer de att anställa en massa människor igen!

I love the color, I have an '03 in white.

so do I (about the color...the best one!) I have 02 Aero Estate in black, and it't doesn't look so gorgeous...

let me guess, its an automatic
NGT2O6 2 years ago
Nope.
It's a manual. I had to look around for the manual, as they are not easy to find around here, but I finally found it, and bought it right away.

I'd never buy a car with an automatic, btw :p

do your HIDs flicker when you turn them off? mine do on my '01 9-5 :(
tompatience 2 years ago
Part of the problem may be that your 2001 has HIDs.
HID's were - as I recall - not offered by the factory until the 2002 facelift...
What do your taillights look like, are the turning signals smoked with a amber color underneath, or are the clear with an amber bulb?

I'm not certain. I have never noticed a flickering, but that doesnt mean it isn't there.
I'll have to check next time I turn them off.
mlach2003 2 years ago
type in "saab 9-5 aftermarket xenons" on the youtube search bar; this is the problem i suffer from too
tompatience 2 years ago
Mine flicker when I shut them off, they are stock HID's. But haven't had a problem with them driving.
