Cornell with a shredded voice is still better than 99% of singers out there. Even though he can't get up in his higher register as cleanly anymore, he still has a ton of character in his voice and one of my favorite tones. He learned a lot of little vocal tricks over the years....it's like a pitcher in baseball who started off with a 100 mph fastball, but as he got older and lost velocity he had to develop his curveball and changeup to make up for it. Still a great singer, just different.

Also, he states that main influences are Angus young and Jeff Beck, which is very clear in this album (alot of pentatonic solo scales etc.)
It's Rock n' Roll and there are ALOT of guitar players, so its gonna sound somewhat similiar whatever you do :O

Cornell with a shredded voice is still better than 99% of singers out there. Even though he can't get up in his higher register as cleanly anymore, he still has a ton of character in his voice and one of my favorite tones. He learned a lot of little vocal tricks over the years....it's like a pitcher in baseball who started off with a 100 mph fastball, but as he got older and lost velocity he had to develop his curveball and changeup to make up for it. Still a great singer, just different.
