i owned this 12' single growing up and liked this song. when my sister was in the army , a friend of hers gave her a cassette with recorded music from a station in new york..i was just a small kid back then. i never remembered who sang this song until just right now! i knew the label was yellow..kept bothering me. can't believe it took me years to remember!!
Maravilhosa essa música!!, Usada para pescar, pelos nativos. Os homens cantam enquanto batem na água direcionando os peixaes às rede e essas são arrastadas pelas mulheres para a praia os aprisionando.
I always loved this song I bought the LP record acetate back in 1978 in El Salvador, I went to visit my sister 3 years ago and she still keeping my records after all these years that was a real dance music that made dance even the most stiff, thank you for downloading this Disco Gem
OK, OK! Mauruuru.
My brothers and I always called this song 'The Fugitive Party Song', simply because it stuck in our heads when we saw the movie and we didn't know the actual name of the song.
I actually thought to look at the credits for The Fugitive just now and here I am. lol
I once knew a guy named Rick Watanabe......he was the only one who could translate this to me......GREAT song!!!! .....can see the hula hips even now (not Rick's)
LA BAILE EN EL KINDER ESA ROLA EN EL AÑO DE 1979 Y SIEMPRE LA RECUERDO HABIA UNA NIÑA QUE ERA BUENA PARA BAILAR ESE RITMO YO SIEMPRE UN TRONCO, SOLO FUE UN RITMO PARA ANIMAR EL FESTIVAL EN AQUEL DIA LOS NIÑOS QUE LA BAILAMOS NO DEJABAMOS DE VER A LA MAESTRA LO BIEN QUE SE MOVIA ESO SI LO RECUERDO JAJAJAJAJA.
@jaml78 HOLA DESDE ECUADOR, YO ESCUCHE ESTA CANCION CUANDO ESTABA EN EL COLEGIO Y LA ESTABA BUSCANDO DESDE HACE FUUUUU, Y ENTRANDO Y SALIENDO LA ENCONTRE, FANTSTICO,
My best friend and I were military brats in Guam - she took hula/tahitian dance and I joined her later on. This was my favorite song/dance from that time. I found other versions of this but this is THE version we used. I love that the vocalists sound so raw! Now I need to find the disco version of South Sea Island Magic that we were learning a dance to. Was that on the same album?
Yaay...I finally found this song. Been thinking about it for weeks but all I remember was that Hawaiian disco song? Thanks for posting. Brings back good memories...I wanna dance now! Disco lives...OMG I remember those songs by Voyage, Souveniers, and Love & Kisses!
umm i dont know about disco, but this sure is a good song that brings back the Tahitian Dance competitions we did and attended when i was growing up =)
I have the original LP of Voyage - Souveniers. My father gave it to me; my uncle Victor gave to him back in 1984. Victor died on accident back then, he was 28. I remember like yesterday this music, i was a kiddo back then.
Such a happy song. Although I do not understand a thing they're singing, I'd like to believe they're singing about celebrating life. Thanks for the post.
LOL that is so funny!! i remember this song so well, since my family is from Hawaii and grew up dancing to it, of course competing at all the Tahiti Fete's throughout life. . . i always wanted this song and my grandma was so greedy and never wanted me to have it. . .she wanted to be the ONLY person to own a copy. back then it was recording on cassette tapes, but thanx to YOUTUBE and a wonderful converter, he he i NOW have a copy. tremendo tema les juro que busque este tema y el de souvenirs por mucho tiempo en aquel entonces era un polluelo muy joven y tenia el cassette casi todos los de esa epoca el tema era buenisimo muchas gracias
I love this song, and most of all their version. Thank you for posting this! I can't listen to this and stay still- I'm moving all over the place. The total Puerto Rican comes out in me- every part of my body moves.
@MegaDbar Hey, if that is all you know how to do, then that is all you will do. ME? I will Samba to this AND dance some bad-ass cuban motion - after all I am a professional dance teacher (30 years), so I guess I'd know, eh? You should take some samba lessons, then you'll get it.
