Guess we saw a replay of this today xD Renshaw leading for Cav inside the last km, Petacchi goes early and holds ftw. But here he did not need to ride through the road and quite block Cav =P
What everyone neglects to acknowledge is the fact that Cavendish is merely beating the guys Petacchi and Cipollini absolutely destroyed. Who was Cav racing for green this year? Hushovd? Come on, I like Hushovd a lot, but he was nowhere near as fast as Petacchi in his prime. Now, Hushovd is old, and can still beat Cav. No one wants to admit that there has been a decrease in the number of quality sprinters. Everyone is focusing on being an all arounder. Petacchi: best sprinter to grace the sport.
@ptrbyd Well, people always look back nostalgically at the past, but at the end of the day, the sprints are run off at a higher speed nowadays, which negates the effect of a sprinter with a fast kick (like Cav) and most of the sprinters in the big races are not doped up to their eyeballs anymore :D
@ptrbyd yeah he was fast, but sorry I dislike people who dope or once doped. he was banned in 2007 for doping. Mark Cavendish is THE best sprinter to grace the sport.
I have one word for this. Incredible! Petacchi did something that no one could in this years tour. Win Cavendish in fair and square flat sprint. And what a performance when you consider that Boasson Hagen and Renshaw delivered the perfect lead out for Cavendish and still Petacchi was better. He reminds that Columbias lead out train and Manxmissile aint invincible.
this years green jersey should of been his...the majority of people new he didn't swerve in front of another rider coming towards the finish line...the barrier simply dipped inwards giving the illusion he hand moved towards the barrier.
Go Cavendish. 2010 will mark another tour of stage wins for mark cavendish!
Petacchi, what a sprinter! I'll never forget the way he quit the Tour de France during one of the first mountain stages. He won 4 times in that Tour, and it was his only Tour. He just got off the bike, and thought; mountains?? Hell no. I'm going home with my 4 stage wins in the pocket. What a guy, what a king.
I consider Mark Renshaw is the best lead out man today. He did just amazing job in this years tour. He delivered every single time when it was asked for. He even did some 600metre last pull in one stage which is enormous distance to the last lead out man. Hincapie was also fantastic. Theres no doubt about that Columbias Martin/Burghardt-Hincapie/Boasson Hagen-Renshaw-Cavendish is the best sprint "train" today.
CAN CAVENDISH COME AROUND HIM IN THE FINAL 25 METERS ????????? NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
