It was good to be in the audience for the presentations. After 12 years near the front line of evangelism for Chicago's rightful place on the global stage, I remain concerned we say more to separate ourselves from the world than to align us. When we brag about being "the best digital city in the world," we alienate cities with better long-term track records. When we say we don't compare ourselves to other regions, we invite comparison. Cities and ventures benefit from besting best practices.
