this crappy festival is not the best way to showcase regional festivals that dont need a contest or prizes to be known throughout the philippines and the world. this is the best way to cheapen regional festivals by declaring who is the best festival in the country. just come and visit every region when their festival is on thats the best way you promote one's cultural heritage.

It would have been more entertaining if we had adult performers, MAHARLIKA of RMC which has been renowned as Grand Slammer in previous Kadayawan festivals should has been given a chance to compete, or there should have been selection from the talents of different universities and colleges in Davao such as ATENEO, USEP, UIC, SPC, UM, DDC, Broke, and etc to represent KADAYAWAN Festival.

costumes were very ordinary, many times that centerfield was being left empty for few seconds, the drums beats or its instrumental were quite good but it required more agility for the performers to jive on, the performers were very young, although they were inspiring to watch at yet they were unable to materialize synchronizations and were seemingly a bit disorganized.

Our entry should has been innovated the cultural presentation by incorporating the ethnicity of Kadayawan with some modern dance artistry like putting vibrations and flavoring some acrobatic formations that performers couldnt only use props to crack visual impression yet their presence as well could be used as primary ingredients to form movements like what SINULOG and DINAGYANG entries did;

Although, ALIWAN was all about showcasing the different Festivals around Philippines, but this activity shaped through a dance competition and wherein judges were chiefly scaling their points from visual impacts or gracefulness of dance steps.

This entry of Kadayawan was indeed a mediocre routine or a so-so performance, the choreography focuses more on dramatizing the depth of the festival (kadayawan) and was unable to put much twists on it.

yes the steps of halad are fast but come to think did they have the proper execution??

your right hoelick. mas colorful jud ang cotabato wala jud mo angal. but based sa coreo. sa music kay too mabilis. murag di masabtan. parang out of controll gani. tapos ang sayaw, compare mo ang dalawa, i prefer kadayawan kay dili lang basta basta nang ilahang sayaw. original jud siya sa first tribe sa davao gi based ang sayaw.

kagwapo kaya sa choreography ani.. palibhasa naa man gud sa kilid ang nagvideo.. atleast, fast-paced and challenging ilang variations.. dili boring and dili monotonous na mass movements.. the magallanes dance troupe should have won.. music=wise, kagwapo sa shift ah..ayos kaayo uie.. your sentiments about this group being distasteful reeks of crab mentality... this dance should have won..

Friendly comment. Kadayawan has nice choreography as it is. I like the shoulder movements and the "ethnic" flavor. But two things that might be considered to make it a real strong contender sa Aliwan:

1) Work on more solid, mass movements. For stronger impact. Unison, synchronized moves albeit simple.

2) More "adult" dancers for strength and energy.

wow Davao gyud!!!.. sayang ang performance and concept nyo ang cute ng mga dancers ng davao pero mdyo madumi and halata ang mga sabit sa pag dance... sana nag join ang tecarro pra mas go go go ang Davao... nxt time try nyo mag colaborate sa magagaling na choreographers and coordinator. dami magagaling na choreographers sa davao, if mag combine yan sila lahat, naku!!! humanda ang cebu and ilo-ilo kc im xure DAVAO can make it on TOP (champion!!!)... :)

based on my observation, maganda ang koncept ng kadayawan sa aliwan. im a davaoenyo and anytime may kadayawan, iba talaga ung sayaw nila, ang bilis. and halos lahat ng dancers ay elem. pa at ang gagaling 4th place pa pano pa kaya kng hs ang sasayaw diyan. go kadayawan.

observance ko lang sa konflict btwen ceb's sinulog at ilo's dinagyang. ok lang naman ang dalawa e. iba iba lang ang koncept ng dalawa. iba ang sa sinulog, iba rin sa dinagyang but overall, maganda naman ang dalawang festivals.

very good performnace in depicting davao's culture. In Aliwan, showcase of culture should be a priority, not dance routines. I admire Kadayawan's theatrical represenation of Davao's heritage. im an ilonggo.... peace davao!
