  • @thezepplinfan100 couldn't agree more. It's also good to know there a Led Zeppelin fan as young as I am and would give any thing to go back and see one of there concerts

  • led zep <3

  • 6 People aren't Heartbreakers

  • thanks!

  • thumbs up if u listen this in 2011 !!!!

  • @shattertail No...I'm listening to this in 1732

  • ......how does this video have dislikes?

  • man there no where near as good live...

  • @dave55 Are you kidding me? Led Zeppelin was known not only for redefining rock music but were best known for having the most amazing live performances EVER. They are so interactive and feed off the audience. They all have such charisma. Each band mate can flow off of one another Sure they had their rough patches like any band but if you make that statement according to all their live performances, I would be shocked. And I could guess you don't know the true meaning of LED ZEPPELIN. <3

  • @shelleshockxx thanks for the essay dickhead, do you really think this is as good as the studio version? yes there an exceptional band but not live...<3

  • @dave55s What are you saying, im 15 and i wish i could see them live. Id do anything. Whats wrong with this, how can you like zeppelin, but not like them live? They put on the most amazing shows ever. Seeing Jimmy Page live is like to see jesus in person. How could you not like that, you are obviously not a true Led Zeppelin fan if that is your case you raphead. SUCK ON THIS ESSAY!!!!!!!!!

  • ...and for all you little newbies just so its clear I am a huge Zepp fan. this is from Knebworth 1979. I had this video back in 1989 on VHS even back then at age 13 I knew this sucked

  • this is pretty much the end of Bonham here........he is so tired here and uninspiring and as for jimmy heroin ruined him in the later years of zeppelin....

  • @AlllamericanQB

I hear ya, I hate the fact that I have to watch all of this amazing concert footage on youtube instead of actually getting to see them in person..now we have to be stuck in this stupid generation with god awful music.

-Pepper, 16 and born in the wrong generation

  • @ stillstucklearning. Kinda sounds like Air Mail Special. If you find out lmk. :)

  • yeah!

  • 6 people live in the broken hearts street.

  • Frodo page! :D

  • This "Jimmy" kid has potential.

  • man i love that chicken picking that jimmy page does hahaha it just adds style

  • THIS BAND SUCKS.....

    .

    .

    .

    .

    at being shit

  • Ahh Robert Plant is an amazinglead singer!

I think this guy is one of t he best lead singers ever.

  • Page is SO stoned yet so FUCKIN AMAZING!

  • i love how plant said goodnight, so classy

  • pure fucking genius

  • Led Zeppelin must have led the finest lives anyone's ever lived. It's the 70s and you're a music legend... WHAT THE FUCK MORE CAN YOU ASK???????

  • @DrunkenLeprechaunPro You know nothing >.> Robert Plant's kid died when he was 5 years old, john bonham choaked on his own vomit in 1980, and jimi page was always drugged or drunk. These 3 things ultimately led to the end of Led Zeppelin. The greatest band of all time, but they still had their flaws.

  • @Bananalisk

I'm sorry I offended you, but the fact remains that as far as drugs, sex and rock & roll is concerned, Zeppelin had it all.

  • @DrunkenLeprechaunPro another 30 years of it!!

  • ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • On this night, Colleen Stan was locked in a coffin-like box under that sick &%$#'s bed and she'd be there for another 4 years until she escaped. If I could go back in time, I'd go get a posse of people together and some guns and go rescue that poor girl and probably kill that fool in the process (of course I'd only be about 7 years old, but I'd know what I as doing cause I'd have a 37-year-old's mind). After we took care of business, we'd go watch zeppelin play and warn them about Bonzo.

  • would be a great song, if there wasn't this guitar solo.....

  • @D4VEMURR4Y the solo is the best part of the song...you must not be a guitarist

  • @whenallisone I am. And this solo pretty much sucks in my opinion... even on the record.

  • awh great song , <3

  • Ok

Without Jimmy there wouldnt be Slash, Kirk Hammett & Others

Without JPJ there wouldnt be most of the bass players now!

Without Bonham there wouldnt be Dave Grohl, Tre Coole or Travis Barker

& Without Plant Led Zeppelin wouldn't of been Led Zeppelin everyone made a real Landmark in Rock History

  • @Jordo1900 without Jimi Hendrix, their would barely be a Jimmy lol

  • @WhatsAscope nottt neccessarily, page hardly mentions hendrix not sure if hes even the slightest influenced by him, they have nothing to do with eachother

  • I love the JP solo.....what is not to like???

  • JOhn bonnham was the drummer tht invited it all

  • but for jimmy page that guitar is not heavy????

  • i hate it wen led zeppelin does this :l they always turn ther live songs into some completly differnt song

  • too bad the solo is freakin terrible

  • fodah!

  • All Right! ?? All Right! ?? All Right, Good Night

  • greatest band

  • the best part is 0:00 to 6:37

  • #1. Heartbreaker

    #2. Black dog

    #3. kashmir

    #4. Stair way to heaven

  • Led zepplin is the fucking best band to ever fucking live and anyone who doesn't like them then u can fuck off go to hell and kiss my ass

  • wow

  • Jimmy Page, 2:54 to 3:40 brilliant, and toneful. For whatever reason.. the rest was sub-par.. the studio version blows this away. Apparently, Page was blasted and/or exhausted, and/or just sick of the routine. (any or all) Plant does a good job compensating for his lack of range.. and I realize the studio version he sings is a tough gig to follow in an extended tour. JPJ and Boham got little credit when Page/ Plant stunk up the stage. Bonham is Brilliant!!!!

  • Zepplin didn't write this- this was by the band The Dukes featuring Jimmy McCulloch originally

  • @QueenBeatlesWings you talk fucking aids you cunt!

  • The live solo is by far better than the studio version

  • Best band ever

  • Amazing song. Asombrosa canción.

  • Jimmy Page=God

  • @Snoflake125 jonh paul jones too

  • i love it :)

  • All right! Good night!))

  • Lol this was when he was all strung out on heroin

  • 1)Stairway to heaven

    2)Heartbreaker

    3)Kasmir

  • isso é talento puro, som maravilhoso, valeu por existirem leds...

  • possible the most awesome thing Ive ever seen

  • fuckin classic now what concerts this from?

  • @evb4mvp this was recorded at Knebworth Arena on August 4, 1979 during the first of their 2 appearances there that month.

  • this solo rocks more than the studio version

  • this is very nice riff!

    and yeah, page rules!

  • Page=Guitar's Mozart

  • I love jimmy page's gritty and sloppy playing. Most players go for cleanness but the grit and slop gives the performance color.

  • @CavenEdwards I totally agree on your comment. He knows what he's doing, and creates tension.A group known for being intense!

  • @CavenEdwards I understand your admiration of the grit and slop; however, a musician of Page's caliber does not need the grit and the slop to give the performance color...it's beneath him...look at other blues/rock guitarists, like Clapton, Beck, or Slash, who have impeccable precision and musicianship and still get the color and the rhythm, and the pure sexiness of the genre...

    just my humble opinion...

  • @CavenEdwards thats because he was on massive amounts of heroin and fucked all the time.

  • @CavenEdwards no one squeaks quite like Page on a guitar

  • @CavenEdwards he makes mistakes you can make, for some reason it ( almost ) never suck :P

  • this is why L E D Z E P P E L I N is my fav band

  • does anyone know if jimmy was using his plexis or did he switch to orange during the knebworth show.

  • @varone6t9 It sounds like a Marshall to me.

  • bonzo=best drummer ever

  • Was he one of the first to use a double neck twelve and six string, an I did see JPJ playing a triple neck guitar on one battle of evermore, it had a twelve, a six string, and a mandolin

  • One of my favorite things about seeind Zepplin and the Who's live videos is see Pete anf Jimmy playing those nice and simple guitars and then seeing John and John playing these huge outlandish basses

  • @LOTR22090 haha word!

  • Jimmy Page foreveeeerrrrr !!

  • wat year did this take place

  • I like his guitar playing 77-80.. I don't see why you guys are hating on a god lol

  • @Seanwashere6 not that they're hating on jimmy is just, come on you can see the guy isn't what he used to be. The mark of a true fan is to note when their favorite artist is not doing good and not be blind.Freddie mercury once in 1974 asked a fan how a queen show went, the fan said "you guys were amazing" freddie said "wrong answer" because it wasn't. No one stays on the top forever.

  • I really don't see much of a difference bewtween 1975 and 1977 or any other year

  • I do see a difference. Page isn't as fast or accurate as he was in 70' til about 75'. in 77' he started to wind down a bit but that's just a combination of drug abuse and age. by 79' 80' zeppelin wasn't what it used to be. Even by fans' accounts and biographies all say that by the zeppelin over europe tour of 80' bonham wasn't playing that good and page's guitar playing had deteriorated.

  • Ok pages guitar playing may have went down a little bit but I enjoy it lol.. And Bohnams drumming was getting better wth age

  • no don't get me wrong to this day i enjoy his playing because he was a trailblazer a legend in music. Always innovative, coming up with stuff. So I see him as an original source in his style of playing besides you can still learn a few things from him I think.

  • @fairyfellermaster...he wasn't nearly as original as you may think....the Bow stuff was done before by Eddie Phillips, his style of blues/rock was done better by Peter Green, Tony Iommi is pretty damn similar as well, just cleaner...and lets not forget Blackmore!....The Theremin is pretty unique though....but as far as guitar....not really that ground breaking, just the most remembered cuz they wrote the most radio-friendly songs of that arena of hard rock.

  • @scottelliottmusic Just tell it like it is, Jimmy Page made better songs period than Tommy Iommi, Peter Green and Ritchie Blackmore, that's why they are played more than any other band.

  • @MerkinMuffly thats what I said....he wrote the most radio-friendly songs of that era of hard rock. They were the first group to have their entire catalogue in the top 200 at the same time.

  • led zep rule

  • His guitar playing is actually pretty good here compared to some of their performances in those days, he only kind of failed a bit on the tap part.

Nothing beats the early days though.

  • @Lundolf yeah he's awesome but still if you listen closely you can tell he's a bit drunk :D :D

  • @ Lundolf....geeze....i'd hate to hear the worse stuff. What was going on at the time that he fell off? And what period is this from?

  • Well, from what I can tell, this clip is from one of their last performances, maybe in chicago at 80, An maybe they've rehearsed a bit here, i dont know, but it sounds good.

You have a few times in 77 when I think Jimmy is just stoned out of his mind or something, and some accidents at Knebworth 80 that might have affected his playing (equipment, stings snapping, etc.)

But the worst I have seen of Jimmy, is one of the Stairway performances at the ARMS concerts in 83

    /watch?v=wKlEVtA_TGQ

    (solo)

  • was that the one where he played it solo? And Beck and Clapton saved him at the end? If so, I've been catching a ton of flack from people on here for saying it was horrendous....which it is, he sounds like a 1st year player or something

  • Correction, this is Knebworth as well :P

Yeah, It's the one where he played a tour with jeff Beck and Clapton..They all started semi together in the Yardbirds.

It is, without a doubt, the worst I have seen of Jimmy Page, but hey, everyone has a worst.

One thing I like about Jimmy though, is his stage energy, hes running around, smilling and having fun, while the others are just standing there, Mopin around..

  • Yeah...I would def. say he is one of the top Rock Stars of alltime, but I wouldn't put his guitar skills in the top 10...or 20, speaking strictly live. Studio, however, he's a masterfull hard-rock arranger. Def. one of the best hard-rock writers and recorders. Plus he has a lot of studio time with other artists..im pretty sure he even played on some Stones stuff early on.

  • @scottelliottmusic Whoa, I disagree with you wholeheartedly on your opinion with his live playing. I agree that he's one of the top rock stars of all time, he's been a great pioneer of his time.

But Jimmy Pages' live playing is in my opinion something of the best I've heard, from what I've seen, his abillity to make good improvisations on stage started taking a downfall round 76, probably from drugs or something, but anything before that is nothing short of extraordinary/amazing.

  • I know.....I'm terribly un-popular for my take on Page. As player, I just don't find him that difficult to emulate, where as some other players, I can hardly get down half a solo. He is just really sloppy so it sounds like he's doing a lot, but as a player, I know hes just hitting a mess of notes as quick as he can, but w/ out much fluidity or melody. But in the studio he has the melody and more fluidity. Listen to some Tony Iommi live to see what I mean.and he has fake fingertips!

  • Even if that is true, it still sounds pretty darn good to me :P

I know I'm a page fanatic, I just love his and Zeppelins music is all :)

  • Yeah he makes good improvisations cause he always plays on Blues Scale , Jimmy Rocks!!! So Led Zeppelin

  • @Lundolf This IS from Knebworth which was held in 1979, not 1980.

  • Check one of my earlier posts and you'll see that i corrected myself from the statement where i said that it might have been chicago in 1980, but said that, " oh wait, this is actually knebworth"

Not to be rude, but if you're going to correct someone, at least read everything before you start commenting, since I already had corrected myself :)

  • @Lundolf My apologies mate, the way the comments are laid out, with some as direct replies to people, means that others can be missed. You still got the year wrong though, ha! No offence intended. James.

  • look what heroin did

  • That´s true, some people may not agree, but is a fact

  • 0:1 - 0:5

    It was so fucking troublesome

    but i´ll give 5

  • god said "let there be good music" and there where Led Zeppelin, and god said "let there be awesome people" and Led Zeppelin started playing

  • the irony of using god on a led zep video :p

  • That Solo Is SO BadAss!

  • @ratboy0487 ...

  • My favorite Led Zeppelins' song <33

  • Oh Sweet God. Jimmy Page is my hero.

  • Come on people give John Bonham some credit. He's an amazing drummer.

  • Every single Zep fan does Snw....It's just that this song was made to show Page's skill with the guitar, ;)

  • @snwbrdhi5522 BONZO IS LEGEND!!

  • @snwbrdhi5522 Don't forget JPJ and Plant! They're all as amazing as each other!

  • @snwbrdhi5522

he was not just an amazing drummer. HE'S THE GREATEST!

  • @MarkRigor17 cant imagine Led Zep without the two Johns, John Bonham and John Paul Jones ... most imaginative drum grooves and bassline.

  • page has good tone here

  • Comment removed

  • jimmy page rules!!!!!!!

  • Yo estoy de acuerdo con vos... La verdad no esta ni cerca de ser una buena version de la excelente cancion q es

  • A amazing song! Jimmy Page RULES

  • Very Good!!!!

  • How many people do you think are plastered and out of it? ha. Yeah. This kind of reminds me of a T & Nail band I saw. The band members were fighting. Ruff tour? Check out how he flags down the drummer before the solo. . . wait my turn. haha. So much is going on...its fun.

  • W PAGE!!!!!PAGE RULES!!!!

  • I love how John

    Paul says "we're joking"

lmfao I love him so much!!!

  • not gonna lie, guitar solo sounded terrible. i love page and i love zeppelin. but page really screwed up.

  • Well you gotta keep in mind that he was probably plastered and/or stoned like a mofo. The only person that can play as well as he did with that many chemicals in his body that comes to MY mind is Jimi Hendrix... Or if we're talking just alcohol then Alexi Laiho. That guy doesn't even RECORD sober. that in and of itself if impressive to me. Haha.

  • Jimmy Page shouldn't have done heroin, he looks like a freakin' corps and his playing compared with 5 years earlier is bad. 2.38 - 2.43

  • you guys gotta stopp jazzing this up. this might be one of the worst performances of this song i have ever heard

  • does it bother you if someone else likes it ?

  • what bothers me is that if this was any other no name guitarist every one here would have said the same thing as me. the only reason all of you people like it is because its jimmy.

  • why does that bother you ? i don't get it .

  • because it sucks?

  • I would listen to something else and not worry about it . That is what a normal person does

  • yeah well i like zeppelin. i just hate how shitty jimmy page played this song. its my opinion so back the fuck off

  • good for you . take your prozac , you miserable prick .

  • does anyone know where i can get a set of jimmy page signature burstbuckers

  • plant is the best ever....

  • Listened to many versions fo this song live. The best solo if from How the West Was Won. Page flubs the hammer-ons, as several have said. I'm an MD- he appears to me to be withdrawing on stage during this performance, and using cigarettes which he is smoking during several songs to control withdrawal symptoms.

Despute his drug use, Page is one of the greatest guiarists of all time. His enormous talent and musicality shows even when he is in such poor shape.

  • At this point, Page was so smacked out on heroin. It's a wonder he is keeping his composure let alone playing guitar up to par somewhat. Even his sloppy performance sounds good, but could've been better if he wasn't so drugged out.
