I admire James Dyson for he's inventions, he has launched the vacuum industry into the future with he's bagless cleaner back in '93, but i dont admire him for taking jobs and production away from England in favour of cheaper labour in Malaysia. Admitted there well made, I just think there not the best and very over rated. Samsung vacuum's im my own opinion are the best, but it depends on what you want from a cleaner. Samsung vacuum for me mate!
1.They DO loose suction - if you use them in a place where there is dust in the air, they will soon have a clogged intake filter, which, if washed and dried and refitted, will restore lost suction.
2.The hard acrylic like plastic parts are much to fragile to support the weight of the machine and is prone to cracking.
3. The cyclone STOPS DEAD if you put your hand over the end of the wand.
@philjquitt Actually the Dysons are made of incredibly strong plastic it is the same plastic they make Car Dash boards with Acrylic is to weak it would crack i have one myself and have dropped it down a flight of stairs (by accident) and it did not even crack.
@sourpuss1996 - If it's made of polycarbonate, rather than acrylic, it is way tough. You can take a polycarbonate lens from your eyeglasses stomp on it with your heel, and it will look at you and say... "that all you got?". That's why polycarbonate took over from acrylic for spectacles lenses.
1. Dyson DO LOOSE SUCTION if used in a dusty atmosphere, as opposed to a place with settled dust. The suction is restored immediately you wash and dry(several hours) the sponge intake filter.
@sourpuss1996 , your welcome. Just be aware that if you should use your Dyson to clean up in a situation of airborne dust, such as dust created doing renovations, the sponge filter(the intake filter) which is actually designed by Dyson to be regularly cleaned by washing and drying, will clog. You are supposed to clean that filter anyway. The model I have is called a Dyson DC08 with 12 Radix Cyclone.
@zunehdrocks you don't seem to understand what's being said. Perhaps you resort to childish swearing as a way of venting the frustration you feel at not understanding.
personally, I like my kirby. Bought it at a pawn shop for $50 then went to a local vac shop for parts to fix it up. total came to just over $100 for a VERY powerful, SOLID vacuum that is made mostly of METAL not cheap thin plastic. If you're going to spend $500 on a vacuum, buy a refurbished Kirby (or refurbish it yourself like I did) or buy a Royal all metal upright or miele or riccar. They will last much longer and work much better.
Working at a vacuum repair shop, the number one vacuum that we get in to repair is Dyson. On the average at least 3 to 4 a week. The least Miele, the only thing that they bring in miele's for is a check up, belt change and filter change with a clean up.
Dyson's constintly clog up, have changed out motors, and plastic cracks in the body of the vacuum. In other words they are a waste of your money.
I just bought one. My first impression, I am impressed compared the ones I had before. It is almost a pleasure to do the housekeeping. As the saying goes: good tools, good work.... with a five year guaranty, my trust is reinforced... time will tell...
yes, I still like it.. I use it twice a week.. What I like it is the strenght and no bags :-) after each use I empty the dirt container and store the vacuum...
What I really want to buy is a vacuum that is built of carbon fiber, never breaks, never losses it's rated 1000cfm of suction no matter what I'm extracting, Runs on a free energy source, it will also have to be completely silent, weigh under 8 lbs. and Oh yeah! cost less than 100 bucks.
If I can't have that I'll never be happy. Besides it makes me feel like I'm better than you if I can say I have the best darn vacuum out there, and I never have to empty it. ...LOL
What a fabulous video..LOL c'mon this kind of footage just gives a product a bad name.
I have actually owned a DC07 for 3+ years with no REAL problems but after reading through all the other negative testimonials here I just want to throw my DC07 in the trash.
For those who have the bucks for a really good vacuum, buying a DC21 is like throwing your money away. A better investment is the Miele. I just got a Miele Callisto cannister after doing tons of research, and all I can say is it truly is outstanding. The point here is if quality is what you're looking for, stay clear of the hype and do your homework. With Dyson, it isn't really all about the product; it is all about the marketing.
Dyson is true quality; from the motors, to the quality of the plastic and components, to the performance, Dyson - from what I have gathered, is PURE quality.
The myth that a cyclonic vacuum, i.e. Dyson, performs better because it doesn't lose suction isn't born out by independent consumer tests. I'm sure the testers aren't so stupid that they haven't taken into account how full the bag is when running them.
As someone who has worked around cyclonic cones for decades I can tell you there is no way that a 'cone' could possibly remove the range of particles that a modern multi-layered
bag could-that is why a Dyson needs washable filters.
How well a vacuum cleaner sucks dirt is only half the story- the other half is that it has to somehow filter out this dirt before the air is expelled into the room.
Therefore the real question is can a cyclonic cleaner filter out as much dirt as a conventional bag? The answer is no. Accordingly cyclonic vacuums like Dyson, use filters, which become clogged more rapidly than fiters found on conventional vacuum cleaners.
Another point is that over time the cone becomes worn and less efficient.
Dyson's rule ok. Your statement that the cone becomes worn is frankly bullcrap. They are much better than bagged cleaners and they don't loose suction (as long as you look after them)
dyson's are not the best vaccum out there. I vacummed with a dyson, then with a rainbow, and it looked as if the dyson did nothing at all. Dysons don't suck, they blow!
ok, what did we see then on this clip?a blowing dyson?
you must be the last idiot, if you want to tell us that we did see a blowing dyson!i suggest you to socialise with a high quality steel beton wall made in germany.this may will help!
Still though, if you're defending Dyson, I'm COMPLETELY on your side!
I really, REALLY like Dyson. A lot. From their technology to their design to their supposed (haven't actually used one yet) performance, they seem like INCREDIBLE products.
Oh yeah, and their build quality is incredible: /watch?v=zKP92-oOa8w&fmt=18
Watch towards the middle to the end, a dude STANDS ON IT!
hahaha lol my real name is dyson and when the vacuum came out i was like holy crap im named after a vacuum and right when i meet someone and they ask me my name i say dyson and they start calling me vacuum lol
I see that you live in France... which one were you thinking about? I would be hesitant on the DC11 because of the AIR driven agitator. Also stay away from the DC07 (definitely the DC07) and the DC14 because they're not great with agitating carpets. All Dysons are great, but do some homework and choose the Dyson that fits you the best - because they differ in features.
Dyson Rocks! Don't believe everything you read here. You don't have clogged filters, you don't have to buy new belts, it is made of ABS plastic, not some cheap plastic. All you have here are vacuum dealers bashing Dyson because they did build a better mouse trap. It's sad. How many international awards have Hoover or Fantom won? BTW.. James Dyson sold the technology to Fantom years ago before he produced his own vac.
hey guys im from the uk the home of the dyson (yay lucky me) please america dont be fooled the dyson is useless i collect vacuums and have never come across such a pathetic excuse for a avacuum cleaner both their cylinder and upright modelsthe filters clog belts break the body breaks and my 23 year old hoover turbo (bagged vacuum) picks up more dust gritt and animal hair than any dyson, because you can see the dirt you think its picking up use your brains guys.
why is it when people advitise things such like that on tiving and in shops they always have to have one in there own home that they own. somehow i dobt it
Dyson is literally an over glorified Fantom because Fantom was the company who licensed Dyson to make this vacuum with this design, and Fantom is one of the worst vacuums ever so that should tell you something right there
well, that is the information I got from the Dyson statement they have taken it off. Fantom liscensed Dyson to use that technology, but either way you cut it that vacuum is worth no where near what they sell it for
Err, yes it is. The belt must be replaced along with the clutch assembly. You have to buy them as a pair.$80 . Very difficult to change the clutch. Also , you need special tools.
NO DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF TRASH. It is nothing but hype. You honestly can get a more powerful Hoover. If you want a good canister for the money Simplicity or Miele for even less than that Dyson outperforms it 10x over. I called Dyson up and asked how much power it had they told me it only moves 58cfm and that is the most powerful model. A Hoover Windtunnel II is 97cfm!!!! so what does that tell you? just think about it
Its all about advertising and the sales pitch, the Dyson vac is about a $95 dollar machine but they pump them up with the hype and commercials and get 5 time more the there worth, they gota love it.
Dysons are junk, Get a Filterqueen Majestic NO bags and no filters to clog up. True cyclonic action. Dysons machines are expensive to fix and the filters clog up in no time with fine dust and pet hair. Plus they have a hidden HEPA filter in them below the canister lol
Reading comments for Dyson on the Internet, I really don't feel it is a machine I can buy, although I thought I wanted one. Complaints are about clogged filters, plastic parts etc. Very upsetting.
Our dyson Stowaway (DC20 here in the UK and with a turbine head rather than a motorised) arrive today, and it's great. It actually has greater suction power and more features than the DC21 Motorhead (Stowaway in the US)so I don't know why a motor should make a vacuum cost almost £30 more than one that is likely better. Anyway, the Stowaway is fantastic and there have been many improvements on the previous design of the DC08T.
This is the best Dyson ever, period...I LOVE mine. Does away with a LOT of the shortcomings of the previous DC11, which I DON'T care for, especially that horrible turbine nozzle. The Motorhead is so much better and helps the performance a LOT.
Call your Dyson warranty station. Ask them how much it costs to change a belt. Well, I will tell you. $80. At my vacuum store , I belts for free on all other brands. Talk to a pro before you waste your money on a Dyson.
I have been in the vacuum business all my life . . Dont buy a Dyson. You will only find them at department stores. The people who really know vacuums will not sell them. .Before you waste you money , go to a vacuum dealer ..Also, like all bagless machines , they leak dust . All bagless are a health hazzard. Personally, I sell Riccar machines. Made in America, long warranties, lots of metel parts, and built to last. . See a dealer before you waste your money on a Dyson.
