I was in Denver for training many years ago and had the pleasure of meeting Ron at the church I was visiting. He has a wonderful testimony and voice. As a grandpa now....I will be using Ron's songs to help teach my grandchildren God's promises and principals.
Patch the pirate is the best I remeber listneing to his tapes over and over before bed time. And I still sometimes pull them out and sing along with him and his crew. I now know most of them by heart and sometimes catch my self humming them over and over! And I will say it again he is the best!!!
this song has been my favorite to sing, play in the piano back in the 90s the message was very timely for our trials then...it was a wonderful blessing to meet ron & shelley in person 10 yrs later & hear the story behind the song..thank you so much Ron & Shelley!--- april
Before my trials, I had sung this song from my head. During my trials, I sang this song with much struggle within. After my trial, I sing this song with all my heart!
God never moves without purpose or plan. When trying His servant and molding a man. Give thanks to the LORD, though your testing seems long. In darkness, He giveth a song. *Chorus* O REJOICE IN THE LORD! He makes no mistake. He knoweth the end of each path that I take! For when I am tried and purified, I shall come forth as gold. I could not see through the shadows ahead So I looked at the cross of my Saviour instead I bowed to the will of the Master that day Then peace came, and tears fled away
Wow!!! what a beautiful song... we sung this song all the time at my church and i never knew who wrote it. Now i know you Ron Hamilton. I thank God for your life. I 'm about to make a nice littel arrangement on it for my church band, this is how moved i am by this song. May God bless you Ron.....

We use to listen these songs growing up and it's been wonderful to rediscover this beautiful classic at a time in my life that has been a little rough! ♡
Patch is the best. My girls grew up listening to Patch and meeting him at Fairfax Baptist Temple in Fairfax Virginia when he came for some services. I have started replacing my vinyl LP's with CD's and giving CD's to my daughter to play for her daughter. Rejoice in the Lord, He makes no mistakes!
wow I used to listen to my grandma's patch the pirate tapes all the time, I have most of the songs memorized! listening to this brings back some really good feelings.
I missed you by a couple years. 80-85. Actually, I'll miss the yearbooks you were in also as I don't have any from that era... Only a late sixties and early seventies. I find them on ebay when they are cheap enough and collect them.
Patch has always been a big part of My life all growing up. I used to have most of his albums Kookawacka was good but my all time fave was Starry Knight that one was awesome talking about a servants heart that is just an awesome cd to listen to :)
I am 22 and I have been listening to PTP since I was 5. We moved to Michigan from California when I was six and I remember listening to Camp Kokawaka Woods the whole trip!!! Such great memories.
I grew up listening to Patch the Pirate...I even got to meet him once when he came to my church! I am so thankful for his ministry. He has reached many children and even adults through his testimony and music. I am thankful for the good music that he provides
i grew up listening to patch the pirate as well! and i got to meet hiom once at BJU! my fav song is "camp food" from the camp kookawacka woods (sp?) tape! we used to listen to it when we traveled long distances in our car! what good memories! =)
thats awesome that you got to meet him at BJU! I saw him once when I was walking down the sidewalk to my dorm! It was so cool! We used to listen to Camp Kookawacka woods all the time too! :)
Praise God for this song. This song has been accompanying me for 15 years.
Recently, I learnt that my friend's lung cancer was getting worse. I immediately recalled this song. It says "God never moves without purposes or plans...and we shall come forth as gold!!!"
I know He has a bigger plan beyond my understanding.
wow i love this song back in 2007 me and my friends sang this at bible camp as a choir we debated all week on whether to sing amazing grace but then when it came time to practice and pick a song i stumbled across this in the hymn book i looked at the words and i was like wow i love it i showed it to my friend and she agreed haha the preacher that week was surprised im pretty sure
I have enjoyed your music many times in our choir and was recently given this beautifull song for a solo. Not having a piano at home to practice the sheet music , I did a google search and found your YOU TUBE video. WHAT BETTER PRACTICE CAN YOU HAVE T,HAN SINGING ALONG WITH THE MAN WHO WROTE THE MUSIC? Thanks for your music. and may god continue to bless you and your talented family for ,many many more years to come..
WOW!! Ron Hamilton on youtube!! Im 19, and I still love a lot of his songs! This is so cool! Actually seing him sing is awsome! All I ever had were tapes and CDs! This is just way cool!
Brother Ron you are an example of how us Christians should be. Always looking for what we can do for Him instead of blaming Him for what happens to us. You have a beautiful ministry and it is such a blessing with the youth at my church. God bless Brother Ron
Had the privilege to meet Ron when I was about 20. Since, have had the privilege to have sung this song about 100 times. Now, have had the privilege to have seen this video. Thank you.
i just finished up listenign to mr hamilton's father-in-law do a 'seminar' on godly music. it was very good, hima nd his family put out a lot of good music.
God sure has blessed Ron Hamilton with very good singing ability! I listened to a few of the Patch the Pirate tapes and I always liked The Frog Song. :)
I I have to tell you a story about my nephew (who is now a reporter on the CBN networ) who I gave one of the first records of Patch to when he was about 5. He was coming to visit & was going to get to see Patch who just happened to be coming to our church & he was so excited he couldn't sleep. He told his mom "You don't understandstand! This is even better than Christmas! My daughter was part of the children's choir and got to sing some of his songs directed by Patch himself.
since young i had been listening to patch the pirate and it's really encouraging. he has this certain way of reaching out to children with his stories and songs. really blessed man. God has definitely used him for his glory.
This song has always had a very strong and tearful message for me. I first heard this from Ron and Shelly when they visited our church back in the muid 80's when my daughter acted in one of their children's plays. "Rejoice in the Lord" has even a more special meaning to me today as a loved one in our family is afflicted with cancer. Thank God she knows the Lord and what she is going through right now is the only hell she will ever know!! Praise the Lord!!
I have grown up listening to Patch the Pirate. Even now as an adult, I still like listening to the newest Patch the Pirate cd's. My favorites are The Great American time machine and Afradika Fever. The latter one I listened to a lot because I have surrendered to serve on the mission field. It also helps to remind me that when you are serving God, surrendered, that you can have a greater impact on other's lives than you know.
It was neat to hear the story behind the song too.
I am going thru a marriage crisis right now. I thought I married a Christian but realised he might not have accepted Jesus as His Lord of life. Now he is making things hard for me, not allowing me to bring the children to church with me. Thank you for your song. I try to see beyond my suffering to let God achieve His purpose.
Does anyone know where this song can be purchased on mp3?
