As senterworks says, the puffs of fire are from the exhaust outlet for the APUs (Auxiliary Power Units) that are housed within the aft fuselage section. There are 3 of these units, which are basically small turbines that burn hydrazine fuel to drive hydraulic pumps that allow the orbiter's rudder and elevons to operate. There's also a water-spray evaporater in the aft fuselage that cools the orbiter's electrical systems when the payload bay doors are closed.

That fire was the APU and it is normal.

I heard a very loud boom just a few minutes before this landed. I'm in southwest Florida over by Cape Coral. It was LOUD!
