Hi, inspired by your wonderful art I decided to give it a try and made a similar balcony to yours -or course much, much simplier and not as perfect as yours-but when I put in in teh oven the black polymer caly for the iron melted completaly! Does it happen to you? Please, I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks! : )
@mrsjanuaryflower by "the iron" you mean the polymer clay iron? the only think I can think of is the perhaps the brand of clay you are using is too soft. try FIMO classic, it can sometimes be difficult to work with (you have to "condition" the clay quite a bit sometimes, as it can be crumbly), but there are benefits to it being stiffer than some of the softer clays, like Sculpy for example. you must also be sure that the thicknesses you are working with are balanced by the softness of clay.
@mrsjanuaryflower ie: the softer the clay, the thicker your details have to be, or it will sag & deform, either in the making process, or the baking process. good luck!
