  • The media pumps us with dross dross dross and negative waves. Upon waves and oceans of space, star trek simply captured the imagination. Live long and prosper free imaginative creativity. Maybe one day they'll be a kirk for real. Fantastic music and so many wonderful comments, really enjoyed reading and listening.

  • I always loved that shot of the torpedo in the forest. Great vegetation, lighting and cinematography.

  • MMMM.... ;-))

  • Don't greif Admiral! It is logical. The needs of the many outway......The needs of the few.... You're the one! I have been and always shall be your friend..... Live long. And Prosper......

  • I seen this when I was 18 a few weeks before I graduated High School

  • now 20 years after ST3 came out, i can still hear clearly in my head at 2:09, Spock's soft voice "Space, the final frontier..."

  • @Doug19752533 I do lol!!!

  • I love this OST. I believe this music is best BGM in star trek music.

  • 1 person remembered the destruction of the Enterprise ;(

  • Love it at 5:23 when the music changes and on the film you see the Enterprise appear at the corner of the screen. She looks battered yet still beautiful.

  • I remember sitting in the picture theatre watching this film. I was 8 at the time and this was my first Star Trek film that i watched on the big screen. And this music came on and i was immediately "Transported." I always get goosebumps at 2:40. Brilliant!!! Great movie too lol!!!

  • @ScorpiousMagnus "picture theatre" who still talks like that?

  • epic

  • an all time fav

  • I remember seeing it in Waltham MA when I was 12 years old... still gives me goose bumps

  • The majority of this score was reliant on the Star Trek The Movie Theme (1). I still didn't feel closer to the original quest from listening.

  • French horn.....hell yeah.

  • Man from 4:20-5:10 is epic

  • I just watched this movie in 1080p! GREAT movie!

  • Good times....

This was literally my first Star Trek movie when I was a kid and I always enjoyed it. I still enjoy it today and it also inspires me, as does every other Star Trek film. I hope to create a Sci-Fi adventure myself someday. :) It probably won't have as much popularity as this and Star Wars, but it's still a dream worth making into a reality. :)

  • Class A adventure music!

  • This piece gets *TWO* cookies!

  • His music makes you feel like you are there

  • Thanks for the good quality recording! I just linked to this from my sci fi blog where I'm recounting my experiences with the films over the years. Search on "Sci Fi Lounge" at blogspot.

  • Great classic movie , but boy what a terriffic soundtrack. Horner really shine's in this one.

  • Don't grieve, Admiral. It is logical that the needs of the many.............

  • best star trek score

  • "The needs of the many... outway..." Spock

"The needs of the few," Kirk

"or the one. And I have been and always shall be... your friend."

I always ball when that scene plays.

  • @chopperpilot5 me too

  • piece of my childhood--whoa, what memries!! <3

  • @1PetiteMome a peice of mine too! These films always remind me of Christmas, and I always make a point of having a Star Trek marathon on Christmas Eve, and a Star wars marathon on Boxing day!

  • Its very sad and somber, yet its backed with a feeling of hope.

  • excellent !

  • loved how horner made the theme from WOK more mournful and funeralistic for the film to cater to Spock's demise while still maintaining that sense of wonder

  • the tune always tears my eyes up :')

  • when i watch the movie and i see the prologue i tear this music is so beautiful and so mesmerizing words cannot describe how amazing the enitre score for Star Trek III is

  • its what your supposed to hear.. very good!

  • 5.23 - the anguish in the music is incrediable

  • This was also the part where you first see the battered USS Enterprise NCC-1701. And you get a feeling that she's also headed for her death. Which of course happened later in the movie. Spock is saved, at the price of the Enterprise.

  • 2:05 forward epic

  • i must say lolz hats of to ya Mr Horner :) man u are a real legend :) god bless you :) and god bless u Sean MaccaUK for posting this :)

  • Space, the final frontier...

These are the voyages of the Starship, ENTERPRISE.

Her continuing mission: TO SEEK OUT NEW LIFEFORMS AND NEW CIVILIZATIONS. TO BOLDLY GO, WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE.

  • Great instumental - really gives a feeling of wonder.

  • Gorgeous opening scene, in black-and-white with a blue hue, then red, then full color as the rectangular box expanded to fill the entire screen.

  • THats Orginal directing

you can't anything better than that !

  • 3:00+ is just Awesome.

  • Definitely one of the top 3 tracks that Horner has ever recorded. He was really at the height of his power at that time and it shows. Symphonic music of this caliber is simply nowhere to be found on the big screen, these days.

  • I guess we're just pretending that Lord of the Rings and Star Wars never happened.

  • I LOVE Star Trek.

I am such a Trekker. Hands down.

  • I love all that is star trek

  • Seriously, SeanMaccaUK, thanks SO much.

I've gotta go on Amazon and see if I can order these soundtracks.

  • Omgosh! His best intro to Star Trek! The music is so captivating!

  • I LOVE IT +5 STARS !
