The yellow is the hi-hat and the ION kit nor any Rock Band kit uses a pedal for the hi-hat.

But anyway, any time the game uses a blue, green, or yellow note you can hit either the pad or its respective cymbal.

Good video mate. Can you show how you mounted your pads/cymbals? I am definitely interested in re-laying out my Ion drumset. I got it assembled as the default instructions show but they are not very good and I am sure I missed an obvious way to to mount things up. I'd love to try the Hi-hat on the left to get a more real fake-drumming :)

With the way he's recording, it could just be lag between the sounds from the TV and the sounds from hitting the drums reaching the videocam's mic.

Actually the sound is calibrated to the headphones. That way I can hear the music and not the controllers. I don't know why the headphone sound and speaker sound is so different though.

I have the Ion Kit and they really aren't as loud as they sound in the video. But whatever you want to do to keep the noise down is up to you.
