Altough Other M will include flashback elements to tell Samus story prior to Metroid as well.

@fan4sho gotta say there's a little bit of misinformation there. Nintendo and Retro studios have officially stated that the Prime trilogy, Prime 1, Echoes, AND Corruption take place after Metroid 1, but BEFORE Metroid II: Return of Samus.

This is mainly because, aside from the official word, A: there are Space Pirate logs on the Frigate Orpheon that talk about the destruction of the Zebes outpost and home base. and B: Infant Metroids are a common enemy in the Phazon Mines

"Mother" was a slang term Samus off screen used as the name for mother brain. in the intro of the game, she says that before saying time to go and launches the hyperbeam. you can no longer see this video, it got taken out by nintendo. she says exactly after she gets the hyper beam from the twinkles from the baby metroid. "Mother... It's TIME TO GO!"

The game will be controlled by the Wii Remote on its side, like a NES controller. D Pad-Move 1-Shoot (hold to charge) and Morph Ball bomb 2-Jump A-Morph Ball At any time, you can aim at the screen to enter a first person viewpoint. A-shoot (missile when locked on) B-Hold to aim around 360 and to lock on to targets You can't move while in first person, though. Also, at any time, you can aim the Wii Remote upwards, and hold A to recharge some your energy and missiles when they are low. I'm hyped!

It really shouldn't be a question whether the Ridley fight is a flashback or not. It is confirmed that he is still alive around this time in the time line; we saw that he was still alive before Fusion (though he dies shortly after the game starts), and Other M takes place between Metroid 3 and 4.

Yes, eating corpses is how he keeps himself from dying, but if he is put in a position where he can't do that, he WILL die. That's what happened in Fusion.

I'm not gonna pretend that I know for a fact that he won't still be alive, but you have to admit, the chances are pretty damn slim.
