This is the atmosphere of Killzone and Killzone 2. Killzone 3 on the other hand has the same kind of atmosphere as a silly 80:s action movie.

I don't agree with you that killzone 2 was too dark. I realy liked the dark and depressing look of Helghan and when they changed that so radiacaly it didn't feel like the same planet.

Allso keep in mind that the way the story was told and how the characters interracted with each other is just as important to the atmosphere as the art style and the usage of colour.

I liked KZ 2's darkness too but it was still TOO dark.I guess if you LOVE dark and depressing then you would like KZ 2 more than KZ 3.

KZ 3's story and characters was much much better than KZ 2's.KZ 2 constantly made you do stuff like "Go here, take out this arc tower, now go over here and take this bridge".It never made you do anything interesting or new.KZ 3 has alot more purpose and objectives.

Yes, i like dark and depressing games! Should i be ashamed of that? The Look of Killzone 2 was absolutley gorgeous and changing it so radicaly realy bothered me. If they had cranked up the colours and light to cod4 levels i would have given it a pass, but they went above and beyond that.

That is the exact oposite of the KZ 3 characters. The matter a lot, but almost nothing they said or did felt natural. Almost every conversation between Stahl and Orlock, and Rico and Narville felt contrived. They are not deaper just becouse they matter more.

I played this game and I think it needed a bit more horror. I mean, it has the apocalypse end of the world theme like fallout 3 has, they got that part right. but in games like this, a little horror goes a long way. such as in fallout 3, in that deathclaw mission, every time you took a step you heard a baby crying and screaming as though a deathclaw was mauling him. they should have a seen in killzone 2 with some helghast civilians that get shot down by ISA or something like that.
