  • is it just me or does that riff at liek 2:00 sound just liek the breakdown in i shot the sheriff

  • @igessthsisgrwnup >breakdown

    >i shot the sheriff

    you must be new here

  • @Hotdog40404040404

    HOT DOG!

I am sorry. Should I type like a fag and speak jazz terms?

Ahem, the bass line starting at around 1:20 and going to 2:00, sounds similiar to the ending of a Bob Marely song.

    Thank you.

  • @igessthsisgrwnup rage much?

  • @Hotdog40404040404

    >rage much?

    you must be gay here

  • wow,sorry to say i never heard of him before,what a player,awesome my friend!!

  • Can it be any faster?

  • Precisão e virtuosismo total !!

  • @tobutori0903 全く同感。それ以前にこの正確無比なフルピッキングができる奴がいるかどうかという疑問もありますな。

  • once im able to play guitar again this will be the first song im going to learn

  • fucking mutola

  • Also, isopropyl alcohol does not eat plastic. It is sold in plastic bottles. Some solvents will eat plastic, and alcohol will melt certain laquers and polymers. Didn't anyone google this before the argument started?

  • @kalvynevans I mentioned this but it appears the entire flamewar has been moderated. Or he just removed some of his comments.

  • A string, when plucked, will vibrate. Pressing a string against a fret shortens the strings length, providing a higher note. It does not need to make physical contact with the fretboard to make sound. However, the fretboard DOES have an effect on the timbre of the sound. Even my nine year old knows this, and he learned it from 'Donald Duck in Math-Magic Land'.

  • Geez, you guyz, stop arguing already! You must hate music. Can't you just enjoy something for what it is? Music is NOT a contest between Viking warriors with swords. Try being happy, you'll live better...

  • @audiotrax2000 You are so right my man...these children should just go to the school yard and kill each other for all I care... fuck it...I'm just here to remember this LP (shows my age) and listen to good old Al rip it up!

  • Al is an amazing musician!!!.

  • @ tonesnob. Go fuck yourself

  • @fendrhead Have anything intelligent to add Fender , why are you mad again? Where is your uploads?

  • al doesn't use scalloped frets!

  • Man, those are some clean scales.

  • -incredible, thx i love this for many years, but nowodays up to date too...

  • i like happyfaces comment-scalloped frets arent for the faint hearted-u gotta have ur shit sorted REAL good,if u do they can be of benefit-if not -ur fukd!!!

  • Fingers on fire yet they aren't consumed.Hmm

  • goose bumps!!! LOL!!!!

  • reminds me of megadeth for some reason ?

  • @q8scuba Sounds like Chris Poland's guitar

  • @q8scuba thats b/c this is also shred music,... jazz fusion speed,.. and give this song a heavy metal thrash touch and it would be perfect straight off the Rust In Peace album eh

  • @q8scuba A few of the riffs sound like Take No Prisoners and Kick The Chair. Imagine Al playing in Megadeth. Earlier Megadeth guitarists were jazz oriented. Oh hells yes!

  • @q8scuba Reminds me of Megadeth for me as well. Maybe because Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland were jazz fusion musicians before joining Megadeth if I'm not mistaken, and there's some of that feel in the first two albums.

  • this is so 70s! hahaha just sounds like something from a movie

  • I can hear Al's influence in John Petrucci's playing.

  • @thehuntz1 Oh god yes, I know what you mean! Because of John, Al has managed to influence my playing too.

  • always a natural , he is the epitome of fusion....jeff beck eat your heart out

  • A lot of people appreciate Al D's skills on the guitar, but this track also showcases his skills with the timbales.

  • Al D. buddy, always going to be one of the greatest.

  • Al DiMeola was my inspiration to play guitar.

  • Somewhere between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea lies a Spanish Highway. And it's pretty dam hot!! So keep off that road (Really, I didn't know WHERE I was going with that). Fantastic post.

  • Still got the original LP... and a lot of Mc laughlin/ mahavisnu.. Long time a go this was a hit, and for guitar freaks is stil super..

  • I love my Guitarist for introducing me to this man.

  • If metal heads weren't so dumb and close minded, this song would have been the birth of thrash metal six years before it officially happened.

  • @TobinStrike Not quite Thrash, but this sounds very close to Dream Theater which is Progressive Metal.

  • @Langtw

    proto-thrash :)

  • Happyface444- lulz

  • I just heard this the other day because I kid I went to school with covered this for some Berklee project. Nasty drummer. Matt IRON Johnson.

  • @SpinalFracture i still have the original album today, i bought a stereo system because of the way this album sounded!!

  • @happyface4444 Scalloped frets actually make it harder to play fast, ever tried one? And also, the neck pickup isn't a cheat it's just a different tone, and I have no idea what you mean by saying it hides the "bad tone" when that IS the tone. Maybe you meant makes it sound less sloppy? That also isn't true, because if you listen to Malmsteen you can hear each note crystal clear just like with Al. Just because you don't like him and it's trendy to hate on Yngwie doesn't mean he's sloppy.

  • @Whackooyzero I don't think happyface4444 actually knows anything about guitars.

  • @Whackooyzero

yngwie malmsteen is really great but jazz fusion guitarists are simply the best

the best alternate picking technique al di meola

the best sweepi picking franck gambale

    the best legato allan holdsworth

  • @algrand90 don't forget django reinhardt, not fussion, but playing all that stuff with pretty much 2 fingers!

  • @rod3067

this is obvious !!! django is the pioneer !!

  • @Whackooyzero People don't get scalloped frets. I'm sure i'll eventually hear they allow you to have more distortion...

  • @Whackooyzero played on scalloped frets for 6 years....requires less finger pressure to fret and makes you a sloppier player....truth hurts!

  • @Tonesnob72 Not at all. If you fret the strings to hard you go out of tune. It is far harder to play on a scalloped guitar. As for the sloppy part, you probably just didn't practice often enough...

  • Comment removed

  • @Tonesnob72 They require the same amount of pressure dumbass. If you just lightly fret a scalloped fret, the same ammount of pressure will create a note on a non scalloped board. Don't believe me? Take a scalloped guitar and a regular one and try it out. Also, how is playing rock band bad? I never watch TV, and as substitute it helps with dexterity and helps with muscle strength? Your only videos are a butchered attempt at a Van Halen tone and playing. You MUST be more credible.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tonesnob72 Lets face the fact here, you have a bad picking. Its out of time, it is inconsistent. You phrasing is good, but the licks are uninspiring. Please don't get a big head thinking you filming yourself and having a witty username gives you any credibility. I build guitars as a hobby, I know more than you do. How do they require less pressure? The note is created by pressing it against the fret, the actual fret board doesn't have a part in producing the note. Explain your magic frets.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tonesnob72 Were not talking fretless vs fretted. No shit you cant have a scalloped fretless guitar. Explain how a guitar with scalloped frets needs LESS pressure to fret than an instrument with a regular fretboard. Explain the science behind it, I can fully support you need the same pressure for both.

  • @danukenator123"The note is created by pressing it against the fret, the actual fret board doesn't have a part in producing the note. Explain your magic frets." Quoted from you the fretboard has no part in producing the note...really , you got it backwards you dont need frets to produce a note, and you can have a scalloped fretboard without frets, it would just be more stupid than having a scalloped fretboard with frets.

  • @Tonesnob72 You haven't answered the question, when does the fretboard come into play actually creating the note. On my guitars I can just slight press down on the string as still produce a note provided it makes a solid connection with the fret. If you are fretting to the point where you are actually touching to the fretboard you are pressing too hard. Try less pressure. I like the part where you said, "Alcohol melts all plastics." You must live in a third world county with out cups.

  • @danukenator123 The fretboard come into play when you depress the string to the fretboard, i dont know what mickeymouse guitar you got but on A REAL GUITAR the note will not sound unless depressed against the board, your telling me how to play guitar...really, really, really? I'm not talking about alcohol you drink, your one of those zit faced kids that like to argue no matter if their wrong or not, youll just keep going. I'm done!

  • @Tonesnob72 No your talking about isopropyl alcohol, the stuff in contact cleaner...that comes in a plastic bottle. You probably didn't even read you the article I sent you. Sad, but I suppose ignorance is bliss, I no longer feel compelled to tell you the basic mechanics of a guitar. Have your last word. (Also, for a person playing for 20+ you're not very good. Better than me, but for 20 whole years. No. Lose the haughty attitude, at best you're on the level of an imitation George Lynch)

  • Respond to this video... Schools out bitch, im done! Go do some research or learn to play a real instrument, practice for the next 20 years then come see me. BTW i love the part where you say " i dont know why electric contact cleaner melt the plastic controller!" idiot...

  • Comment removed

  • @Tonesnob72 Thats retarded...if alcohol melts plastic, explain why 99% alcohol can come in a plastic bottle or why you can drink alcoholic beverages from a plastic cup. Its is specific plastic combinations that don't work, that's why it says to test for compatibility.

Listen to yourself, alcohol melts all plastic, what an idiot. Whats next, electricity is actually fairy magic?

  • @danukenator123 You mean it isn't "fairy magic"?

  • Respond to this video...do you own one..then put a video up of you playing a piece of music or better yet, write a progression and improv over it like I did. Until you do your garbage and so are your comments. You talk the talk but dont walk the walk.

  • @danukenator123 Anyone that has half a brain will tell you the reason to have scalloped frets is that they requires less pressure to fret, the whole reason for scalloping, all you know how to do is push red, blue, and green buttons kid so close that stinkhole you call a mouth or start posting some of your own videos. ooops cant do that cause him gotta plastic joystick guitar..rofl

  • @danukenator123 I do like the fact that I have videos of myself playing on here and you have videos of you playing rockband? Not quite like playing guitar, but it is very laughable!! ROFL

  • @danukenator123 Maybe you should be giving advice on video game playing instead of what you think you know on guitar! Dipshit

  • @Whackooyzero Yeah YJM is sloppy just like Al Di is. Lol.

  • @happyface4444 You couldn't be more mistaken, man. Yngwie is a phenomenal guitarist, he just didn't branch out to different musical styles.

  • A real fusion classic right here. Al Di Meola is one of the All Time fastest Guitar Players out there. And Elegant Gypsy was a landmark recording for him when it came out back in 1977.

  • Great stuff. Anthony is an amazing bass player. Al's guitar playing just does it for me.

  • why does this remind me so much of the peoples court??

  • @fendrhead hahaha, I was thinking along those same lines. Definitely a 70-80's TV show inspired theme song.

  • @fendrhead because Doug Llewelyn is on the drums.

  • @fendrhead cause your an idiot with no musical taste i guess..

  • @fendrhead It's the congas and the hihat.

  • This seriously an absolute pro playing "catch me if you think you can~"

    All class...

  • MAESTRO

  • Fantastico

  • Best al di meola song!!! AWESOME!!!
