  • Yes, I did.

  • So what did you do for your hour? =)

  • I turned off the lights in my appartment and sat in an chair thinking about the event.

  • Really? I think I would have fallen asleep. lol. Now I could have listened to worship music and prayed for an hour, but not just think about it. Glad to hear you participated. There were so many people who knew nothing about it!

  • I participated. For whatever reason, at my house it's always dark lol. we use the light from windows to come in and at night we have like one lamp on in my house, so we participate almost every day lol. we like the darkness, my family swears we are vampires. O.o

  • My husband and my daughter like to sit in the dark. But I like lots of light. However, ironically, hubby calls me a vampire because I'm awake most nights. I went for a walk at 3:00 a.m. last night. lol

  • i participated last year. did this year too, mostly... lol had a minor feline catastrophe, so ended up being Earth 45 mins lol :D but i spent most my time with my lights off. i spent the time on the puter this year, talking to my friend about it.

  • LOL at the "Cat"astrophe. =P

  • lol hadnt even thought of that lol :D

  • LOL. It goes along with the cattitude =D

  • My bf and I participated. We turned off everything (TV, computer, even unplugged the power bar for the entertainment center, even unplugged the microwave!), lit a bunch of candles on the coffee table, and played a game of Scrabble! It was very enjoyable!

  • That's awesome. You should have pitched a tent in the living room and pretended you were camping. LOL! I wish I had thought of that before =/

  • Okay that's hilarious because I'm pregnant and I already joked yesterday about how I bet when my child is old enough he/she would probably want to pretend we're camping for Earth Hour! Lol

  • LOL! Now I'm remembering all the sheets my brothers and I used to spread out over all the furniture so we could "camp" under them. HAHA!

  • That brought back some memories. As kids, my sis and I appropriated all the sheets in the house, along with two floor fans, and made an inflatable tunnel that snaked through two bedrooms.

  • LOL. I don't think we had any ceiling fans back then. Doh! We had some limitations =/

  • I don't think I ever saw a ceiling fan, outside of saloons, back then.We were using big old box fans. Much fun.

  • LOL. Yeah. Those forts were a blast =)

  • Dallas made a big deal of Earth Hour (I think it was its first year to participate as a city). What a joke. Dallas/Fort Worth creates so much light pollution via poor lighting technology and use, I can hardly see a star and I'm out in horse country. Just too close to DFW.

I saw more stars from any city in San Francisco Bay Area than out here in the country.

For our part, we try to have black out nights once a week. No electricity. Candles and books.

BTW. All five nails look great!

  • Black out nights once a week? Your whole family does that? Cool. That's a great idea.

    And thanks =)

  • Same here, neighbor. Back in the sixties, the night sky out here in the sticks would take your breath away, and now I'm hard-pressed to even find the Dippers. And I'm an hour's drive away from Dallas.

  • I took a walk at 5:00 a.m. this morning. The stars were beautiful. I kept stopping and turning circles in the street, trying to spot the big dipper. I always find the little dipper, but I have trouble finding the big dipper.

  • Easy one--find the Big D (look for Polaris), and the two stars on the big end of BD's ladle point to the end of the handle of Little D. The real problem is the city glare. Can't see zilch anymore.

  • Let's just cover large portions of the Earth's surface with highly reflective tarps or something. That should cool us down, or at least help to counter all of the concrete and black roofs on our surface.

  • We can just pretend the whole country looked like Florida after the hurricanes in 2004. You could see all the thousand of blue tarps from the air. It looked bizarre.

  • LOL you slept. And plus, I wonder how many babies will be born 9 months from the 28th.

  • Probably not many Americans. I think our country has for the most part, decided they don't want many children anymore. It will be interesting though. LOL

  • I have to admit that I did not participate in Earth Hour. The idea was nice, but it would not affect anything because it is all in the hands of people who only want money and immediate satisfaction.

  • I just thought it was a simple thing to do, and I don't want to ever just give up =/

  • Great idea. You look beautiful, by the way. I love your blue nails!

  • Thanks =)

  • doesn't it feel weird talking to your camera, your neighbours might think you're crazy lol

  • My neighbors? They can't see in my house. But heck, I used to vlog and drive when I had my Infiniti. I'd just stick my bluetooth headset in my ear. LOL

  • What...you ride a skateboard now? I miss those autovlogs you used to do. How are you going to compete with all those drivers text messaging? And if you sold the Infiniti, I told you you would've gotten best price if you'd let us bid on it. :D

  • Sry. Missed this comment before. My husband drives a company truck, but also bought a brand new Acura. So I drive the Acura now. But it has no place to put the camera =(

LOL. I never thought about selling the Infiniti here.

  • lol no one told me about it

  • I was researching a blog, and an ad popped up for it. =)

  • We really need to try and bring the 3rd world up to western standards with newer cleaner technologies. China and India are both growing, and they probably aren't going to stop. The world's 2 biggest countries living western lifestyles will likely chew through the planet's resources in a matter of years.

That being said, I did not participate in Earth Hour 2009. I think it's simply a futile effort, unfortunately. But then again, I rarely have my lights on to begin with.

  • And don't forget that ice -- having a high albedo and thus helping cool the Earth -- is vanishing at an alarming pace. This is only going to warm the Earth, as more long-wave radiation heats the Earth's surface as opposed to being sent back to space as short-wave rads.

Global warming is not going to stop.

  • I don't believe in giving up. I think we should never stop trying, and we should all be accountable for our actions.

  • I don't mean to put things in such a negative light, but perhaps replace "giving up" with "plan for the future".

The more ice that melts, the less solar energy is radiated back into space. The warmer the northern regions get, the more permafrost defrosts. The more permafrost melts, the more methane is released into the atmosphere. It's all a big deadly positive feedback loop.

I believe humans (far fewer) will survive , but the world is going to be radically different from what we see today.

  • I don't really think there's much we can do about that. Our government has been choosing to ignore the problem for at least 30 years. Which means it's up to us to see if there's anything we can do. No, we alone can't change the world, but maybe these little things will help to increase awareness. And a LOT of good can eventually come from that. =) (I know. I'm annoyingly optimistic)

  • March Madness is College Basketball-PALOOZA! But i DID shut off everything except for my television. Does that count? I tried :( But i wont give up MARCH MADNESS!

  • Ooohhh. I hate sports. AAaagghghghhhh!

  • love ya Lisa, yur a gorgeous lady in any color

  • Aww. Thanks =)

  • Oh rofl....April Fool's day joke from YT. :-P

  • OMG! That's today? Crap. I'll be home all day. Hmm. What to do to the husband?

  • Okay, I promise I'm not nuts. Now the whole page is backward and the video is upside down. rofl

    I like those nails. :-)

  • HAHAHA!

  • Nuke the whales!!!

  • Actually, I wanted to participate, but I forgot :(

  • It happens. I'm surprised I remembered. I guess being really tired was a plus. lol

  • For the voice, try warm herbal tea, not to help your throat, but to keep your busy ass quite for about 1/2 hour... LOL

  • Wow. Poor BGSev. You sound like Louise Jefferson.

  • Gee thanks =/

  • I turned on all my linghts and burnt a tree down make that 2 trees lol. Wacky statest thinking "earth day" lol

  • It was just Earth Hour. And I think it was a cool idea. It doesn't get any simpler.

  • Earth Hour? DO THEY KNOW WHAT MARCH MADNESS IS?!

  • You're the 2nd one to mention that. I don't even know what it is! o.O

  • I did it

  • Yay! =D

  • yes, we turned our lights off. I should have planned it better though because I was putting the kids to bed in the dark, and I tripped on a plastic bucket that was still in the hall-way following a week in which it was serving as an emergency sick bucket when the kids had a vomiting bug (cleaned out of course!) But I broke my bucket-so lights off for an hour but now I need a new plastic bucket!

    Swings and roundabouts lol!

  • ROFL! At least the bucket was clean! I don't know about there, but you can get them here from about a dollar at Target. I have a pretty red one =) LOL

  • dag i missed it, do they know it`s march madness :-)

  • What's that?

  • Earth Hour...we dont need no stinky Earth Hour...No i forgot..At that time i was watchin Basketball and bbqin lol

  • Actually, doing all that was fine. You just had to turn off the lights =P

  • well we was outside watching it so most of my house lites were off :) and havin a big house believe is always "earth hour" lol

  • I can relate. My husband is always complaining about lights being left on. But he leaves them on! Doh!

  • O crap i was playing my nes, super nintendo, Nintendo64 Gamecube, and wii at the same time on my 55 inch tv. lol

  • O.o As long as the lights were out. LOL

  • the music started to give me a headache like half way through, it was good music, but it was hard trying to listen to you. and no i didn't participate, completely forgot ;(

  • Try again next year? And I forgot about the song =/ I meant to take it out.

  • Which day was Earth hour? I was probably working during it...or sleeping. I just finished 3 12 hour nights in a row. I came home and did some things on the puter then went to bed around noon and just woke up at 1:30am! So I'm a little discombobulated. lol Maybe I should just watch this and comment when I sound a little more coherent.

I liked the song in the background but had trouble catching the lyrics. Mind if I ask what it is called?

  • It was Saturday. I forgot it was there =/ I think it was one by Misty Edwards.

  • My bad, The song was by Kelanie Gloeckler.

  • I did participate this year :)

  • Yay! =D

  • I participated in Earth Hour just as much as AlGore. Google that! LOL

  • I'm afraid to =/

  • I tried to hold my breath for Earth hour to cut down on my carbon dioxide emissions. I seem to have passed out and didn't make it very far. My new plan for next year is to eat fewer beans prior to earth hour to cut down on another global warming gas.

  • Doh!

  • Yes, I participated in earth hour. I was at a friends house for dinner. We do a ladies only dinner at someone's home once a month so this month it fell on the day for earth hour. We lit a bunch of candles and enjoyed the company, talking, laughing and drinking wine.

  • Cool! You're the first one to have participated =)

  • Sounds like a great idea. Maybe next year. "Grow up" no fun it that. Cheers.

  • You're right . Growing up is boring. I think we should have started old and gotten younger all the time. =D

  • there's nothing wrong with your nailcolor, honey, the turquoise color seems a pretty good match with your hair color and your complexion...a little wild maybe , but thats ok...mine are gold right now, and they're usually red, black, or purple

  • I always want to wear gold, but it looks terrible with my skin tone =(

  • Earth Hour was bs....there is NO global warming..the energy it took for all the tree huggers to turn all their lights and appliances surged more electricity than it saved...complete garbage!!! I did NOT participate...lol

  • O_O

  • I didn't know about it till like a hour or so before it..and wasn't prepared for doing it...If I'd known further ahead of time I would have. I dont thinkI had many lights on at that time anyway. maybe two. We dont usually have many lights on cause un-needed lights on annoy me and poof up our electric bill.

  • Oh well. Maybe next year =)

  • Just had to comment about the nails....I LOVE that color...and why grow up?! I tell everyone that is why I do daycare, so I can play with kids all day and not grow up!! And I would sooo totally paint my nails that color!

We thought about participating, but we had a Worship Team practice so it didn't work out for us.

  • I used to love to play on the swing sets and go down the slides at the parks when B was little. Now I have no excuse =(

  • The nails match the shirt actually.

  • They look that way in the video, but they're really a little bit greener. LOL! Oh, and I'm actually wearing a sleep shirt. Ssshh. Don't tell anyone. HAHAAAA

  • I promise I won't tell anyone. You already did. hehe

  • LOL

  • I support the statement that the demonstration makes but I didn't participate. I did hear about it ahead of time but during that time I think a handful of us were at Mast's place hanging out.

A couple of them were playing guitars, so technically it was "unplugged."

    :-)

BTW, Never grow up. Paint your nails the way they long to be painted.

...But definitely stay bundled up when it's chilly.

  • But my nails desire to exhibit what used to be my wild side. Now I just have wild nails. HAHAHYA
